View Full Version : Project Blanco has begun!! Finally
BlancoBronco 12-10-2004, 11:17 PM Ok guy I know you guys have been wondering when am I ever going to get started...?
Well this past sat. dec. 4th I delived my Blonco to Rodd Fantelli's motorsports in romona , calif. 1 760 787 9219.
I had mattF250 follow me down there so he could give me a ride back.(Nice guy)
Rodd's already had my donor rig apart waiting for my Blanco to start swaping..
For those of you that dont know the story...
I bought a donor rig of another FSB member "JCA"
He had too many projects going at once so he wanted to sell a few things..
I was on the waiting list with Eaton for a set of their E-lock selectable lockers for my 8.8 but they kept saying for months that will have them ready next month then next month was there & they would say oh you know what maybe next month.. I was going to start my project with lockers.
So I started looking around a little bit at other ideas & noticed "JCA"
Had is bronco for sale on here..
& after discussing it with other FSB'ers that did'nt know I was considering buying it.( what they thought of his rig? is it any good ? I'd ask :shrug
what about his set up etc..)
Everyone seemed to speak highly of it( mind you I never led on that I wanted to buy it...Most thought he had already sold it a while back )
So i dont think people were trying to built him up to help it sell. :shrug
Rodd fantelli built his set up for him & I'd been talking to rodd for about 4 months prior to this ever happening , About him building me a hot long travel set up for my Blanco...
When he pointed out....."hey have you considered buying Jc's bronco?"
Its beat up but its got all the cool stuff like coil overs, air bumps deaver leaf springs. etc 15 & 1/4 inches travel front & rear
So I started thinking about it more seriously
It had more stuff such as coil overs bilstien 9100's,
I would not be able to afford buying other wise plus it had more travel then I would of got having rodd build me a fresh kit.
For the money I wanted to spend.
For the money it seemed a no brainer Buy the Green bronco & take all the good parts for my Blanco, That I think are worthy & have one bad ass bronco..
Rodd also told me that he was willing to swap over all the parts that I wanted for free as long as he can keep the old green heap to build into another race toy or something.
So I have no labor cost at all in the suspension swap.
Yes I consider running 2 broncos one that was already beat up & I could feel free to push it because body damage would'nt be an issuse.
But I dicided againt it because then I would have twice the maintanace..
& I think the green bronco need'ed alot of work to bring up to where I would find it acceptable.
the engine needed work the transfer case was making Clicking noise's etc etc etc......
So now that the project is underway I will post pics as they come...
I left him(Rodd) with a few throw away cameras to take pics for me during the transformation.
His shop is over 2 hrs from me so I wont be able to visit much :cry
I am also having him build me a few things ...
Like a custom front & rear Bumper , The bumpers are going to be a combo of "dustin"' & "caster troy" & what ever Rodd likes
I order'ed, from "Dustin" a set of his rock sliders
Rodds also building me a 6 point cage, with mounts for my 60" Hi lift jack & spare tire.( If I can get it to fit inside behind the back seat....Its a 35"....You think it'll fit between the tail gate & the back of the back seat mounted upright?)
He's also Mounting an accusump system for me.
& a few other things I requested
OK enough of the text!!!!!
On to the pics............. :chili: :chili: :chili: :chili:
1st a couple of other things he's playing with....
That red fiberglass buggy is my total wet dream of all the buggy fantasy's I've ever had over the years!!
If you could see the work he's got going on at his shop you'd understand why I dont just find a closer guy to do the work!!
Yeah he's that good! :rockon
BlancoBronco 12-10-2004, 11:24 PM Pics of my project..
the green has been canableized.. :thumbup
I'll post more later....
I gotta go....
bronco831 12-10-2004, 11:28 PM Im diggin the skid plate!
crawler 12-11-2004, 01:36 AM Your bronco will be sweet when it is done. That Yellow truck looks sweet.
BlancoBronco 12-11-2004, 05:14 AM Im diggin the skid plate!
If any of you guys like the bumpers,....... They are for sale CHEAP!!!!
You pay any shiping...
The big rear chrome one off my Blanco is for sale as well!! :thumbup
Just let CRAZZZYYY Cam know ..
I almost giving them away!!!
To be honest I hope I could sell the bumpers to help offset the price of mods.. :histerica
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 02:18 AM Heres some pics of my rear bilstein 9100 shocks
& my air bump stops
& how it was mounted to my old donor Bronco
bAdKARma88 12-12-2004, 02:24 AM This fantelli guy is doing all the work for you?
Bronco85 12-12-2004, 02:27 AM Air bump stops. Can you give us some more information on those? I have a freind that is putting on hydrolic stops on his. But they are way to rich for my blood.
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 02:28 AM I figured who better to set it up properly, Than the man that designed it him self!
And he's doiong my cage & bumpers etc....
If you do a google search ( like I did )
you'll find nothing but good press on him!
like how he's a really good fabricator! :thumbup
FatMan 12-12-2004, 02:33 AM for a minute there i thought the frame was cut looking good so all those part's are going on the white bronco? what's haapeneing with jc's body and frame?
crawler 12-12-2004, 02:37 AM I think the deal was that Fantanelli gets it
FatMan 12-12-2004, 02:40 AM all this craziness is making me want to build a fullsize bronco. im affraid if i get something though i'll get in over my head. :toothless
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 02:40 AM I think the deal was that Fantanelli gets it
crawler is correct!
