Gub_Ni 11-04-2004, 09:01 AM 1st to pimp!
Ok I'm going to give a story with each one of my pics. I don't have a bunch of pics, but I can do a write up about each. This pic is my avatar and one of my favorites. A friend took this one at a place here in Johnson City TN called Cash Hollow. It's an abandoned city dump. This is a poser shot as I just stopped for a moment for him to take a pic. This was my first time out with a locker in the rear. At the time I had a Dana 44 front that was converted to 8 lug and a Dana 60 rear running 4.56 gears. Going into the trail was so easy with the locker. My Bronco had very little flex so easy stuff for others was always a little challenging for me. When I traded for it the Bronco was already on 44's. Anyway, we played around for a little while and decided to go back out. That's when it got interesting. I got stuck and broke a Dana 60 shaft. Fortunatly since it's a full floater and I had a locker in the rear I was still going, but with no flex it took all night to get out. I now have a Dana 70 rear and Dana 60 front both locked. My theory is any time I break something then it needs to be upgraded.

94 XLT BRONCO 11-04-2004, 03:44 PM DO NOT VOTE FOR 4xPEPE`!!!

-Dennis
BikerPepe` 11-04-2004, 05:17 PM Is this a new stratagy :shrug Come on you have a nice rig man :thumbup
Thanks for the kind words, but my rig isn't trail ready... hell, it's barely poser ready. Right now it's the ONLY family rig we have and the rear end needs attention ASAP. I've got some 4.10's on the way... but until I can afford to have the rear rebuilt, I've got to take it easy and not trash it. On top of that... I need to get another 4 inches of lift under her, so I can stop rippin' up the 35's I paid so much to put under it. That means no serious wheelin' for the StoneBronco for awhile. I'm in a real crunch right now and whorin' out my ride against the likes of...
OX1
Bronkzilla
Gub_Ni
trey aka superbronco
dogonmut
... just isn't going to happen. I'll be givin my vote to one of these worthy rigs (no offense to those not listed, but those are the top rigs this month IMHO) and I think everyone else should too.
As much as I'd love to win this thing... I don't have anything new to offer, that I haven't already competed with and I just don't feel that my Bronco is worthy of a writeup in a national rag at this point and time. :shrug
FordFilly 11-04-2004, 05:24 PM Pepe, your an honorable man (and fellow motorcyclist) and I will only vote for another because I totally understand. :rockon

Gub_Ni 11-04-2004, 10:34 PM Hey, now guys, show some love to the Black Bear!
This was an insane hill climb, but the secret is not to let off the gas. Keep it more than half throttle so you don't stall and keep it as steady as possible and up she goes!

Anyone like to play in the mud? I got a call to help out a friend in a stuck jeep and decided to show him how it was done. I ask it this was where he got stuck and floored it and did some donuts.

-Here's the dash completed. I just love it. The finish was done with a vibrater sander with 216 grit sand paper. My dad and I step rolled the edge of the aluminum to give it a embossed look.

Bronkzilla 11-05-2004, 06:30 PM Raising the Gas Tank!!!! :rockon
the truck was down for a while so the mods began.......
as you all know the bronco gas tank is huge and it hangs down way below the frame.. it smacks on everything in sight...
first step.. remove the tank and cut a hole in the floor.. (not for the faint of heart)
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/gt1.JPG
me standing in the hole.. check out the size of that tank..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/gt2.JPG
new flat skidplate.. its flush with the frame... you can see how much it went up by looking at the exhaust.. before the raising of the tank the exhaust was higher than the tank.. (its been moved up since then)
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/gt3.JPG
started building the new raise floor section.. made an access hole for the fuel hose and to get to the fuel pump..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/gt4.JPG
fuel pump hole.. no more dropping the tank !!!!!!!!! :rockon :rockon

To my knowledge it is the only 78-79 supercab Bronco in existance. It's really sweet to watch people try to figure out what it is, I started building it in March 2001. Check out my website, SuperBronco Site (http://bandit99.clubfte.com/) for more pics. All the pics on the opening page link into additional pages. It's actually about 75% F250 (frame, running gear, and the front half of the cab) and the rear quarter section from a Bronco. :rebelflag

did the bushwackers rub the paint away?
Bronkzilla 11-06-2004, 02:47 PM the bushwackers came with a tube of black silicone type glue... the instructions said to put the fender flares on, trace the outide, remove the flare, sand the surface down on the fender, then put a bead of that glue on it.. i did it to the first one but since i was doing this by myself it became too much of a hassle so i didnt bother to do it with the others.. it did make a mess.. removed it with diesel and a rag..

