Accessory Man 06-23-2003, 08:19 PM Sounds good, never heard of Ruash Creek, seems closer to Phila then Paragon, am I right?
kht428 06-23-2003, 08:32 PM I believe that the two parks are only about a half hour away from each other.?
reptillikus 06-23-2003, 10:43 PM I heard Rausch is abotu 40m south of Paragon. Its still pretty new, they dont even allow anyone to raom yet like Paragon does, but from what i hear, its promising. Most of the trails were blazed by people who blazed trails for paragon 'back in the day'.
Ive actually read about this on 3 forums now.....so i guess i should go, huh?
kht428 06-23-2003, 10:53 PM Paragon lets you roam? Rausch is like paragon you need minimum 3 vehicles 25 per vehicle 5 per passenger unlike paragon only 1000 acres compared to 15000.
drexelsteve 06-24-2003, 09:40 PM looks promising
Leonard 06-24-2003, 11:09 PM sounds good have to check it out
gators0204 06-25-2003, 11:01 PM looks like maybe another wheelin trip.
Accessory Man 06-25-2003, 11:24 PM I want to see if they have any printed materail on it this weekend and see if I can get some of my customers from the store to join us. I already got a cuople of chevys willing to go that work for the campany, but who wants to spend the day towing chevys?
:D
reptillikus 06-26-2003, 06:23 PM kth428, what i meant is that unless they just changed it, they didnt allow just anyone to come to the park to 'wheel. It had to be a club (or charity in this case) event, or something scheduled way in advance.
I could probably get a bunch of guys from my local 4x4 shop (and maybe some of their customers) to go too. This could become a really big ride!
kht428 07-01-2003, 01:16 AM Im still waiting on more info I found out this weekend that the people organizing the ride have been away since last week but should be home soon so hopefully another week to get info on cost total number of trucks allowed(so far limit is 150) after first time at paragon this should be a good time for a good cause.
kht428 07-03-2003, 12:10 AM It appears that there is not a fee to go on this ride you pay the entrance fees to the parks and they donate a portion back to the charity. You can make further donations at your discretion (and based on how much you break and need to repair:D ) So far only one other bronco other than mine registered to go there are only 150 spots still they have not decided to enlarge it yet but so far only 24 signed up still plenty of room open to all rigs regardless of make model.
Leonard 07-04-2003, 12:04 AM planning to go so i signed up to reserve a spot.
drexelsteve 07-05-2003, 01:23 PM alright, i'm in:thumbup
drexelsteve 07-17-2003, 01:42 PM how did this post get moved to the dixie chapter?
Accessory Man 07-17-2003, 03:20 PM Maybe you were whistling dixie?:shrug
jermil01 07-17-2003, 03:32 PM I think its up as a sticky in all the Chapter forums.
Leonard 07-17-2003, 07:58 PM so whose all definatley going to this shindig. ya'll wanna met up and ride up again??
reptillikus 07-17-2003, 11:36 PM I would like to go, but time will tell. Ill know in another week or so.
drexelsteve 07-18-2003, 12:52 AM yeah, i'm down:thumbup
drexelsteve 07-18-2003, 01:01 AM am i the only one gettin spam from the ucp trailride update email? i replied to it sayin i was in and i've gotten like a dozen reply's from everyone on the mailing list.
Leonard 07-18-2003, 05:25 PM i've been getting them to about 10 or 12 now. you probably got mine.
drexelsteve 07-18-2003, 06:08 PM got a whole bunch but i didn't get yours:shrug
reptillikus 07-20-2003, 11:24 PM Well, im gonna see tomorrow if i can get off to go on this ride. We'll see.
Where is everyone staying fri/sat nights?
drexelsteve 07-21-2003, 12:45 AM probably red ridge friday night, not sure what'd be better stayin there sat night n makin the drive early sunday or findin a place near rausch. hey rep, u live right down from the dragstrip? was at a vw show today n i swore i saw your rig next to a red car in a driveway. hood was up too:histerica
Leonard 07-21-2003, 01:36 AM red ridge sounds like a good place for both nights actually. if i remember right rausch is only like a 30 min drive or so.
drexelsteve 07-21-2003, 02:00 PM sounds good to me. so are we gonna meet at ikea again? oh yeah, make sure your headlights are workin this time alright:histerica
Leonard 07-21-2003, 06:34 PM hahaha very funny, actually i don't know what happened with them. after i got home i went out that night and they worked fine:shrug . sure the ikea sounds like a plan to me.