If you read the long ass thing I wrote( I know its too long )Then you'd know this already.
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 02:44 AM Air bump stops. Can you give us some more information on those? I have a freind that is putting on hydrolic stops on his. But they are way to rich for my blood.
Its a hydrolic action.
runs much smoother then butting up against a stop that dont move ....
Rubber & poly. only flex so much..
Sure the bump stops dont have unlimited travel but when they do it, they are much smoother.. :thumbup
Yeah they run about $250.00 each
FatMan 12-12-2004, 02:46 AM :goodfinge i did read it but that bronco does'nt look green to me or maybe im missing something with the book you wrote :histerica
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 02:50 AM :goodfinge i did read it but that bronco does'nt look green to me or maybe im missing something with the book you wrote :histerica
:lolup :lolup :lolup :lolup
It was a book hu?
& I stopped because I relized you guys were probably getting bored, & wanted me to bring on the pics!
I have more but dont want to blow my wad all at once! :goodfinge
FatMan 12-12-2004, 02:53 AM stingy :goodfinge
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 06:03 AM :goodfinge i did read it but that bronco does'nt look green to me
I know when I looked at pics of it on line before I went to see it in person I thought it was grey!
It just really oxidized... thats why it comes out looking grey in the pics..
But its green....trust me :goodfinge
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 06:06 AM this time we got the front coil overs along with the rear deaver leafs
etc etc...
crawler 12-12-2004, 12:33 PM Was anything painted on the donor bronco? I would love theose coilovers :goodfinge
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 04:59 PM If you mean are the donor parts getting painted before installation.....
Yeah the parts may not be new,
But they are new to me so I told them I wanted them painted or cleaned up to look nice...
I'm kinda like you in that I like things to look nice. :thumbup
knowing me & I do ,
I'll probably find things they could of made look nicer & I'll have to touch up later, ( Analness you know )
crawler 12-12-2004, 05:02 PM I ment was anything painted on the donor bronco? It looksd rusty as hell.
texastrucker 12-12-2004, 05:12 PM ill take that front bumper off your hands!!! name a price if you want to sell.... :toothless :brownbag
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 05:33 PM ill take that front bumper off your hands!!! name a price if you want to sell.... :toothless :brownbag
$50.00
I know you'll never find a prerunner front bumper with skid plate for less than that! :thumbup
Like I said CRAZY CAM is praticly giving these parts away!!
But 1st go to my super motors page and take some closer looks at it
He made it wider than it should be ..
Because he planed on having those wider prerunner style fenders.
But I dont have a clue whats involved in shipping stuff.
I have never done it before..
I'm sure you can walk me through it.
& to "Crawler" As for what I know everything on that rig is stock it only has whatever paint the factory put ot it.
if you talking about the frame mount for the rear air bump.....well maybe he did'nt paint it very well there I dont know..
as for the rest of it, I would'nt say it was rusted much...
More dented...
OH wel I guess you could say without a doubt thats its paint is oxidized
Maybe it looked more rusted than an actually is.. :shrug
BlancoBronco 12-12-2004, 11:26 PM I spoke to Rodd earlier today & he tells me the suspension is all on!!
With just a few little tweaks needed here & there....
Tomarrow he starts on my 6 point roll cage! :chili: :chili:
Ok Now I have a queston for some of you guys....
I have ( currently ) SuperWinch manual hubs on this project...
But I never heard of SuperWinch hubs before?
Are they any good?
I also have a spare set of warns .
I was hoping some of you guys could tell me about these SuperWinch Hubs?
I assume they must be as good as MileMarker or your typical gold Warns :shrug
Please help me out with any info you have ... Thanks.
Heres a pic of the Hub.
Stokes 12-13-2004, 04:36 AM those hubs arnt too bad, i ran em on my TTB and Tony is still running his with his 38's (might i add CTMS and Warn shafts on the D44) they seem to hold preaty good.
BlancoBronco 12-15-2004, 11:03 PM The suspension is all done ! :chili:
The cage is Done with Highlift jack (60") mounted on the angled tube from the tailgate (drivers side.)
& the spare tire fit inside the bed mounted up right to save space & departure angle :chili:
& now come the Bumpers! :chili:
& heres the last of whatever pics I've been holding back..
I should have it back just after X-mas.. in time for Truck heaven! :clap
BlancoBronco 12-20-2004, 09:59 PM Broncos with tube bumpers & sliders painted white?
I notice most paint them black...( I dont like being like every body else..)
So I'm having him paint them white for me...
I plan on powder coating them once I know for sure what color I want them..
the front & rear bumpers & sliders will all be bolted on so I can remove them to powder coat them..
Being I call my bronco the BlancoBronco I thought it might be cool to keep it all white. :shrug
bAdKARma88 12-20-2004, 10:44 PM neither the powder coating or white paint will last long if you actually wheel this thing... spray paint it black so it looks decent and is easily fixed after you bang em up
peteyg 12-20-2004, 10:58 PM neither the powder coating or white paint will last long if you actually wheel this thing... spray paint it black so it looks decent and is easily fixed after you bang em up
I second that. White on the rockers and bumpers is a mistake. It'll look cool, but the first time you take it wheeling, you'll understand why it was a mistake. My Heep is black, the bumpers are black, the wheels are black, the rockers are black...you get the idea. Krylon is my best friend.