1911copper 11-06-2004, 08:55 PM -Here's the dash completed. I just love it. The finish was done with a vibrater sander with 216 grit sand paper. My dad and I step rolled the edge of the aluminum to give it a embossed look.

A STORY: How the UNIBRONC came to be;
The 300$ beast on it's maiden wheelin voyage.
http://ox.users.superford.org/GREEN_DILYSI/Original/front.jpg
Towing a bronc with a bronc SUCKS!! :toothless
http://ox.users.superford.org/GREEN_DILYSI/Original/ontrailer.jpg
Extraction on the bumper never works. :cry
http://ox.users.superford.org/GREEN_DILYSI/Original/flat.jpg
Always wanted to do this. Problem is, after you squirt out 400 cubes of water from the motor, 8 gallons from the exh and crank it over forever, everything else is still wet. So when your radiator blows a hole in itself, but you don't know cause your guages are fogged over (and all your windows too). That leads to the tranny pissing out fluid on the pass exh manifold and a nice fire on the radius arm. Which of course you don't know about cause your butt is totally soaked and you can't feel the heat. :brownbag
http://ox.users.superford.org/GREEN_DILYSI/Original/JIMswamp.jpg
So a bunch of bronconuts from the original bronc mailing list decide to gather in Leadville Co. , back in 2000. I figure a rebuild is in order.
This is what it looked like then.

http://ox.users.superford.org/GREEN_DILYSI/greendone2.jpg

More overheating
http://ox.users.superford.org/Colorado/DCP00195.JPG
And a disiasterous week of no wheeling and a blown tranny.
http://ox.users.superford.org/Colorado/DCP00230.JPG
It was about that time, that I was doing a lot of wheeling with a guy who owned a hummer dealer. Those things went through the mudholes like a tractor tire rig. I decided I wanted that kind fo clearance, but as I found out, military hummers are not parted and sold on the open market. I stumbled on a Unimog site and almost bought a whole mog. Found a reputable guy that sold just the axles.
http://ox.users.superford.org/UNIMOG/First%20look/DCP00761.JPG
After stuffing the front axle under the bronc, it became evident that I either needed to move the front diff or put in 14 inches of lift. I had a custom front housing and inners made. That took 9 months to get. I also decided after the fact I wanted the 8 lug/disk conversion. Getting those hub nuts off as fun.
http://ox.users.superford.org/UNIMOG/DISKBRAKES/DISK%20INSTALL/DCP01065.JPG
So on top of all that, I had a "nice" relationship with an Alki and managed to get my finger stuck in a driveshaft. :banghead
http://ox.users.superford.org/MISC/Finger/DCP01084.JPG
Finally, about 3.5 years of various "delays", I get these mog axles in.

blueoval78 11-07-2004, 09:26 AM dammm this really turned out to be a tough month,
but im going with crawler.
just an all around sweet bronco, and incredible tallent for someone of his age.
Washburn 11-07-2004, 12:48 PM This month really shows it takes all kinds of Broncos to make this site what it is...from the mostly stock to radical. This site kicks ass. :thumbup :beer :rockon
godless 11-07-2004, 02:20 PM This is a really tough month I agree!
I am going to give it a few days to vote.
Bronco on Mogs.........

I need to do some thinking, so get whoring those pics.
Bronkzilla 11-07-2004, 02:39 PM Turning the rear tire carrier into a Jerry Can holder.
Back in Hollister 2002 the spare tire landed hard on a rock and broke tore almost all the metal holding it on. we twisted the rest off and threw the tire in the back.
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc1.jpeg
Something about lifting a 40" tire in the air didnt seem fun so i decided to turn it into a jerry can holder.. 1 gas 1 water... i used the existing tire carrier steel for most of the build. just cut it up and welded it together..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc2.jpeg
bought some 1/4" thick angle iron to creat the base.. it will take any hits from rocks so the cans dont explode..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc3.jpeg
test fit on the bronco.. notice the new postion of the hi-lift jack.. .before it used to catch on everything in site.. now its out of the way..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc4.jpeg
side view showing how little it sticks out.
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc5.jpeg
bottom up.. seems very well protect.
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc6.jpeg
made this hinged hold down/ locking system..
http://www.bronkzilla.com/images/fotmwhoringpics/tc7.jpeg
finished and painted with the new locks jackhart gave me