P.S. go fix your tail light or something.

hey now!
Yeah, that was my truck! I blew out part of the timing cover gasket earlier in the week, so i had to rip it all apart and fix it. The front of my engine sparkles now!
Im gonna have to look up Raush Creek later and see if theres someplace near it, or someplace in the middle of both. If i find anything good ill let ya'll know
reptillikus 07-29-2003, 10:14 PM Ok, Rausch Creek is Exit 107. There is about 35 miles of highway between the two parks. And the camping at Rausch Creek is...primitive, to say the least. Sooo, theres a couple options.
#1. Hotel it. I have no idea what hotels are close to it, though.
#2 Echo Valley. (Exit 104) I have never been here before, but i know someone who has, and this is what they had to say: "The campground has a lot of families and kids staying in seasonal sites, so driving above the posted speed limits is not tolerated. The showers were hot. The campground is located along the main road, but at night the traffic quiets down. To get to Echo from RC's main entrance/staging area is simple, drive down to the bottom of the mountain, make a left at 125 (at the Exxon/Ravine exit) and you're there. It takes less than 10 minutes to get there. "
#3. Twin Grove Campground (Exit 100) This is a new park, so there is not much info available. If i find out anything, ill post it here.
SO....heres what im probably going to do. I will most likely spend friday night at the Forrest Hill in, which is an exit away from Paragon. Wheel @ Paragon all day on Sat., and then travel to Echo Valley where ill spend the night, and the wheel at RC all sunday
drexelsteve 07-29-2003, 10:29 PM cool. gotta se what everyone els's doin. what're the rates at the forest hill in?
bnkrtstk 07-29-2003, 10:42 PM I'm in, I am staying at the Ramada in Hazleton both nights, definitley doing Paragon on saturday, Sunday is up in the air.
But the local RV place is running a sale this weekend so if I find one that passes spousal inspection I'm "camping"
reptillikus 07-30-2003, 07:13 PM If you tell Forrest Hill youll be at Paragon, its $40/night. Tell em theres only 1 person sleeping there, and dont have anyone else come into the office with you when you check in/out, or they might charge ya more.:shrug
Oh, and they have cable and a hot shower. What more could you ask for?:thumbup
bnkrtstk 07-30-2003, 09:29 PM Originally posted by reptillikus

Thanks I'll look into it, I'llhave to tell them how many people, my kids are too noisey to hide, besides whenever I try to bend the rules, I end up bent over.:banghead
reptillikus 07-30-2003, 11:09 PM Ha!
I dunno, ive only been there twice. Both times reserved for 1 person, and ended up bringing a passenger. Never thought to mention it, and they never said anything about additional charges for extra people.:shrug
Leonard 07-31-2003, 01:01 AM sounds like a plan is coming togather. as far as staying goes personally i really don't care as long as its close and cheap, would prefer camping, nothing like hanging around a fire with a beer and good people.
BTW reptilikus is that ext 107 off of 81?
drexelsteve 07-31-2003, 01:14 AM well how far is paragon from raush creek? would it be dooable to stay at red ridge both nights? Still dont' know what time the ride's are at. I'm just wonderin if we'd have time to get up, pack up camp, air up and head to raush creek sunday mornin. Maybe it would be best to stay near raush saturday ningt. Whatdya think?
Leonard 07-31-2003, 01:24 AM the times don't look that bad they want everyone to be at the park by 8:30 on sat, and 9:00 on sun. i would prefer to find on place to stay just don't like setting up camp, breaking down, setting up again just to break down again.
bnkrtstk 07-31-2003, 05:02 PM Just called Forest Inn they are booked. I'll stick with the Ramitinya(Ramada) $74/night.
drexelsteve 07-31-2003, 07:02 PM alright, so we're doin red ridge then? figure we'll have to be out of there by 7:30 am sunday mornin if we're gonna make it to raush by 9. Thatll give us time to get some grub, air up, etc. so who's in?
reptillikus 07-31-2003, 08:14 PM If theyre booked, then Red Ridge it is!
