I got this e-mail from Superford.........
REGISTRY UPGRADE ON SATURDAY, JUNE 21 RESULTING IN SITE DOWNTIME
On Saturday, June 21 2003 at approximately 10:00 PM, we will be
performing a major upgrade to the registry software that improves usability,
speed, as well as adds new features. There will be several hours of
downtime associated with this upgrade. The site will be back online and
fully operational on Sunday morning.
PLEASE REMOVE ALL BUT 5 PERSONAL PHOTOS
After the new registry launch on Saturday, we will begin enforcing a
new policy restricting users to 5 personal photos per user account.
Personal photos can be located all in one registry entry or spread across
multiple registry entries, but the total amount of personal photos from
all registry entries must not exceed 5 photos.
WHY THE CHANGE IN POLICY?
Up until now we have been fairly lax with our policy and really only
cracked down on pornographic photos or photos in bad taste. Due to
increased bandwidth costs and diminishing hard drive space on the
SuperFord.org server, we are forced to implement this new policy so that we can
get back to our core focus of providing free picture hosting for
automotive-related photos.
WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOS ARE CONSIDERED "PERSONAL"?
Family photos, jokes, vacation photos, your best friend's new tattoo,
etc.
WHAT TYPES OF PHOTOS ARE STILL ALLOWED?
You will be allowed 5 personal photos (as long as they are in good
taste and are not pornographic). We will still allow certain types of
photos to be posted even if a vehicle is not in the shot such as: car club
gatherings, event photos, cruising photos, camp-site photos during an
event visit, garage photos, engine blueprints, automotive
advertisements, etc.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I POST MORE THAN 5 PERSONAL PHOTOS?
All but 5 of your personal photos will be deleted without warning.
WILL THERE BE A LIMIT ON MY VEHICLE PHOTOS?
No. Please continue to post as many vehicle-related photos as you
like.
WHAT ABOUT SOUNDS AND VIDEOS?
The same 5-personal limit applies.
5 PHOTOS IS NOT ENOUGH, CAN I STORE MORE?
Eventually. We will be building a feature available to subscribing
members that will allow them to store up to 5 MB worth of photos and
purchase additional storage space for a one-time fee. This feature is still
not implemented so we must begin by enforcing a limit of 5 personal
photos site-wide regardless of your membership status.
WILL SUPERFORD.ORG BECOME A REGISTRY NAZI?
It is not our intention to have to watch over every single entry night
and day. We do expect common sense to be used throughout the posting
of media files in the SuperFord.org registry. No other automotive site
provides free service of this caliber, so please respect the ground
rules and enjoy the new improvements coming this weekend!
