ZOSO 02-26-2003, 10:45 PM Sorry I may not be able to wheel much longer as a tick/clatter started and is gettin worse. I will be makin a run to the junkyard again this sat. to find a builder 460. I may just go up and see what happens. If we do plan a trip then ya cant backout like everybody else did. MOUNTAINMAN 02-27-2003, 11:22 AM If we do plan a trip then ya cant backout like everybody else did. Yeah, what Rob said. We still had plenty of fun with just the two of us, but a few more would have been better. I'm up for another run anytime after this weekend. I still need a warm day when I can get some help putting my extended arms on. Then I should be able to get more flex for even more fun. Rob, let me know if you want any help with that motor project. What yard are you going to on Sat.? ZOSO 02-27-2003, 11:16 PM I'm not goin on saturday as now I have to work 10+hrs :( But I cant complain cause itll get me the money to build my motor. Broncobob 02-28-2003, 01:34 AM As far as backing out, I told you all from the get go that I could probably not make it, and told a definate no a good day ahead. Boss74 still needs to get his carb, which should be done soon. (Yall have to remember though he is geared so low he can't go much more than 55) Anyways I am up for anything, bronco gets back tomorrow, so they say, with about 1500 out of my pocket. oh well, I know everything is in good order. MOUNTAINMAN 02-28-2003, 02:44 PM You must have really messed that rear end up. $1500? What did they do, replace everything you tried to replace? Don't worry about Boss74 only being able to go 55. We go up clear creek canyon and can't go over that anyway. Broncobob 02-28-2003, 07:16 PM I didn't mess anything or install anything wrong. My driveshaft was out of ballance, and that messed up the backlash in the ring and pinion, which I didn't touch. I told them to replace ALL of the bearings in that rear axle, since the ring and pinion was out anyways, and not to do the outers because I just did them. When they went to go do it, pulled the axle shafts out, and found where the bearings rest on the axles, had dug into the axles about 1/100th of an inch, so I went back to my old axles again. They found out that the new ones I had put in were out of ballance, I can only guess they were messed up in shipping, because when I received them they were sitting outside the box, and the box ripped like mad. Also, where the bearings sits on that outer part of the shafts, one side was dug in more than the other, so there was definately something out of wack with the shafts. I'm just glad I am set for a loooong time with that rear axle, basically everything in there is new. ahhjaws 02-28-2003, 11:14 PM Hey everyone! My name's Chris. I am the coordinator for Club 4x4ord. If anyone in CO is interested in joining go here: www.4x4ord.com We are right now planning a trip to the Boulder area March 8-10. Most of the members aren't too experienced, so the trails won't be too hard, but we still have a great time. We organize our trips here: http://4x4orum.aimoo.com See ya and have fun!! Broncobob 03-02-2003, 11:21 PM Got the bronco back Friday night and it feels like driving a posche, really. Hahha, but it certainly feels ALOT better than it did. So I am ready when everyone else is, I will get Boss74 to get his carb done in a week or so. MOUNTAINMAN 03-03-2003, 02:26 PM Okay. Keep us posted on when Boss74 is ready and we'll make some plans. Foghorn 03-03-2003, 03:10 PM Hey mountain man...It looks like I'll be somewhere in Colorado this summer visting my folks, they're trying to lease a condo for a few weeks..I'm gonna try to have Bronco completed by then, If we're gonna be close how's about hooking up and doing some trails???? P.S.---That goes for anyone in Colorado!! ZOSO 03-03-2003, 07:17 PM This sat the 8th I cant do cause gotta go get an engine. Then the slow build up prosses. Bob let us know when chris is ready and I'm there. :D  I'm ready unless my engine comes apart. Broncobob 03-03-2003, 09:46 PM RgR, I will let you all know when Boss74 gets his shindig done. If ya need help pulling the 460 let us know, I am sure we all can help. Well, I don't know wtf I am doing but I can do something certainly. MOUNTAINMAN 03-04-2003, 02:22 PM Where are you at now Foghorn? Bob, what's the matter with Boss74's carb that he needs a new one? Broncobob 03-04-2003, 04:35 PM He has the street avenger carb, or something similiar. IT does ok at slants, but if you turn it off after it getting hot, it has a dog of a time starting and loses a monkey load of power. He is getting an off road one, or the q-jet. He just got another leak today between the tranny and the clutch, so we have to investigate that one too now. Foghorn 03-04-2003, 06:51 PM I'm in Oklahoma City.....Am gonna order the d. cepek lift this week and hopefully install by the end of the month, the truck should be ready by the time I'm gonna be there.... MOUNTAINMAN 03-04-2003, 07:02 PM He has the street avenger carb, or something similiar. IT does ok at slants, but if you turn it off after it getting hot, it has a dog of a time starting and loses a monkey load of power. He is getting an off road one, or the q-jet. Ask him if he wants me to build that one for offroad for him. The only thing he'll have to pay for is the parts to do it. It would be a whole lot cheaper than a new carb. ZOSO 03-05-2003, 01:00 AM If its a holley then it sounds as if the power valve is blown. That happens when it sneezes or burps thru the carp. A simple rebuild will do. He should have tim rebuild it and then we can go up to see if it works. MOUNTAINMAN 03-05-2003, 01:33 PM If it turns out to just be the power valve, I've got a few new ones here with different kick in points that were only $5 each. Depending on how old the carb is, that could be the problem. If it's a newer carb, they already have built in power valve protection. There are kits available for older carbs to protect the valve. Broncobob 03-05-2003, 03:59 PM I told Boss74 to start posting here, he says thx for the offer, but just wants to get a new one in there. He said he might take ya up on installing it, something about jetting the carb, not sure what that is. MOUNTAINMAN 03-05-2003, 04:06 PM I've got a few sets of main jets too. (for Holley) When you buy a new carb they're calibrated for sea level, so up here they have to be rejetted for the high altitude and thin air in order to get the air/fuel mixture right. fullsizebronco12 08-21-2003, 01:08 AM hay my 81 has a holly in it and when i get to high on the mountain it satrts to shit and lose power,,,,,any one now someone that can give it a high aitt adjustmeant for me and how much will it cost????????????????????? |
