View Full Version : East Coast Trail Ride FSB Meet
jermil01 07-31-2003, 06:11 PM After talking with the guys in the NE Chapter, we came to the conclusion it would be cool to try to do a real FSB meet somewhere on the east coast. Possibly somewhere in the Carolinas, Tellico comes to mind. We are looking at next spring or summer so it should give everyone plenty of time to get their junk fixed and ready to roll..Wanted to get some input as to locations and dates..let the fun begin.
drexelsteve 07-31-2003, 07:10 PM i hear there's some cool stuff in west virginia...hillbillies n such:thumbup
SMOOTH 07-31-2003, 07:18 PM I can not atest to the variety of locations we have over here, but I can say Tellico is the bomb! I only rode the moderate trails, but I have heard really good things about the challanging ones! Also, there is a campsite near by owned by Steve Crawford, unfortunately he is a jeeper, but he has a really good facility with showers and toilets. Also has partial and full hookups for those p*ssie....I mean those who chose to use campers. J/K! He is the closes you can get to the trails without actually camping on them. Also he has a garage for rent if anything breaks.
I am all for this idea, I think Tellico is a great place, but I'm always open to other suggestions.
MM
Ogeechee 4x4 07-31-2003, 09:02 PM Just tell me where and when to show up!! :thumbup
Project Lazarus 07-31-2003, 09:08 PM Hmm, I might have the truck done by then, if so, then count me in. There's a place here near Durham, Kemp Rd that seems pretty cool. But I doubt that's enough to satisfy all the people who drive from different states. Then of course, there's Uwharrie.
gobucs 07-31-2003, 09:42 PM Tellico is the best spot. Rocks, clay, and streams, but this is not for the truck with 31s. I would recommend one axle locked and some lift. A winch is needed in the group you're with to pull the vehicle that cant do it. Also expect some battle scars on your vehicle from this trip.
SMOOTH 07-31-2003, 11:14 PM Buc,
[in my best Lumburg impression]
"mmmm, yeeeaahh, I'm going to have to....go ahead and..disagree with you there."
I ran 4, 5, and 6, at the free 4 all and it was after some good rain up there. My truck is basically stock w/32's. But Saturday's run we had three stockers with us (I think one was on 28's) and they made it fine. Now, we had several high centers, but nothing a quick tug can't fix. I do agree that atleast one winch is a good thing to have, but I wouldn't call it necessary, atleast not on those trails. Hell, I made it up Fain's Ford and I'm not locked, no gears, nothin. I didn't want to be limited to run up and down 1 (dirt road) all day. I did take a very small amount of body damage:
bent skid plate (to be expected)
bent rocker panels (only because I didn't want to be pulled up Fain's ford)
and a few small scratches on a rear quarter panel on a root on 4, and that wouldn't even be noticable if I had a decent paint job. The second I hit the truck with pressurized water, the paint flaked back.
So, I wouldn't say stockers can't go, 4, 5, and 6 are challanging, but doable by stockers with good spotters. It will make your butt pucker a little but it will be alright!
:lolup
MM
GearHead 07-31-2003, 11:19 PM next spring or summer sounds good at tellico.
maybe by then i'll have my tranny fixed.
gobucs 07-31-2003, 11:34 PM yeah you are right on trail 4 you can do stock fine on trail 6 expect body damage. Trail 5 is unknown to me so I believe you're right. You can go almost anywhere if you have a good spotter, and it is needed to clear lots of rocks at Tellico. All I can say for the Dixie people is it is way better than anything I know of in FL.
drexelsteve 08-01-2003, 01:26 AM now i know i'll get some heat for this but im probably not the only one wonderin. what is tellico? Is it like paragon, an official park w/ entrance fee, rules, open to general public, etc. Or is it just a place where everybody goes wheelin like the pine barrens? :shrug
SMOOTH 08-01-2003, 09:49 AM Tellico is on the border of NC and TN right above GA. It is a national Forrest that has a $5 a day ride fee (I think that's the amount) that's it. There are alot of trails with alot of challanges. I still don't know where ya'll are getting trail rash on 6, I ran up it and down it with no problem, must have been some terrible weather while you were up there.
The only real downside I can think of with Tellico is it is a good treck out if you break something, and there aren't access roads (that I know of) to the really cool stuff like school bus, guard rail, and helicopter pad. You basically have to have the rigs that can run them to get to them. Though I know you can get to the top of the Rock Garden. I have a few pics on my website: http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/detail.php?id=2526
Another option I wouldn't mind checking out is a place called Wheelin in the Country. It's more West in TN then Tellico but their trails are right off of the camp site, so you can ride in the morning, come back for lunch and go back out afterwards. Tellico it's a little harder to do that.
NEways, my vote is still for Tellico, but that's me.
MM
[Edit] The only rules I know of at Tellico is ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL ON THE TRAILS. You can't even have it in your truck, ANYWHERE, while on the trails. But if you have a problem with that, I'm not sure I would want to wheel with you anyways.

