2004 started off bad for my Bko. Very draining on my $$ supply. First I had an $800 parts/labor brake job, then the powersteering motor got fried, then the driveshaft snapped off, and to top it off I had to have my E4OD and t-case rebuilt. This all in like the first two months of the year. :banghead

But here's the icing on the cake, a month later I rear ended a fullsize van.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/180007/fullsize/33104_6.JPG

Took a month and a half to get my insurance to pay for the damages. Then another month in the shop before I got to drive my baby again.

It's raining like a mofo over here. I'll go see if I can find some mud tomorrow. :thumbup

Here she is as I bought her a little under a year ago. Well, almost. I did add the nerf bars but didn't have a pic of it before that. I can't get over how small it looks compared to how it looks now.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202310/fullsize/DSCN1505.JPG

4" lift and shiny new 33's later, ready to go wheelin at Uwharrie. Notice I'm still the smallest rig here.:duh
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/186810/fullsize/DSCN1553.JPG

About to take the cable for the first time, also the last pic ever taken of my Bronco in an undamaged state. I really don't like this pic because it doesn't look like I'm really stuck on anything, but that hill is damn steep. After I rode the cable up SouthernComfort snapped his stub shaft trying to get over the same spot. By the way, this is the Daniel bypass.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202313/fullsize/About%20to%20take%20the%20cable.JPG

My first serious body damage. Tried to turn over on my side, but a trench wall caught me. :cry Still not fixed.

Add 1 donor rig to the recipe.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/133243/fullsize/PDC_0255.jpg

Pull out the good stuff.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/138915/fullsize/PDC_0292.jpg

Add 1 1988 Ford Bronco to the mix.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/145100/fullsize/PDC_0341.jpg

Then gut the remove entire front suspension.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/150277/fullsize/PDC_0387.jpg

Give it a good ole...
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/150284/fullsize/PDC_0392.jpg

The next step is optional but I would highly suggest doing it. Clean, rebuild and paint the new suspension pieces. The rust gods will hate you for it but :goodfinge them.

( This is not me )
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153686/fullsize/PDC_0430.jpg
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153688/fullsize/PDC_0432.jpg

Add some Cage radius arms.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/146756/fullsize/PDC_0342.jpg
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153683/fullsize/PDC_0427.jpg

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/151727/fullsize/PDC_0410.jpg
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/151729/fullsize/PDC_0408.jpg

Next put new/old stuff under the Bronco.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153689/fullsize/PDC_0433.jpg http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153691/fullsize/PDC_0435.jpg

Pause for a moment and have another beer with your buddy from Georgia.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153697/fullsize/PDC_0442.jpg

Continue on.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/153699/fullsize/PDC_0444.jpg

Here are some pics from my regearing.

The Bronco looks so sad missing it's tires. And an axle.

Here's the 8.8, prepped for invasive surgery.

Eaton E-locker, tasty.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/186778/fullsize/P1010344.JPG

My first gear job ever, and self-taught. Here's the E-Locker, sans cross shaft, wearing it's new 4.56's. Sweet.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/199632/fullsize/DSCN1936.JPG

Finished the 8.8 off with a nice new diff cover with carrier bearing cap supports and a drain plug. Unfortunately I picked up some minor rock rash on it the first time I took it out. I need to fab up a rock ring to protect it. .

Thought I'd get some interior stuff. Here's the new gauge faces I made. It looks hard to see the numbers in the picture, but in person they're pretty clear.

Here's some pics of the system I installed last summer. Took me like 6 hours including drilling, cutting/stripping/crimping wires, and basically getting everything set up the way I want it. I love music so I gotta have a loud ass system. It's gotten me a $145 ticket from an unfriendly officer, but eh. Still gotta love being able to shake the block. :toothless

(BTW, I know under my avatar it says I love country music, but it's not true I tell ya! Why would I spend so much on a system to listen to country music? lol No offense to all you sh*tkickers out there. :toothless)

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202838/fullsize/newsetup.JPG

Wired with 4G Rockford Fosgate & Stinger p&g wires, 8G Monster p&g wires, Rockford Fosgate 2-channel RCAs, Monster RCAs.

Here we have the Rockford Fosgate 12" Power HX2s. 1000W RMS, 2000W Peak. Each of these suckers weigh over 40lbs! The only way to listen to ROCK music.......in a sealed box (built to specs by a local shop).