I guess some of these Web sites might scratch my powder coating :wacko :histerica
seriously tho....
I thought about that too....
But I also thought that powder coating is much tuffer than reg. paint.?? :shrug
Yeah your probably right why spend the extra money....
I am painting all my black parts with OSH'es satin black spray paint.
Maybe I should just use the same on my tubes .....
That way the paint all matches at least :shrug

Powder coat is for sure tougher than paint, but it's not THAT much tougher, and nothing is tougher than sand and rocks....
The satin black is an excellent idea, and all it takes to make it look brand new again is 10 minutes of sanding and prep and 30 seconds of spraying. Hell, I once ground one of my door frames all the way to bare metal, and I was able to clean it and blasted it with Krylon Gloss Black...my wife never even noticed... :brownbag
Dustin 12-21-2004, 12:06 AM yup dont waste the coin on powdercoating, its not easy to touch up like rattle can.
BlancoBronco 12-21-2004, 12:24 AM yup dont waste the coin on powdercoating, its not easy to touch up like rattle can.
Thanks for setting me striaght guys.... :thumbup
Now how about the white paint on the tubes?
Anybody got pics of that?
Broncokid 12-21-2004, 04:54 PM you sell that front bumper off the black bronk?
Marauder 12-21-2004, 06:50 PM Maybe I missed why but, why black? They sell white spray paint too. White hides scratches good but not like that matters when you can just spray paint back over it anyways.
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 12:10 AM I did'nt say I had to run Black...
But I noticed most do...
Being the BlancoBronco I want to try out white & see what I think about it..
I painting them white first. :thumbup
Then if I dont like it I'll paint them Black.
You never really see them painted white..Its always black.
I've only seen tube prerunner style bumpers painted white ......like 2 times..
& I thought they looked kinda cool . :rockon
So if anybodys got pics of this , I was hoping you could share them. :thumbup
& as far as the Front bumper off my GREEN Bronco its still in san diego,
I should be picking it up in about a week then the bumper goes Bye Bye..
I have like 4 guys in line already wanting that bumper.
So I guess you could say its gone. :shrug
But nobodys asking for the back ones?
So if any body is interested....
crawler 12-22-2004, 01:01 AM I say go for the powder coat. It is a lot stronger than paint. That's why buggy frames and everything are powder coated so that when you step on the bars and slide on them they don't scratch or chip. Evfen sand buggy frames are powder coated so the sand doesn't dull the paint by sand blasting it.
Dustin 12-22-2004, 01:07 AM I say go for the powder coat. It is a lot stronger than paint. try that when bashing it into the rocks, powercoat wont hold up any better than rattle can there. http://www.superford.org/getfile/88275/fullsize/PA110077.JPG
It comes down for what you will be doing with the truck, if its just for show and maybe a little sand then powdercoat it, its on the lines of chroming something. all the sand guys chrome and powercoat everything. people that accually wheel rattle can everything, cause the have to touch it up every few trips.
crawler 12-22-2004, 01:13 AM I know it might get scratcheds up and everything, but powder coat is still stronger. He could powder coat his bumpers and paint his sliders. Powder coat can take some abuse if put on right.