What he said:beer
Miketnf150 08-01-2003, 10:09 AM Tellico sounds great!!! I have never been there, seen pics though and some of it looks pretty nawrly! I don't have lockers, or a winch. I will be lifted by then...6", extended radius arms, 33's or 35's.
Myself...I don't want to break anything major. I don't have alot of $$$$ to just up an repair broken stuff. Also this is my DD so definately breaking something worries me a little. But anyways...I will do my best to come. I really would like to come and meet everyone!!!
So count me in.... If something looks a little ruff for my rig I will watch or ride along if someone doesn't mind!!

Have winch, will travel, I'm not worried about body damage, you can't hurt rust.
Spade 08-01-2003, 04:46 PM That sounds like fun. I would go.
Leonard 08-01-2003, 06:11 PM i'm up for it definatly, hopefully be able to get a few odds and ends togather.
dsotmoon 08-01-2003, 08:01 PM who's going to head this thing up ? ? ? i have some ideas, contacting bronco driver magazine, classic bronco, project bronco and maybe others and see if we could plan the biggest full size bronco gathering on the east coast or maybe we could just do a FSB thing only to start out with, i figure it will take about a year to recruit and promote something on a large scale, who's up for it, of course i'll be glad to help when i can
Blaze 08-01-2003, 08:15 PM Count me in!:thumbup
Joe, I can head this thing up if need be...I don't wanna take the ball from any body here, just offering since I'll more than likely have the most time on my hands...:shrug Lemme know what you guys think...I personaly agree with you though, if it's gonna be a year away, lets just call it a FSB fling...(allthough anyone is welcome to join the Dixie boys on any of our runs!):beer
P.S. If I am chosen to head this thing up I won't be able to get hard core into it till around Oct. as far as the planning with Bronco driver, 4wheel, and Offroad, but that should still give them plenty of time...I've got some family issues to address around Sept. but after that I can give 100% to it....:shrug
GearHead 08-01-2003, 08:20 PM i'll help with what i can. it will give angel and myself more motivation to make sure we make it to this one.
Here's the official website for Tellico, has the maps, trail description, campgrounds. Whatever. Its all here. http://www.tellico4x4.com/murphy/index.htm
If its at Tellico, I could probably make it. Won't be wheelin', but I'll come and ride with somebody. :thumbup
gobucs 08-01-2003, 08:33 PM This run sounds pretty sweet and it is like a year away. I guess we would camp at a site for a few nights or more. :rebelflag
There are a ton of pics on the net from people that have done runs at Tellico. I think there's even obstacles like a rock pit and stuff to play on in the center of the Crawford's campground.
I've always wanted to go up there, but I have no desire to drive. I just wanna ride shotgun.
gobucs 08-01-2003, 09:00 PM I got an open seat if you don't get any better offers.
SMOOTH 08-01-2003, 10:26 PM Babe you know Heather and I have a seat for you if needs be.
I second the nomination for Blaze to get this orchastrated (can an initial nomination come from himself?). Blaze I'm in for what ever I can do. I would love to see some sponsers with some give aways but with this things just starting out, it's gonna be hard.
Let me know what we can do to help and we will be there with what we can give.

