Just wanted to share this little quick tip I used yesterday to get my top off all alone w/out any scratching the body/paint or myself.

rockon WORK SMART, NOT HARD!!! rockon
Requires 4 tie-down straps, one garage w/lifting door (not sliding), must be able to get Bronco into garage a few feet.

1. Disconnect all hardware holding down the top.

2. Slide the top towards the back of the Bronco, about 1.2 - 2 ft.

3. Open Garage Door

4. Hang tie-straps, 1 on each of the 4 corners fully extended.

5. Pull Bronco (SLOWLY) under open garage door until tie straps can be reached from inside the Bronco.

6. Connect tie-straps to each of the 4 corners of the top, tighten enough to take up slack.

7. Go back to each corner, lift top slightly and pull tie-straps tight again.

8. Pull Bronco out of Garage SLOWLY.

9. LOWER the top from it's hanging position on the Garage door track/frame to the floor slowly and carefully... a few feet on each corner progressively.
(DISCLAIMER: DO NOT STORE TOP HANGING IN THIS POSITION!!! Could result in damaged Garage Door, Garage Door Frame, Bronco Top, Bronco Owner or worst of all... Bronco Owners loved ones.)

10. Figure the rest out on your own... I'm going out TOPLESS BABY!!!! rockon

the white board is where the top goes. Couldn't pull in and take it off with the broken 302 on the floor. 3 pullies and one crank it goes up like a charm

It took you 1750 posts to take the top off with a lift?
:stupid:
I leave the top up on my lift, it suports it, and keeps it from flexing

Sorry. there are close ups of each pully and part on the above link.

I covered the windows in my garage to keep the next door kids from seeing my projects

its not as easy now with the lift, but i just go in the bed, stand up in the center and walk it off down a little ramp i have made. i wish i had a tree or something that overhangs my truck. i need to make an A frame.

I had a similar set up in my garage.

I attached the 4 straps into hooks lagged into studs in the ceiling. Then I backed in and opened the rear window. 60 seconds with the cordless drill, u-joint and socket and all the bolts are off. Slouched in the rear seat and pushed the top off with my feet and grabbed the 2 front straps and hooked them onto the top. Climbed in back, stuck my head out the rear window and lifted the back of the top with my shoulders. Now just reach each of the rear straps and hook them on as well. Climb in front and drive out.

Very secure, very easy, less than 5 minutes start to finish either direction.