Ive been told that its about 40 minutes from park to park, which really isnt that bad. I have no problem spending both nights at Red Ridge.....and that would even be more incentive to remove the hard top for saturday's run:cool:
Steve, that sounds like a good plan to me!
Leonard 07-31-2003, 08:28 PM alright sounds like steve's our plan man, BTW my trucks probably gonna about 3 different colors by then. gonna start putting bushwackers on this weekend then herculining the exterior. topless sounds good.
Accessory Man 07-31-2003, 10:58 PM Topless sounds Great, is Steve bringing his girlfriend again?? Maybe I will be up then....................
:histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica
drexelsteve 08-01-2003, 01:21 AM (mister burns) Excelent... Topless sounds good, but i think they won't let u run without a cage/rollbar. I could be wrong though. yeah dude she's comin, are u? if ya don't wanna run your rig u can ride gun with somebody. hu huh huh he said bushwacker. so your gonna herc. the exterior? doin the interior too? Thats on my list of things to do. THis weekend i'm gonna clean n pack my hubs, make sure my bearings aren't toast, change the oil, tranny fluid (b&m trick shift, hope it's worth it!!!), air cleaner, and do somethin with the drums(i think the adjusters are wasted). Lots of work to do:rockon So we're on for red ridge?
Accessory Man 08-01-2003, 01:41 AM I doubt I will go Steve but ya never know.
As for the Herculiner, maybe he is gonna do the headlights so they will be just as bright as last time.......
:lolup
Man I am silly tonight
Leonard 08-01-2003, 06:17 PM yuk yuk yuk laugh it up, yeah gonna herc the outside i did the rear inside last year but gotta redo it hauling an engine around that wasn't tied down right tore it up still gotta do the front. red ridge sounds like the plan to me. meet at ikea what around 7 or so.
come on matt come along maybe ya can back into a rock or something and bend that bumper back in or pull the other side out to match. :toothless
Accessory Man 08-01-2003, 06:22 PM You know if i fix the bumper I wont be as motavited to have a new one made up
reptillikus 08-01-2003, 09:10 PM hahaha, precisely why i dont fix mine! If it gets bent wayy up, then i jump on it a couple times to kinda straighten out. Hopefully ill have it done b4 this ride, but we'll see.
What time are you guys plannin on arriving at Red Ridge? It would waste time for me to meet you guys and travel up together, so i figure ill hook up when i get there
drexelsteve 08-01-2003, 11:35 PM we left last time around 8, got there what...bout 2 or 3:histerica we got lost like 5 times. figure if we meet friday night bout 7 or so we could be at red ridge around 10-11 somethin like that. figure no one will be there at the front desk so we'll just set up camp like last time. anybody remember the site number we were at? i kindal iked that location. anyway, started tearin apart the truck today. Pulled the front hubs n they were FILLED with water:banghead. least there was no sand in em. oh and apparently i blew a seal in the rear. Other than that things look good.
Accessory Man 08-01-2003, 11:39 PM Originally posted by drexelsteve

And wipe yer chin
:histerica
reptillikus 08-02-2003, 12:26 AM Did you guys register a site ahead of time, or, should i say.... are you planning to? Ive never been to Red Ridge before, so i have no idea how they are set up.
Ill probably be on the road by 6-7pm, so i *should* be there no later than 10. Hmm, should be fun setting up a tent in the dark
drexelsteve 08-02-2003, 12:42 AM no need to register ahead of time. We got there friday night at like 2am and didn't register till after paragon the next day!!!
Leonard 08-02-2003, 01:29 AM yeah the people there are pretty cool they go by the honor system basically. and i kinda remember where the site we had was, as long as we don't get lost again if we get on the road by 7 we should be there by 1030 or so. as long as all lights are working properly.
reptillikus 08-03-2003, 03:57 AM
I *may* have to back out of the trip. I screwed up my detroit earlier this evening, but im not sure what i did yet, as i just got home. Hopefully its something stupid and ill be back on my way in a day or two, but im just not sure yet.
Leonard 08-03-2003, 10:06 PM dude that sucks hopefully you can get things back togather, i'm guessing that when a detroit blows it doesn't just become an open carrier then huh.
reptillikus 08-03-2003, 10:54 PM it depends.
