I've been looking at a 78' Bronco but I'm not sure I would get my moneys worth. It has a 351M that was rebuilt back in 98' that has some minor oil leaks and from my experiance test driving it stalls alot due to a clogged fuel filter(guy told me it sat for 4 years and has alot of crap in the tank). It needs a new master cylinder, front drive shaft, and U-joints. None of the electrical works and it had no rear brakes when I returned it to him because of a really bad break in the line. The rear end likes to hop because he told me he put more clutch packs in the rear but according to him it will smooth out after it's been driven for awhile(I have no clue about this because I've never had 4x4, he told me it's suposed to act like a positrac :shrug ) The tranny and transfer case have no issues and the exterior is awesome, new black paint with gold flake mixed in to give it sort of a golden sparkle in the sun, but the interior not so great. It has no carpet, some of the trim on the dash is broke, and the drivers side of the seat is ripped to shit. He's asking 4500 Can. but said he would sell for 4000, he told me someone offered him 3500 and he rejected it. Would this truck be worth it or should I find another one for cheaper. Thanks for any feedback

$4000 sounds a way too steep for a basket case like that. :wacko I'd offer him $400

No electrical, no rear brakes, bad u-joints, bad master cylinder, and what sounds like a welded rear end. Look elsewhere, or offer $1500 take it or leave it.

Entirely too much money for it. Is there any lift or nice tires on it? For that price the gold flakes better be real 24K. I'd also say 1500, 2000 tops. Guess it all really depends on if you're willing to spend that much. I've always believed in it's what you want, not what it costs.

I paid $1200 Canuck bucks for my 78 and it's got a rebuilt engine, 4" lift, 2 sets of 33's on rims, headers, intake cam etc
But my body is a bit rusted as are the floorboards. Since then I've replaced both driveshafts, an alternator and the gas tank. I'd say that for $4k it better be pretty minty outside and in good running condition

Just by the sounds of it $4k is way tooo much for it i'd offer him $500.00 but thats just my .02. considering how i bought my 1991 ford bronco for $400.00 and all it neede was a new fuel pump!

A 78 was sold in 77 making it 28 model years old

That and all the list of things that are wrong with it should drop his price into the basement.

Tell him he really dropped the ball turning down $3500, as you walk away from the deal.

I bought a near mint 86 Eddie Bauer, from the original owner's brother when it was 12 years old for $4000. This guy's dreaming in technicolour !