Well I dont like playing in the rocks....... :shrug
But There is rocks in the dirt & stuff I play on??............................ :histerica Thanks
You do have a point.....
AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! :histerica
To powder coat or not to powder coat?
I know it would look better but when I does flake off that will bite..
Powder coating aint cheap.
Well I still have time to think about that... :thumbup
Dustin 12-22-2004, 01:18 AM I bet you I can tear up the best powercoating......
I get about a year out of the hammerrite on my bumpers before it will fade. 5bucks and its good as new, AZ summer sun is harse on paint. sliders usally paint every couple trips depending on how much I use them. I step on mine almots everyday and dont wear the paint off the top of the slider. everyone always asks me if my stuff is powercoated. Is just black hammerrite when painted correctly looks awsome IMO and a hell of alot cheaper.
another thing to think about is if you every have to make a mod to something like adding a light tab for example. its much easier to grind a little paint, weld, and throw a little touch up on it and never know you where in there.
Marauder 12-22-2004, 01:21 AM Damn, I could have really used that front bumper. I like the rear one too, damn shipping.
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 01:24 AM http://www.superford.org/getfile/88275/fullsize/PA110077.JPG
Is that powder coat?
Are you speaking from experiance?
I know you do alot more rocks than I plan on doing but...........You never know what the trail will throw at you.!
I think if done right the spay can could look good..
You'd probably have to sand it down some each time tho hu? :shrug
I think powder coating is thick & so touching it up would probably be more difficult....
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 01:29 AM another thing to think about is if you every have to make a mod to something like adding a light tab for example. its much easier to grind a little paint, weld, and throw a little touch up on it and never know you where in there.
Very good point.
so what is Hammerrite? A Brand?
Dustin 12-22-2004, 01:31 AM thats just black hammerite spray paint, like everything on my truck. depending on how much the sliders have been drug on the rocks determines how much grinding I need to do, usally just take a flapper wheel on the grinder and get all the rough jagged metal off and kinda blend it in. then just hit it with some paint and its good as new. I can usally just touch up the messed up sections and blend it in without painting the whole thing.
william_ace 12-22-2004, 01:41 AM If your looking for the powercoat look, you should try a coat of engine block spray paint. its cheap, looks like powdercoating and is touch up able. i did it on my replacemnt bumpers on my truck. i'll get some pics so you can see how it looks.
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 01:44 AM I assume its a Brand?
I ask because I wonder if it also comes in white....In case I go with White.
You seem to really like this stuff I noticed you've talked about it in the past...
Bronkzilla 12-22-2004, 02:09 AM my front bumper is powder coated.. i ground some of it off in truck haven.. my sliders and lower exo is painted with Krylon Rust Tough Enamel.. It took alot of it off pivoting on stuff, i wiped the dirt and sprayed it all down and it looks good..
Oh and they make that hammertite stuff in tons of colors.. You can also get it in 1 gallon cans to spray on with a gun or brush on.. my trailer and wheels are painted with it.. ill see if i can find a pic
Bronkzilla 12-22-2004, 02:17 AM this isnt the "hammertite" brand but its basically the same stuff..

BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 02:18 AM my front bumper is powder coated..
So are you saying thats what you recommend?
Oh and they make that hammertite stuff in tons of colors.. You can also get it in 1 gallon cans to spray on with a gun or brush on.. my trailer and wheels are painted with it.. ill see if i can find a pic
:banghead AAARRGGGGGHHH........That Hammerrite stuff??..............Is it a brand? A type of paint? Is it made different than other paints? lets say rustolium... or ? :shrug :histerica :histerica :histerica
Why did you paint your trailer & wheels with it?
peteyg 12-22-2004, 02:24 AM So are you saying thats what you recommend?

Why did you paint your trailer & wheels with it?
No, I think what he's saying is that he scratched up his nice expensive powder coated front bumper and now has to spray paint it to touch it up.
Rustoleum Hammered and Hammerite are basically the same type of paint. Did you look at the pictures he posted? It gives that kinda burled finish, is very tough, and is really easy to touch up when you mess it up. I want to paint my whole Bronco with that stuff, but the wife is resisting.
Bronkzilla 12-22-2004, 02:28 AM So are you saying thats what you recommend?(powder coat)
my thoughts.. paint it with whatever paint you want if you plan to scratch it. powder coat it if you will try to avoid scratching it.. it will take more work to ding the powdercoat but it can be done.. really cool stuff...
:banghead AAARRGGGGGHHH........That Hammerrite stuff??..............Is it a brand? A type of paint? Is it made different than other paints? lets say rustolium... or ? :shrug :histerica :histerica :histerica
its a textured paint.. the wheels have a thick coat since i wanted the detail to stand out more.. the result will vary depending on how you spray it.. ketchup, catsup.. same $#!T different bottle
Why did you paint your trailer & wheels with it?
cause it seems stronger than regular paint and the texture acts a bit like a no slip surface.. not much but better than nothing...
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 02:34 AM No, I think what he's saying is that he scratched up his nice expensive powder coated front bumper and now has to spray paint it to touch it up.