Its technically still working. It locks and unlocks. It also clacks when im in reverse or coasting, except it does it so loud you can hear it 3 cars away:eek: I think i broke a spring in one of the clutches. Im headed over to my local 4x4 shop tomorrow after work to see what they can do.
Leonard 08-03-2003, 10:59 PM just turn the radio up. nah hope ya get it going from what everyone was saying you got on hell of a rig and i'd definatly like to check it out.
drexelsteve 08-04-2003, 01:50 AM that sucks dude, hope u can get it together. I got htis axel seal leakin like a mo fo so i 've gotta figure somethin out with it. Hopefully i'll have it fixxed by friday, otherwise i'll have to kick my own azz.:twak It pisses me off, its always this last minute #(%*@:banghead that fawks me up.
drexelsteve 08-05-2003, 01:11 AM well i'm gonna pull the shaft tomorrow at work. I got my fingers crossed but i figure it'll be an in n out job. so we're all set then? We'll meed at ikea for the trip up there round 7 ish. Everybody who's goin let me know, and pm your cell #s' so just in case. I lost everybody's:cry So its me, gators, leonard, rep(maybe:shrug ), pretty sure bnkrtstk's in. Kht428?accessory man? Is vince comin? who's bringin :beer
bnkrtstk 08-05-2003, 09:12 AM I'm in, staying at the Ramada in Hazleton, maybe we can chill at the pool after wheeling, wifey won't camp. Probably taking Friday off to get an early start.
Accessory Man 08-05-2003, 11:58 AM Sorry Steve, not me, not this time. Looks like I am driving to Long Island to get my lift kit for even less money then I had thought (fingers crossed)
reptillikus 08-05-2003, 08:10 PM Steve, ill PM ya my work cell #, as thats the only cellphone i have. Send me yours so i can get in touch when im in the area. I dont think ill be meeting up with you guys on the ride up unless we meet somewhere along the way. It would waste time for me to head down to Philly.
...And so far no word on the detroit. I am going to try my hardest to go on this ride though, so unless i post here saying im not going, i am! :D
Leonard 08-05-2003, 08:36 PM hope ya make it rep, if you take the NE extension we could meet at the allentown rest stop, maybe the hickory run stop though i forget if we go that far up.
drexelsteve 08-06-2003, 01:25 AM cool. I pulled that shaft today so i should have it all back together tomorrow:rockon Looks like it's gonna be a pretty wet weekend. can't wait.
reptillikus 08-07-2003, 06:19 PM Talk about down to the wire!
Its not looking good guys. I dont have the truck back yet, and they definitely need it tomorrow during the day to do a much more in-depth examination. Steve, i have your #, so ill call you if im gonna be able to go, but as of right now it looks like im not going to be able to:cry
drexelsteve 08-08-2003, 01:41 PM :banghead that sucks!!! Well gimme a call if anything comes up. Got my truck up n runnin so things are lookin good at this end. I'll be at ikea around 6-7, depending on when i get out of work. GOt dogs n burgers, beer, snacks etc. Haven't heard from gators in a while.....come to think of it, haven't heard from Kht428 in a really long time:shrug Hope he's ok, i remember his wife was sick. I've got his # so i'll call him after work n see what's up. So it looks like the only definites are me, leonard, n bnkstk. Dang. See yall tonight. my cell 610-368-3880
Leonard 08-08-2003, 05:56 PM well i'm out of it for saterday but i'll be there on sunday. went to ozzfest yesterday and f'cked up my ribs in the pits not sure yet if their broken, cracked or just heavily bruised, so i'm gonna give 'em another day to rest. but i will definatly be there sunday. knock on wood.
Accessory Man 08-09-2003, 12:08 AM Look at it this way, you're still in better shape then Ozzy is
Leonard 08-09-2003, 01:22 AM thats true but ya gotta give it to the guy being that f'cked up and still rocking:rockon :beer
gators0204 08-11-2003, 11:32 AM So how was it? I was so fawking pissed, i didnt wake up till 930ish. I was all set and ready to go. So, any carnage pics?
reptillikus 08-11-2003, 01:49 PM Yeah guys, how was the ride? What is Rausch Creek like? I really wanted to go, i shouldve just went with you guys anyway
:twak <-me
(...oh, and they couldnt find anything wrong with my detroit, and its not making any sounds now:shrug)
bnkrtstk 08-11-2003, 02:06 PM Except for my alternator pulley splitting in two pieces, gas tank strap bolt breaking, rear bumper ripping, windshield breaking, and water pump start leaking. It was a blast. That was just Paragon, I didn't want to temp fate and do Rausch Creek.