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147148/fullsize/newamp.JPG

Oooh! Lights up! lol

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147149/fullsize/lightup.JPG

The 1501bd came with the remote bass to give it some extra punch. I used to have it on my center console but now (as seen in my previous post) I moved it up onto my dash next to my OD switch.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147153/fullsize/remotebass.JPG

My Alpine 5-channel MRVF-357. I think it's about 125W.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147152/fullsize/alpineamp.JPG

Helping to power everything is an Optima Yellow Top connected parallel with the one under the hood. Never got an isolator so I can listen to my system with the truck off, but maybe one day I will. Not that important to me right now.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147154/fullsize/optimaback.JPG

I love the battery terminals. They look pretty sweet. They adjust to either 8G or 4G.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147156/fullsize/negterminal.JPG

MB Quart DKD157 5X7s in the rear. I have the DKD116 6.5s in the front but no pics of them. Sorry. I just hate taking off the door panels. :brownbag

The old Sony CDX unit I used to have in my truck.

http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/147159/fullsize/Sony.JPG

The new Panasonic CQ-C8300U that I now have. Was my brother's. He only used it for like 2 months and then he gave it to me for Xmas 'cause he left for the Army. He figured he wasn't going to be around to use it anyways so he gave it to me. I love him! lol

Very badass. It's got Full Dot Digital Matrix display which is customizable, 5 sets of pre-outs (sub, front speakers, rear speakers, cd-changer, and AUX), adjustable LPF and HPF, adjustable SQ levels, adjustable bass and treble, adjustable subwoofer volume level, 5V, 50WX4, MP3/WMA, and don’t forget the little remote.

Painting the interior + having a system makes it a mall cruiser? I don't even go to the mall. lol :toothless The system comes out when I go wheeling anyways.

It's my DD and only car so I just want it to look nice. I'm a little tight on money so breaking a bunch of stuff on the trails would be a bad idea. Just curious. I was under the impression that the fuel sump should be low at the back to catch the fuel as you're accelerating. How well does yours work?
Nice Bronco by the way! :thumbup

freak
05-09-2005, 01:20 PM
You can put it in either spot, you just need the pump as clost to the sump outlet as possible.I had this tank in my old bronco at Silver lake MI when climbing the dunes. With a 1/4 tank of gas I had no problem's of fuel starvation. The tank was cut so under acceleration the fuel wouldn't come out of the sump area. With the sump facing the other way if I got rear ended(especially with today's car's) the sump would be the first thing to get hit,so it's safer facing the other direction.

Hope you guys like regearing pics, that's about all I've been working on lately.

Freshly removed D44 third member. 160,000 miles on these stock gears, time to retire them.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202563/fullsize/DSCN1824.JPG

Old empty case, new case with old spiders in it.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202566/fullsize/DSCN1892.JPG

Or on second thought...
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202570/fullsize/DSCN1895.JPG

Let's not use those old spiders after all. Here's the Aussie locker disasembled. Pretty simple.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202574/fullsize/DSCN1897.JPG

Sorry for the blurry pic. Aussie locker assembled, not much more than a handfull.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202581/fullsize/DSCN1898.JPG

New carrier, with new locker and new 4.56 ring gear installed.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202585/fullsize/DSCN1904.JPG

Third member safe and sound back in it's TTB home.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/202591/fullsize/DSCN1910.JPG

And if you're going to go to all the trouble to tear into your front diff, for god's sake replace the D44 stub shaft with a D50. The casting on the D50 yoke is over a quarter inch thicker than the D44. Beefy.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/197942/fullsize/DSCN1844.JPG

Just don't do what I did and drop it on the shop floor. :brownbag
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/197955/fullsize/DSCN1925.JPG

Easily fixed though. Nothing a careful beating can't fix.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/198235/fullsize/DSCN1934.JPG

You've gotta grind off a litle bit of the TTB arm to let the bigger D50 yoke fit. No problem.
http://www.supermotors.org/getfile/197956/fullsize/DSCN1920.JPG

And would you believe that after all that I still don't have a pic with the whole thing reassembled? Oh well. I'm breaking in the gears now, should be ready for wheelin very soon. :thumbup

Yeah they are sweet Dave, got them from JBG well got them from Ironclad as a present but they were from there. They say they are not for the EFI but as for the 351 i only had to extend the oil fill. If using them on the 302 you will have to use a upper spacer so they would clear the intake. Thanks again Dave...

Yeah, I love the way that engine came out. Who ever says "you dont haveta detail an engine", has not taken a good look at yours.