Ah!!
Whats burled?
What I did notice is that Rafs pics looked like they had a strong pattern..One you would feel if running your finger over it.(kinda like the surface of a piece of bread, But smooth)
Yet Dustins pics look completely Smooth!! & very even Flowed like you would expect The paint job on your fender to be.
So what you guys are saying is that this hammerrite has a very strong paint surface that will hold up to light scuffs? Compared to most others?
It also looks thicker.. From the scratches on Dustins sliders..
Andy351 12-22-2004, 02:38 AM clear coat and leave it raw metal
Bronkzilla 12-22-2004, 02:38 AM we sprayed the wheels alot so we could get a thicker pattern.. you can get it to look smooth or rough depending on how you spray it.. go buy a can from autozone and test it out on stuff..
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 02:46 AM For all this info....
Sounds like really good stuff..
& I can get in Black or white Or whatever hu? kewl!
So Raf is that what you were saying that powder coating Bad! Hammrrite Good! ?
BrettM 12-22-2004, 02:54 AM Hammerite IS a brand name, and Hammertone is a type/style named after the brand (it WAS 1st!). It is basically a super-duty enamel, like Centari or Imron (both of which are illegal in California now, unless you are spraying equipment--wink, wink!). Hammerite/Hammertone is a heavyily textured finish (think heavy orange-peel) w/a typically different colored vein running through it. Typical colors are light metallic green (like '93-6 Broncos) w/a silver vein, black w/silver, silver w/black, and light metallic blue w/silver (lots of color combos ). It is comonly used on cold saws, mills, lathes, etc. It is tougher than paint; not quite as tough as powder coat. Powder coat is thick, so cuts/scrapes/scratches will need more touch-up to fill. Since everything your thinking of coating unbolts, you can rattle-can different colors over the next few months, test and see how much abuse they take, then pick either the hammertone (hard to touch-up; looks really cool) or powdercoat (1000s of colors). Good luck! :thumbup
Bronkzilla 12-22-2004, 03:00 AM So Raf is that what you were saying that powder coating Bad! Hammrrite Good! ?
nope.. its all good stuff..
Dustin 12-22-2004, 09:50 AM these guys covered it....go buy a can and play around with spraying it to find what you like. personally I like the rustolum brand better, it is easier to apply
BlancoBronco 12-22-2004, 11:52 PM Ok heres the lastest for those of you that care to know..
My Master cylinder is going to have to be moved.. :banghead
Its gotta move 90 degrees inward as the pic below...
The top of the coil over towers & the brace in between Need the room..
So it gotta move.
And I was looking at some pics from Rodds shop & found another pic of what my Front suspension should look like..
So I also included that pic as well..
No Its not my rig ..
But for those of you as egar to see it as myself.......
Heres another rig with the same set up. :thumbup
Its a good pic of the radius arm , the air bumps mounting point & the coil over tower.
90Beater 12-23-2004, 02:12 AM So I guess that means no wheelin tomarrow? :(
UPS dropped off my Flowmaster Super 40 today so I chopped out the old tailpipes and muffler and installed it. I ended up using a 90 degree bend and a downtube to exit out in front of the passenger tire. It sounds baddass compared to the stock muffler. I still gotta put the shorty headers on.
Call me when you get Blanco back. I'm itchin to go wheelin' Chris :rockon
BlancoBronco 12-23-2004, 02:20 AM So I guess that means no wheelin tomarrow? :(

Did you make those your self?
Dustin 12-23-2004, 09:45 AM I like the flat tops on your rock sliders! :thumbup
Did you make those your self?

Yeah, although I did have that illusion at first glance. Looks good so far. That limiting strap on your radius arm seems pretty short :shrug

I thought it looked short too, but thats not his and I guess it's different with TTB
Andy351 12-23-2004, 03:54 PM That limiting strap on your radius arm seems pretty short :shrug
law of the lever...the farther back you go on the radius arm the less it actually moves. i bet that point on the arm doesn't move as much as you think it would.
BlancoBronco 12-23-2004, 10:18 PM Yeah, although I did have that illusion at first glance.
My bad!!
your right now that I looked at it again its round :banghead
BlancoBronco 12-24-2004, 12:36 PM Ok thats not to far of a drive.
But I just woke up and called Rodd!
Its a work day for him...

BlancoBronco 12-25-2004, 02:00 AM :histerica
Its not going to well as far as the time table when it will be finished...
He is swamped with work right now!
Most of the suspension is done but............ he only has the center hoop of the roll cage in so far.. :cry
lets leave it at that!!!
he says he will have it driveable for me by new year eve so i can go wheel it. but It wont be done.
It probably wont have bumpers etc.
The master cylinder has to move as I stated before I took the pics.
The K&N air filter set up has to move a little the windshiels washer res. etc. has to move
I took a whole lot of pics but I also hung out for a few hours helping a little bit working on my Blanco.
So by the time I got back sav-on would'nt do my film. :cry
so I wont have the pics to share with you guys till sunday.
But come sunday I'll have some really cool pics to share! :rockon

I dont want him to start taking short cuts, just to get out to me faster.
I prefer to wait & not go wheeling till after the new year then to have him just rush it ..

94_chickentaco 12-26-2004, 11:38 AM hey dude.
I have been curious about those radius arm mounts using hiems.
You have no "give" or play typically associated with a rubber mount. Or, on a straight axle you have the rubber mounts on the front of the radius arms at the axle.
You have no room for any kind of dampening of horizontal movement. Im just wondering if that might lead to crap cracking or breaking prematurely.
anyone else run hiems on TTB radius arms for some feedback?
Dustin 12-26-2004, 12:54 PM hey dude.

more like you will trasmit vibrations through the frame more than anything.

they usually do.

no it dosent if its done right. Its called sleeving and is a comon practice among cage builders. looks like he plans to sleeve the bar going through the dash as well. it makes it easier to get the tubes tucked in closer to the body

Yeah thats what he told me..... :shrug
locopny 12-27-2004, 02:15 AM makes sense as the bar would be double thick in the area of the sleeve. How would that be weaker?
crawler 12-27-2004, 02:36 AM If it's sleeved inside it will be stronger. Just wondering. I usually bend a scrap piece to get the bend right then do it on the complete length of tube.
locopny 12-27-2004, 02:50 AM If it's sleeved inside it will be stronger.
Doesn't really make sense to sleeve on the outside. I find its easiest to sleeve inside with the available tube sizes. Better fit, and hides the fact its sleeved pretty well.