Miketnf150 08-02-2003, 12:35 AM All those in favor of Blaze being head cheese say, "III"!! Those apose like wise!!!
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!
I don't know exactly how much help I would be but am glad to do what I can...
Leonard 08-02-2003, 01:21 AM very cool sounds sweet as hell, sure blaze has my vote and dont know what i can do but if i can help just let me know.
SMOOTH 08-02-2003, 10:54 AM Well, I'm going to throw this out here, and Blaze can chime in as he pleases, but we should start by getting an active, semi-committed head count. Once we have established the count, we can decide the size of the beast. From there we can decide if we need to pass out some smaller responsiblities (i.e. food, prizes, organizations, stickers, t-shirts, etc.). If the size does dictate some combined efforts we should probably try to have a committee meeting. Now, if I'm wrong and Blaze wants to swing this on his own, no argument here, but I would imagine spreading some responsibility would be helpful, and it would be easier to get consensus of what everyone wants. And since Blaze isn't available till October I believe it is, I think he should come to Atlanta for a weekend and he and I will go hunting. Yes, I think that's the best idea to get this thing going....me and Blaze hunting.
Seriously though, I don't think a meeting of the minds would be far fetched. Ya'll let me know what ya'll think.
MM
Blaze 08-02-2003, 12:55 PM Sounds about right to me, Smooth. A meeting would be ok...but as far as a head count goes it needs to be posted in another forum because as I said, if I'm gonna do this, I would rather see it as a whole club thing...one year gives plenty of people time to plan...if it goes well, it can be an annual thing and will be held in a different spot the year after, etc. (give all of our members a chance to make it to at least one at some point):shrug On the smaller chores (t-shirts etc.) there'll be plenty for anybody who wants to do something. I was just saying I can take this on if ya'll want, and I can try to get in touch with a few magazines to see if they're interested in coverage, call up some sponcers see if they wanna donate door prizes for a raffle, etc. I'll laso have to make some scouting trips....:beer
GearHead 08-02-2003, 03:05 PM shane, just tell us what we can do to help.
jermil01 08-04-2003, 09:50 AM Let's do it, maybe we can put a poll up first to see where everyone wants to go. Or is the general consensus on Tellico? 'cuz that's fine with me..Next spring should be great, weather should be nice and everything. Shane is right though, there is a lot of little S** t that will need to get done, the sooner we get started the better.
Spade 08-04-2003, 11:08 AM I can help out with whatever just let me know.
abaddriver 08-17-2003, 12:32 AM you guys can count me in.:thumbup if i can get my truck ready. sounds like we'll all have a great time. BTW with me being a new member.....hi eveyone:)

Project Lazarus 09-08-2003, 01:00 AM Sooo......do we have a date yet? Or at least target weekend?
southrnpride69 09-13-2003, 10:38 PM Alright everybody got really excited about this and then it faded... has anything been discussed thought about or planned?? I am still looking forward to it so I dont really wanna see it forgotten.
SMOOTH 09-14-2003, 11:48 AM Here is the skinny as I know it...
Shane (Blaze) is going to be getting this organized but he needed to wait till after some traveling he had to do. Now I believe he is in the middle of this traveling and will be back soon, but Blaze can answer for himself better then I can. I'm sure this won't be fading, there are alot of people who are all about this, so it will happen. But, since we are planning for the spring, we've still got time to get it organized.
MM
bigdave 09-14-2003, 01:13 PM Hopefully I'll have my junk back on the road by then.
reptillikus 09-21-2003, 10:34 PM Woah, i should check in this board more often, i didnt realize there was a thread goin about this already!

jermil01 09-23-2003, 05:48 PM I don't see why it won't be a go. Blaze should be back in a week or so and hopefully we can get some things rolling then.
soaker2000 09-23-2003, 05:53 PM great. this would be my first real wheeling trip.
i think iam going to try and trailer my 78 with my 92.