There is a spacer that goes between the upper and lower intake, give you live 3/4"-1" more highth. The valve cover will then fit under the upper on the passenger side. Plenty of clearance on the 351. If i remember right we had to put a spacer on Ironclad's 302HO to fit his valve covers in. And thanks for the cudo's :toothless

Yep... its called a "phenolic plenuim spacer." It fits between the uper and lower intake. They sell as contraptions to keep the intake air cooler. I bought mine to raise the upper intake up off the Ford Racing valve covers. I got mine from Summit as I recall? I looked, but couldn't find the one for an F-150 listed anymore. All I could find was Mustangs. :shrug

The Bronco script valve covers on CSN.Rebels 351 came from JBG.

To all FSB member's.I'm so ****ing pissed!!! I've been doing some investigating and found out what's been going on with my vote's. Seems like a co-worker over heard me tell a friend about the contest and the chance of getting in a magazine. So he took it upon himself to register and vote for my truck and told countless other's to do the same. So who know's how many fictious vote's I have. I had absolutely no part in this bull shit scheme, there's too much hard work in my Bronco to throw this away. When I asked him why he did it he said because he wanted me to win...Shit!! I told him thank's alot, now I'm out of the competition. In light of this, I want to withdraw from the truck of the month contest. I do not want to win a contest by dishonesty and cheating,I want to win it on my own merit. This is clearly a violation of the contest rule's. Pepe, can I change my vote? :histerica :drinkbud Gotta like a man who drives Bronco and keeps his corn in a jar!!!!

Guys, I would really be against my Fiancee drinking that much fun in a jar in one sitting, but I still want him to win.

So, please vote for Dave's Bronc 90 out of the kindness of your hearts!!!

Tex, If we cut him some slack, then it would have to be tolerated everytime it happens. {Not Fair}

Its happened before and same results. I cant say it enough, but if you suspect any cheating, it is your responsibility to put a stop to it as a NOMINEE.

This is not Junior High, We are not here to baby sit. I know I say it over and over again, "PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE READ THE RULES"....

As much as I want 300 VOTES, this is not the way I want to achieve that GOAL.... :twak

Ohhhh, nonononono, you got me wrong. Yeah, I'm ok with DQ'ing freak because in the end it's still cheating, what I meant was that his friend meant well... he fawked up, but meant well.
But now that this is out of the way, you know the odds of anything like this happening again are pretty damn miniscule.
Anyway, just to celar things up, I'm NOT trying to excuse what the guy did, but it doesn't seem like it was done with malice.

Good call on Pepes part, and good luck next time Freak. :thumbup

so how does one tell if there is suspected cheating going on?

Go back a couple of pages. Didn't it seem unusual that there were some noobs signing up just to vote for Freak? If that didn't set off any alarms... well, then I guess you're not a big fan of misteries are you? :goodfinge

You are absolutely correct, Tex. If you are NOMINATED and you tell your friends and they sign up and VOTE for you, Something is up.

I cant put the blame on Freak, because I dont know, but someone had to let those who VOTED for him know where to go too sign on.... :shrug :shrug I am not saying this is watt happened.... :shrug

This is why when you are Nominated and you see something that does not seem right, you need to contact Pepe`, Marauder or Myself {Allcruisen}, that you think something funny is goin on......

I know this is not gonna be the last time this happens. But for those that continue to CHEAT you will be CAUGHT & DISQUALIFIED :banghead

So those of use who legitimately cast our vote based on what we saw- do we get to vote for our second choice? I had no part in this just casted my vote as my choice. i think we should get to re-vote only fair to those in contest.- bob

...occasionally votes may be granted back to those that voted for a removed nominee, but this is NOT standard practice and will be granted depending on the specifics of a given situation... according to staff decision.

Personally, I would like to see the legit folks on here get their votes back. Not my decision to make, but just thought I'd mention it. Also, VOTE DAVE"S BRONC 90.

It's not a question of fairness at all... it's a question of admins tracking and re-releasing 49 votes that were lost (ok, not all of them were legit but you get the idea).

If you voted for freak, and would like to re-vote... please PM me and I will enter your vote for you in the polls. I now have a list of everyone who has voted and your PM will be verified before your vote is entered.

Matt, We feel your honesty on this, but unfortunately loved ones, friends, think they are helping out when in reality they are just hurting you.

I, along with the FOTM Mods., try and make it clear. I know its kinda hard not too say to people that you have been NOMINATED, but, at the same time you need to remind them about the rules.

I too, am sorry, I did wanna see a great finish this Month and it looked like it was gonna be a close race :banghead :banghead :banghead

Good Luck in the future, and again, I am sorry for the inconvenience....