BlancoBronco 12-28-2004, 12:35 AM You know when I was looking at my Blanco I noticed the size of the tire in comparision to the wheel opening...
& it looks like it almost would'nt fit under the stuff mode? :shrug
I was looking at Peteygs Bronco at his house the other day 7 noticed that he hads to cut the front fenders due to tire rub.
( I think he said he bought it that way.)
But the rears I dont think were cut...
But never wheels his Bronco he just use's it for towing so i dont know if that a good comparison.
But heres a pic of what I mean...
Notice how low my hitch slider is .....It had to flip upward! Because its was mounted so low! :shocked

Heres pics of the front & rear bars dropping down thru the floor.
Yeah the front of the cage part will drop down to the rock slider, In a sence making the rock slider part of the cage
Thats ok so the cage will be welded to the slider arm..(If that rock slider ever moves I'll know it.... :shrug )
& the rear is tached to the rear springs front mount ??? :shrug
Rodd says that how he does the race trucks.. It reinforces the spring mount while providing a strong mounting point for the cage..
He says that on the race trucks those front spring mounts can rip off the frame..( I guess with all the jumps & stuff )
Hey it seemed funny to me.... But He build alot of winning race trucks , So he should know whats he's doing..

But hey it gives me time to keep thinking up new ideas for more Mods..
I just ordered a set of gauges from this guy 88pimpin was talking about.
He does custom gauges.
Nice guy! :thumbup
Hey worked with me on different ideas Via E-mails
I'd tell him what I had in mind & he would do it up & show me Before actually doing the work.
I kept changing it & he was totally cool he said he wanted to make them just the way I wanted them..
Paitient guy ( Because I can can be pretty picky :wacko )
So if you guys like the new white face gauges, This is the link to his web page.

BlancoBronco 01-13-2005, 06:37 AM He will make the gauges anyway you'd like........

I ordered mine with the Tach having orange & red instead of just red.
But hell make purple if thats what you want! :wacko

Heres another one I came up with but changed my mind for the 1st one I showed you instead

That's the direction I was pointing. :thumbup
I will take pics when I paint it this weekend. I didn't take any last 'cause the Bronco don't look to purty after a full day of wet sanding. :toothless
What I did find amuzing is that it is currently black with tan trim but it appears they painted the whole truck tan then covered most of it with black. Also, the paint on the roof is a lot thinner than the rest of the body.
Post more pics..It's up to you if it's the Bronco or more chicks. :rockon

I was wondering the same thing....how is he doing BTW?
Rodd came home on Thur. He is doing much better. He is still moving slow and will not be able to be in the shop full time for a little while yet. He is hoping to get into the shop for an hour or two a day to build his strength back up and to work on fine motor skills.
Cam if you have not talked to him yet...go ahead and call his house. He said he was going to call you the other day. If you can give him a little more time... I know he wants to finish you Bronco.

Anyways I thought i would point out to you guys that he got a couple of his trucks in the April issue of OFF ROAD magazine!
If I remember correctly its on page 57 Hes got 2 different trucks pics there .
its the article on the baja 1000 race.
The 1st truck is the Quaker state motor oil race truck & then theres a pic of his truck that he races with Jeff stowers( But they did'nt mention his name.. :banghead )
but if you look at that article you'll recognize both these 2 trucks in the forground as those same trucks ( But in the magazine they have all the body panels on)

& heres another pic of his truck

Is this Bronco (after)
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/190365/fullsize/013_11A.JPG
And the best thing you can come up is with "really happy" with the way the truck turned out???
Words like "ecstatic, completely overjoyed and Supercalofragilisticallyexpeallodotiously happy"
Dude, nice work!!!

Theres still much more to come!
Theres still exterior work to be done & a whole lot of interior stuff in the works! :chili: :chili: :chili:
BlueBronco 03-30-2005, 09:35 AM What your saying is you really painted your truck pink and don't want anyone to know that you need to change your name from Blanco to Pinco. :toothless The question is, is it pepto bismol or hot pink?