godless 11-08-2004, 03:50 PM Well, I voted for Raf because of many reasons.
This was tough for me because of all the other dedicated rigs, and the serious work that this months nominees put in.
I get a lot of my ideas from things that Raf has already done, or threw around.
He has always helped me with everything, and every question related to, or unrelated to Broncos without judgement or insult.
He is going to give me his 8 lug outers when he gets his 60 (:goodfinge)
and he is one of the top modified Broncos on the site.
So thanks again for everything Raf. You deserve a big win.
Scott (Dognutz) was a close second for all the same reasons. He is a stand up guy, and a real friend. He has also done a ton of good things to his Bko.
I wish we could pick two, but obviously we cant.
Next time bro :beer :beer :beer
Zach94 11-08-2004, 05:56 PM gotta go with raf. that truck is crazy because of all the work he has done to it. good guy too.

BigNorm 11-09-2004, 06:01 PM I voted for Raf. Daaaaammmnnn. I had no idea he had such a lead. It wasn't an easy decision though. There was tight competition as far as my vote went this month.
plug ugly 11-09-2004, 08:48 PM yeah, I dont usually have a problem voting, but it is tuff this month.
Jim, the mogs look good.
Scott, always a contender and someone I look to for advice/ideas
Raf, known for a while now as evident from those pics (those are pretty old Raf, funny shit) and has done a lot of work and learned a lot over the last few years.
and then there is Pepe, who is tireless in helping out the site in addition to his bronco and header tech article which helped me out a bunch.
Gub ni and trey's are nice too.
Tough choice, I just wont vote.

RedDirt4x4 11-12-2004, 09:20 PM This is a great contest, with some very impressive choices. Yes, I voted for Bronkzilla, but I expect to see several of these trucks win next year.
Crawler I really like where you are heading. I want to see a few sets of wheeling pics and some information about how things work or what you would do differently.
Pepe your truck may not have the most flex, or the biggest lift, but you have a nice truck. Don't sell yourself short. (no pun intended :histerica ) Your efforts here on the board are worthy of votes. I don't want to jinx this months vote, but look how nice things have gone so far :clap .
crawler 11-12-2004, 11:28 PM More pics I took. I was grounded and couldn't get on the coputer so here are more pics.

Bronco85 11-15-2004, 05:39 PM I had to Vote for Ox. I've been drooling over his broncos since I was in highschool and just found the bigbronco mailing list back around 96-97.
Quazimoto Is a kick ass freaking bronco. And he's gotta be the only one to go to the mud Bogs in a white truck, White Jeans and a White Shirt(I gotta see if I still have that picture it's great)
Ogeechee 4x4 11-15-2004, 05:48 PM I gotta give my vote to Bronkzilla--there have been many, many months that he has graciously bowed out of FOTM because he didn't think his Bronco was ready, but Dec. '04 belongs to Raffa :thumbup :rockon
Andrewdrice 11-15-2004, 07:02 PM more pics...........NOW.......please?

Drilim 11-16-2004, 01:42 AM Its November 16th (Barely)
I can honestly say this is by far the best FOTM contest, ever. Some seriously awesome rigs, awesome guys, and awesome knowledge in those 9 nominees.
Crawler is younger then me, and amazes me everytime he post pics of his progress.
But, Zilla... Not only is his POS actually finished, but he actually moved it from his driveway. Hes not only a good guy, but hes knowledgable, does alot for the site, and is just a great guy to have on the board.
My vote is for him, Its his month.
miseroth 11-16-2004, 01:53 PM As everyone has already said, lots of great looking rigs this month. Zilla's is awesome, but I like OX's a little better.
Congrats to everyone in the running this month!

cringe 11-20-2004, 09:06 PM i voted crawler, i've been following raf's bronco for ages, but i'm so impressed with the work that this kid has done, that it has swayed my vote his way.. nice work man, keep it up..

on a side note, I'm waiting for a Holley pro-jection in the mail that i picked up off ebay, is it worth doing a write up, and then testing it and pointing out the benefits/drawbacks of the setup? I mean would anyone be interested? well, might do it anyway and see.. I should be receiving it in the mail in 2 days, will take install photos the whole way then take it out and test it on extreme angles (my only bad experience with my holley carby)..
:rockon :rockon
anyway.. keep up the good work crawler, and well done to the other broncos this month, all awesome machines..

