SCROLL DOWN A LITTLE BIT TO SEE THE PICTURE

I need to sell my bronco but I have no idea what it's worth. I bought it from someone else who put on all the modifications and I've just been driving it around because it looks cool. I don't have a picture that I can post but please read the description and let me know how much you think it's worth.

Desc.

'89 Ford Bronco, 5.8 liter 351 Windsor (rebuilt, roughly 40,000 miles), 3 in lift, 33 in offroad tires, Rancho suspension and shocks, Flowmaster exhaust, custom roll cage, alloy wheels, EFI system, posi-traction, color is a nice black with black shell and tinted windows (looks sweet, that's why I bought it), black bar step sides to match the paint, odometer reads 180,000.

Bad things.

I took out the stereo, the AC doesn't work (person I bought it from said he thought the AC needed a new motor), power locks and windows need to be rewired or somthing because they don't work, minor damage to the paneling under the passenger side headlight, passenger side quarter panel has a dent in it that is causing the door on that side to not open, something is wrong with the hydrolics for brake system (when I push on brake pedal I can hear air escaping and I have to use a lot of strength to press down the pedal to make this mother stop), There is a pretty good size gash in the driver side seat in the normal area (it doesn't affect comfort but it sure doesn't look to good), the paint has chips in the normal areas but there is no rust.

So the bottom line is, this thing looks sweet and runs strong, but nobody can get into the passenger side and it's hard to stop because of the brake problem. I have no idea if the 4x4 works right because I have never used it. The KBB value is $2200 for fair condition but with all the upgrades on this thing and how sweet it looks I'm guessing it's worth more than that.

Anybody have an idea of what I should ask for it? I'm in the Los Angeles area by the way.

Thanks.

Would need pics but I wouldn't count on the extras and looks to raise the price much...after all it's still 15 years old..:shrug

With all of those problems, I'd bet it's worth less then $2200.

I'll get some pictures of it posted next week, I'm having a mechanic look it over next week too so I'll have a better idea of what has been added on to this thing and what all it's problems are.

Well my mechanic says the brakes are pretty much worthless and anything and everything that has to do with the brakes should be replaced. I'm able to drive it around but I only do so late at night because if you get stuck in traffice with these brakes...you're gonna have a bad time. Almost all of the electrical doesn't work, the headlights and dome lights work and that's about all.

The mechanic said if I wanted to get the most out of it that I should part it out because it has over $4000 in parts but since I live in an apartment I can't do that so he suggested a good selling price would be $2500 obo. I'm taking digital pics of it today so hopefully I'll have them posted soon.

Bottom line, it looks cool, drives good except that the brakes don't work very well and need to be completely replaced, bad electrical problems, and many other problems that I won't list here but let's just say the thing needs some work.

$2500 OBO
Los Angeles, CA surrounding area (Thousand Oaks, CA)

At the very least it will be a good way to get all the replacement parts for your current Bronco that you will ever need.

I doubt you'll get that. Have him quote you how much it'll cost to get everything working and deduct that from the $2200 KBB value.

Sweet, I got a picture posted, you all have no idea how amazing that is to me. Anyway Clarko, if I took the KBB value and subtracted the cost to totally fix this thing then I would have to pay somebody to take it away LOL. As you can see from the pic it's very nice and it runs great except for the brakes. Even if you just wanted it for parts it's worth over 2000. The tires are practically brand new, the engine has to be worth around 500, the front suspension is worth about 1000 and the transmission is in good condittion too. I realize that most people wouldn't buy this because of it's condition but I think there are still a lot of people out there who know how to fix it up and once they do, all the stuff to make it look really nice has already been done for them. What do you guys think of the pic?

Your diaphram in your brake booster (the big flat round thing omn the firewall) is shot, that is why you are hearing the air and hard braking...easy fix.

Looks pretty good. Sounds like some minor problems besides the brakes.

What kind of rollcage? ie. 4 point or 6 point? other?

I doubt it would be worth more than KBB. Unless it's seriously modified, mods typically bring down value of a vehicle.

Hell, I bought an entire 89 F-250 Ex.Cab. Longbed for $200 with a rebuilt trans. Only had blown headgasket, no other problems. I'd just sell it what you got it for to cut your losses. Especially with gas what it is around here, I doubt anyone will want to deal with all of those problems. I must really sound mean in this thread but I'm trying to not get your hopes up about it.

You guys are all right about it probably not being worth much but this thing is way too cool to let go for $1000 and I'm guessing there are a lot of teenagers in Thousand Oaks who want a huge off road truck and Daddy's with deep pockets to buy them one. Clarko knows but for the rest of you, I live in Westlake Village where everyone is rich as fools. Anyway, Clarko did you ever get that PM I sent to you like a month ago? I was telling you that I work in Woodland Hills, corner of Burbank and Canoga.

Here is a rough list of what my mechanic told me,

BRAKES:
Need new front pads, rear shoes, rear wheel cylinders, drums need to be machined if possible or replaced, front rotors need to be machined if possible or replaced, bearings may need to be replaced, front hubs need new seals, new vacuum booster (he says this is why I hear air escaping), new master cylinder. He said he could get them in working condition for $350 but to make them in good condition it will take about $1000 of parts and labor.

Tune Up $250

Trans. Service $100

Rear shocks need replaced

Probably needs new transfer case for 4x4

Mechanic says it would cost about $3000 to make this thing cherry and he could cut corners and make everything run good for $1000.

This probably doesn't include fixing all the electrical and it would still need the AC fixed and a radio.

So as you can see simply taking the KBB and subtracting cost to fix simply does not apply in this situation. This truck is worth something to the right person, say someone who already has a bronco but wants new tires and wheels, new and bigger engine, new transmission, and new front suspension, roll cage, etc. etc. etc....

Nah, never got a PM from you. Are you sure you sent me a PM and not an email?

I think it's a 4 point since it attaches at 4 places...but really I have no idea.

It might help ya sell it with pics of the interior and some of the mods and damage

If I put pictures of the interior and listed the damage then it would never sell LOL.

I talked to the previous owner yesterday. He said he put a brand new factory axle on the back and replaced all the spider gears and the ratio is 4:11. It has a $2000 suspension kit on the front but the back is stock. The engine is a rebuilt 351 with about 60,000 miles on it (all highway...don't ask). The tires are 33's and have 90 percent tread if not more left and the previous owner had a lifetime guarantee on the them so to replace was only $25 each, but not sure if I can get it transferred to the new owner (anyone know?) It has a flowmaster exhaust system, new drive train, and that's about it. If you put $350 into the brakes you can get this thing into fair condition. The rest of the repairs are totally up to the buyer but IMHO fair condition means that a lot of crap needs to be fixed and deducting the cost to fix it all from the price would be rediculous. At this point I'll take $2000 for it which makes it the best deal on a bronco in the area that I live. Here's an idea, if you have a stock bronco how about buying all your mods and replacement parts in one big bundle and save yourself thousands of dollars...???