Keith thanks again for having that pulley in your toolbox. I'll get some pics up once I get them back.
reptillikus 08-11-2003, 03:13 PM Originally posted by bnkrtstk

Ummm......holy crap?!!!!!  :crazy
Kallure 08-11-2003, 03:31 PM I posted the first set of pictures down in the Gen Chit Chat section. I have nothing else better to do today but work so ah well. None of the carnage but a lot of the mud.
Trust me, the stories have only just begun .... ;)
this is Steve's girlfriend btw ... didn't want to confuse anyone
bnkrtstk 08-11-2003, 04:50 PM How was Rausch Creek? My alternator belt broke 3/4 of the way home, but the Bronco made it home under its own power.
Kallure 08-11-2003, 04:58 PM Rausch Creek was an adventure in itself ...
The trails were nice - slippery 'cause of the rain, mostly forest trails and winding through mud puddles and stuff. A lot of uphill downhill and not too many rocks. Our group was too big though ... thirteen rigs, a few bone stockers, trying to navigate through winding trails with gooey mud was not fun. Especially when every other hundred yards or so people were getting stuck and we were ended up waiting about ten minutes while they got out.
No major damage that I know of yet, though Steve spoke of a death rattle on the way home last night. Don't quite know how that situation played out ....
That's my opinion - I prefer Paragon simply because we've had a better experience there. I would like to try Rausch Creek again with a smaller group and navigating it ourselves.
That sucks about the belt though very cool that you made it home .... how's it smell though??? :histerica
bnkrtstk 08-11-2003, 05:17 PM Glad to hear there was no more carbage. I like the sound of windy trails with mud holes. We'll just have to do that smaller group thing.....don't go there I know what you're thinking.
It doesn't smell that bad, I cleared everything out of it and left the windows open last night.

I'm not b----ing about it. I don't have to drive it to work, and I was a mechanic I have the ultimate set of tools. I can fix it. :rockon
reptillikus 08-11-2003, 05:27 PM Na man, i didnt think you were...but thats alot of damage for one day:eek: I cant even begin to wonder how all that hapened
And Rausch Creek sounds like a cool place....dammit dammit dammit i wish i couldve gone:banghead

Rocks, rocks, and more rocks. Except for the windshield, my wife did that with the seat, and I broke the fan shroud leaning on it
Yeah me too. Oh well next time.
Leonard 08-11-2003, 07:57 PM like said rausch sucked mainly cause of the large group and people in completely stock vechiles with street tires(damn jeeps) having to stop every 100 yds or so for 15-20 mins makes for a long and aggravating day, but other then that the goo was pretty good. wish i could of gotten some decent pics.
kht428 08-11-2003, 09:05 PM Who said there was no more carnage?! Lets see passenger side door passenger side c-pillar what else oh yeah drivers side radius arm bent like a pretzel. and thats just my truck wait till steve writes his list and the list for the new friend he made in the jeepgrand. Oh yeah the strories have just begun.
Leonard 08-11-2003, 09:21 PM still find it funny i escaped body damage and the flares are still there
bnkrtstk 08-11-2003, 11:19 PM Originally posted by kht428

That sucks Keith, hey your pulley stayed intact at least. If you don't have access to air tools, I'd be happy to fire up the compressor here for you.
Steve, did you kiss a Grand Jerkoree?
Kallure 08-12-2003, 12:05 AM He did way more than kiss the Grand .............
gators0204 08-12-2003, 12:14 PM what happened with steve and the grand?
:banghead :banghead now I really wish i woke up on time

Is that the Heep that got stuck on the rocks at Paragon?
Hey Matt, who in the other group broke?
JeepsRule 08-15-2003, 12:36 PM I got stuck on one rock and now everyone needs to give me a hard time about it :) The guy we our trail leader, I forget his name but he sheared two pins or something like that off his suspension and his axles moved back about six inches, I have a picture of them trying to pull it back into place