Hey 4xPepe` maybe you should make a lionk in the General; Chit Chat forum or just make a link in every forum to get people used to voting. Just throwing out ideas.
VOTE
Not necessarily for me but for anyone, just want to get this contest some more votes. Come on everyone!
Crawler, I have done that in the past. I have recieved some feedback and a couple of VOTES. I was planning on waiting 'till Monday and then hit it....
Thanx for the Ideas and GOOD LUCK!

PS You are right, with all the members we have here, there is no way You guys dont deserve atleast a 500 Vote Mark.....But, I will settle for 300 VOTES.....Baby steps first, then walk, then We RUN!!!!!! :rockon
Ranger429 11-21-2004, 04:56 PM Crawler I admire what you as a 17 year old have done with that Bronco, keep up the good work and it will be a top qualifier. :clap
Bronkzilla that Bronco is just flat out awesome, I am not big on the newer (older than 79 to me) Bronc's but some of those pic's you put up have swayed me.
My vote is in! Good Luck to all.

Bronkzilla 11-21-2004, 09:58 PM nope.. it kicked ass... i pushed it harder than i think i ever have before.. it did great.. ive never had so many people compliment me on my truck.. it felt great that something i built actually worked.. it worked even better than i had ever invisioned.. this park flexed the truck left and right... it was amazing how stable it felt.. im happy...
Zach94 11-21-2004, 10:20 PM wow
some of the most kick ass pictures i've seen in a while. how does the rear flex in that? it always looks like the front is way flexed out and the back is only moving a little bit. looks good, though
Bronkzilla 11-21-2004, 10:31 PM it doesnt flex as much but it did its job real well.. i have no complaints.. :toothless

i'm with Raf on this since i rode shotgun and test drove it. not to brag but it really felt like we were doing as good or even better then the jeeps and early broncos in our group. like he said the bronco does feel very stable and with tons of traction on those loose hills. at times it felt like we were unstopable lol.
my vote is to u and ur bronco :beer
nice work Rafael :thumbup

Dustin 11-22-2004, 09:30 AM very nice dude, glad to finally see that thing working the trails
Burl Swift 11-22-2004, 11:32 AM Raf...I bet a grin never left your face. Nice to see you get your rig out, I bet you suprised a bunch of those Jeepers.
Looks great. Did Chris ride shotgun the whole trip or did he wheel his rig? I see it in one of the pictures but its parked.

Everyone was very impressed. A well built rig gets respect, regardless of what it is, and Bronkzilla is one well built rig. He took everything we had to dish out, and it was great to watch. EVERYONE took body damage this trip out, so it wasn't just a small rig vs. big rig thing. We were gettin' it for sure. :chili:
There are pics of Chris wheeling, btw...I figure Raf didn't want to post them here since this is the FOTM thread, not the "look at all of our wheeling trip pics!" thread. :thumbup
Burl Swift 11-22-2004, 12:23 PM I didn't mean for it to sound like a Jeep vs. Bronco thing, nor did I mean to take away from the FOTM.
Thanks, I search for the pictures of Chris, I love that thing.

Goose 11-23-2004, 10:46 AM Blanco . . .if you have a slow computer like mine, use the pause button on the player to allow the video to down load before playing. I had to "pause" several times to get it to play smoothly. :thumbup
Now, I have waited till late in the game and just flipped thru the entire thread. As others have stated lots of good looking rigs. :rockon
-Crawler's bronc is awesome, especially for his age . . . wish my parents would have let me get a bronco
-Ox again awesome rig and I really dig those unimog axles to get so much ground clearence
-Zilla, awesome bronc again and love the coilovers and the video. Some very :uke: flex
-Gub Ni, awesome air in the '79 which persuades and calls for my attention
Well . . .my vote goes to Zilla. :thumbup
Early congrat's seem to be in order with your huge lead so here is mine :beer
To the others who were running, keep up the great work cause your broncs were very awesome in each of there own. It was truly a hard decision.