BlancoBronco 03-31-2005, 03:18 AM Thanks alot for all your kind words! :thumbup
I spend all my time thinking about my Blanco!
Thinking of the best way to have this done or that done!
I'm Probably starting to drive Rodd nuts... :wacko
But he's cool about it..
The longer he takes to finish it the more stuff I come up with that I want done to it! :histerica
Its starting to get expensive!
Oh well It will all be worth it ........
As far as exterior goes its still gotta have the fiberglass hood installed & painted .
The rear lower quarters also need painting
The bumpers and sliders are almost done.. :clap + Paint
I'm also toying with the idea of painting the rocker panels (along the bottom of the doors) to go along with the rest of the Black out treatment :shrug
I was playing around with photoshop & did these pics That I screwed up the clarity on but you get the idea..
(I have no idea what I'm doing with photoshop..I have no instruction or anything :banghead )
I also finished up the paint & skid plate..

What do you guys think? :shrug
i kinda like the way it looks?
Maybe I'll use some kinda water colors at 1st, To drive around with it like that for a couple of days & if I dont like I'll wash it off.. :wacko
I gotta get to sleep....
The interior is another story that also keeps growing.... :histerica

BlancoBronco 03-31-2005, 07:53 AM If you do the bottom, do the fiberglass top too.
 Naw!!!
I think :wacko that would be too much!
I might paint the top to match the white on the body tho... :shrug
The Von 03-31-2005, 03:05 PM yeah leave the top white...but you might consider black rims since you are getyting rid of all the other chrome...just a thought.

Yeah Thats on my list!
Either Black or White..
I wont put on that Bling Bling stuff :histerica
What I will probably end up with will be those Black Teflon coated rims.. :shrug
Bummer they dont make them in 15 inch.
I also would'nt mind the rims Pepes got ...Except for the Bling shine....( maybe powder coat them in white? :shrug )
When My Blanco gets back home I'm going to get my factory rims back from Clarko & give him these in trade...( I've never like the saw blade rims...)

MudMad 03-31-2005, 08:00 PM Truck is looking good so far. Are you going to have Rodd install a receiver and maybe some shackles in the rear bumper? As I know you and you will have to be pulled out of something sooner or later. Gotta have them tow points to hook your arse up on. Just wondering. Are you getting all giggley inside, knowing it's getting closer? I know I am and it's not even mine. I'm just happy for you. Also, you getting a winch for the front? You'll need one of those for sure.

I've been http://www.supermotors.org/getfile.php?id=188374&toggle=thumbnail thinking about some things....
Maybe you guys can help me decide........ :shrug
I'm going to run a front & rear reciver hitch set up....So I dont really think I would need the tow hooks or Shackels...
Towing from between the 2 Frame rails at the same time has to be better on the frame & overall structure of the rig..
When would I want to be towing from just one frame rail......? :shrug
Shackles would drive me nuts :wacko with all the clanging...
& To answer your queston about becoming all Giggley inside.................
OH HELL YEAH!!!!
Its all I can think about!!
& like I said I'm sure I'm starting to drive Rodd nuts!
I call him every day to talk about the way I want this done or that done!
I keep trying to make sure I have it all covered before I pick it up!
Like today I came up with another way to mount the C.B. ant.
& now we're discussing how to mount the 5 point harness...... :shrug
Do I have them bolted to the cages seat tubes?
( The seat will no longer be bolted to the floor!)
The cage will have bars running across under the seats & console as mounting points..
We all know how the Broncos Floor aint that strong.... :banghead
Or do I go with a bar going across the main hoop from right to left as a mounting point for the shoulder harness'es?
The problem with that is , It really would make getting in & out of the back seat a pain..
we discussed a swing hinged cross bar for mounts to allow easier access to the back seat ...
but then thats kind of a week point do I really want my shoulder harness'es mounted to a hinged & pinned cage tube?
& I'm having him look into this place local to him that will Bed line the floor in replacement of the factory Carpet...
He tells me they charge alot more to color match it!
But as I've stated before I have this weird thing about me......Its gotta match! :thumbup
& theres other things going on too.....
& As far as a winch?..................................http://www.supermotors.org/getfile.php?id=188374&toggle=thumbnail
The front bumper has been built with the space in mind to add one If I dicide to do that down the road..
But for now I dont plan on running one
I could always get one of those hitch mounted ones...... :shrug

plug ugly 04-03-2005, 12:11 AM Blanco,
are you serious? 12 pages of bullshit, with a little information about a bronco you are not even building? What a waste of internet space. All this SAS bashing and TTB supporting, and you are paying someone else to build your truck? (start sarcasm) You sure are a technical genius! I now value your opinion more than I ever did.(end sarcasm)
Jesus christ, after you have bashed people in the past about bad SAS's that cant flex better than TTB, blah blah blah, and you arent even building your own fawking rig? So is it safe to say that when you voiced an opinion about TTB versus SAS it was actually Rodds opinion and not your own? Do you have any wrenching experience that would cause anyone to think you actually know WTF you are talking about? or do you waste all your time picking on some lonely ass kid with nothing better to do but take bullshit from you? I dont know who to feel more sorry for.
Go to YOUR site, where you are (as you state over there) a GOD, and STFU over here. I havent seen you post anything useful since you have been here, and after spending 30 minutes trying to glean ANYTHING usefull over on YOUR site, I now realize that I have wasted part of my weekend, and feel dumber for actually having dealt with you and your inane banter.

explain how the you equate thinking someone is a jackass with being a two faced SOB.
ummmmmmmm Joe I haVe to say you are one of them
how do you consider joe two-faced? he has just as much of a right to disagree and not like a member as much as you do. more so even since last i checked, you are not an admin, or even a mod for that matter.
Take me off this website because I do not want to belong to something like this.
do us a favor and take yourself off the site. i personally do not want to belong to a bunch of "inane banter" which is why i stay away from thewebwheeler.com
You in the last two months Dale and I have spent money to get a lift to someone that doesn't live in Ga that to me is a great site.........
i think you said you bought a lift for someone not from GA, but this is relevant because?
****idowning people is a dufferent thing......
this is hardly the first time this has happened on this site, nor will it be the last. i myself have had friends get burned at the stake, but oh well thats life, its just the ****ing internet.
I guess probabkly nobody really doesn't care but I won't be back. LMFAO this is Bullshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i still don't get what you're so upset about. was it just too much so co tonite?
79F150 and I plan a lot of the M&G
good for you. so you got a bunch of locals together at a burger joint, big deal, we do those here on the west coast too.
well I am sorry don't ever consider me go ahead and asj Mel because you all know that you have taken up for her in ohter places hmmmmmm two faces sobs GOODBYE ALL
what exactly is it that makes us two faced again, and wtf does mel have to do with this? because we dislike (i say we because i have made abrasive and even derogatory remarks to cam before and assume i am thus included in your rant) one member we are two faced sobs? since i dislike at least 25 members does that make me at least 26 faced?
Dixie Doll 04-03-2005, 12:54 PM Sorry if I didn't make sense last night. I was emotional because of something someone said. I was a little emotional and probably had too much to drink. I made some stupid statements.
blueoval78 04-03-2005, 01:11 PM oh the drama.............

if I understand the small ( and granted, poorly spelled and gramatically incorrect) snipits from Andys post, i thought you said you werent coming back? :cry
Why is it OK for two members here to constantly berate another member, up to and including insulting him and his family, BUT if I or anyone attack one of YOUR friends, we are two faced, SOBs, etc etc. Sounds like more typical BS from THAT side of the fence.
IF you guys dont like it, please, do us all a favor, and go whine about shit over on the other website. You can slam Joe, the moderators, me, andy, and anyone you want. Hell, we wont even be there to call you out. Must be like heaven to you guys :madder

After talking to Dale (79F150) on the phone...they're both upset that they tried to leave the kid alone, the kid comes over to WebWheeler when he KNOWS Cam doesn't like him and THEN Joe quotes Cam and brings it here and brought up Dale's name when Dale hadn't done anything - on WebWheeler. If ya'll hate Cam so much, why is anyone reading what he says over there anyhow?
Its all a little retarded if you ask me. [And I managed to stay outta the trouble this time. :toothless]
plug ugly 04-03-2005, 02:58 PM personally, i went over there to see what it was all about. I had seen it mentioned here several times, and Im always looking for more useful websites. What i found over there was nothing useful, and several comments about us (as moderators) and how we are unfair. i dont give a rip about them or the kid, I just want it to stop.
My participation in this thread was to purely point out that a staunch TTB supporter and anti-SAS member cant even do his own fawking work on his rig which he states is better than anyone who has done an SAS. ANYONE can pay someone else to do work on their rig, and sure it will come out great, but tip your hat to the guys trying to do it themselves.
Then, we get attacked again, and called 2 faced SOBs, etc. Then, THE guy who developed this site (NOT to give people a place to whine and bitch about him), is personally insulted, and thats when it becomes too much. I wish HE would play GOD around here (like blanco claims to be over there), and get rid of some people on HIS site. Turn around is fair play, right?

You're right...anyone can pay to have work done on their rig. I believe some people here have done it before...for an SAS, too. Some people simply aren't mechanically inclined nor do they have the space/tools to do it themselves. Now I agree that doesn't give him the right to go bashing anyone with an SAS, but I've seen a few of you Solid Axle groupies bash the hell out of people who choose to run the TTB.

Well, she did apologize. You men wouldn't understand crazy women-emotions. ;) There have been other issues in the past that have upset Tammie, and it came out last night.
I still don't understand why Cam's posts to the kid were brought over here to begin with. :shrug
I am in no way sticking up for Cam either, I still think he's a spaz. :toothless

I invite you to find one fawking post I have posted that was negetive about FSB and FSB MODS as well as any member!!!
I have had a differance with only one mod and 95% of the time we have worked it out.
As far as tech stuff on the site is only 2 months old what exzactly do you expect to see in two months????
For the 2 faced statement we thought it was dirty that this has even been brought here in the first place even on twisted wheelers Joe signed in and delt with it there and didn't drag all this sh!t out in to the public here!!! |