SMOOTH 10-06-2003, 10:40 PM For any who are attending or are interested. We are planning on discussing this trail ride at the Dixie Chapter meet and greet in a few weeks here in Ga. I know not everyone who is planning on attending the trail ride will be at the M & G, but your thoughts will be heard. This is just to get an idea of what people are thinking, and what ideas they have to offer. If you have points, thoughts, ideas, suggestions, opinions, etc. that you want to share with those at the M & G but will not be able to attend, please feel free to PM or e-mail me or Blaze or Bronco Babe (only ones I can think that are attending off the top of my head) and we will bring them up. All dates and important aspects of the trip I'm sure will be up for discussion and possibly vote, so you won't be left out. But if you are coming to the M & G and the trail ride, now is the time to start thinking about what you would like to see at the trail ride. This is only the beginning ya'll, we will have many trail rides and many events to support not only the dixie chapter but Fullsizebronco.com as well. I look forward to meeting you all.
MM
Blaze 10-07-2003, 12:40 AM Couldn't have said it better myself!! It's time to represent Dixie chapter!!!!:rebelflag
cherokee237 10-08-2003, 03:01 AM Tellico sounds great to us. We have always wanted to go but not many of offroaders are left since they closed our favorite spot. When do you think it will be? I've heard that about half the trails can be run with at least 31's and you have a tow strap.
Blaze 10-08-2003, 03:11 AM We're looking at late spring early summer...I can't tell ya a damn thing about the trails, I've never been there...:shrug
cherokee237 10-08-2003, 03:17 AM I think if you go to the tellico web site it has the rules for certain trails. A friend of ours went in his jeep and video taped some of the trails. Theres some nice stream crossings and some easy trails. I belive they also have the difficulty ratings for them.
SMOOTH 10-08-2003, 09:16 AM http://www.tellico4x4.com/images/tellico/tellico_map.gif
There is a stream crossing on 4 and on 5 I'm not sure where other ones are.
Bobby 10-08-2003, 08:07 PM I was thinking of checking it out in early Nov I've got a 3 day weekend thought about driving up and doing a little camping too
SMOOTH 10-08-2003, 09:59 PM If you give me a date, I might be able to meet you up there. It's only about an hour and 1/2 drive for me.
reptillikus 10-08-2003, 11:28 PM I am definitely in, but not being from the area, i dont know anything about it, so lets just leave it at "im in":thumbup
But seriously, ill have no problem getting the time off from work, so whatever weekend works best for everyone is cool with me! Doesnt even matter to me what trails we run, itll be cool enough just knowing that im wheelin in tellico:D

SMOOTH 10-09-2003, 09:59 AM Wedding huh? Congrats! Well, I think this will be a good scouting trip!
Bobby, Rep, and Justthattwo, are you three going to be at the Meet and Greet? That would be a good time to get all our meetings cordinated. If you give me a date and who would want to stay overnight, I can call Steve Crawford to reserve some spots. I believe it's $7.50 a night for primitive which includes use of the rockgarden, lock challenge, ramp and some reall nice facilities!
jermil01 10-09-2003, 10:32 AM Thanks man, yeah Nov 16th, its right around the corner, so most of my weekends up to that point are full up. It's a wonder I'm able to swing the Mudtoberfest ride. Just make sure y'all take plenty of pics.

BigBronco96 10-09-2003, 04:08 PM I know I am a bit late chimming in on the trail condition of Tellico, But.
Take this with bias in the fact that my rig is set up pretty well. trail riding specs 6" lift 35" tires MT's 8 lb' air fron and rear, detroir and ARB lockers.
I have been up there many time in my bronco and on 4 Wheeler. Trails 4,5,6,8 are all great runs for all rig big and small. As for body damage Trail I havebeen many times and not got a single scratch. As Smooth said this can be done with almost any 4x4. I lead a group at this years ECBR event that had a few EB' with 31" and the only hang up we had was umm Smooth.
Trail 6 currently has a few trees that might rub you sides.
Trail 4 going up fains forge will get some rocker panel damage if you are not carefull.
The best run for stockers is up 6 up 8 to the top of 9 (stop and walk down to slick rock and watch the big boys play), back down 8 out 4 and down 5.
or
Out 4, up down 8, down 6.
A fun run would be up 5 and out 4 to 6 and out.
We can also take a run up the dirt road to the top of lower 2 (Rock Garden) and to the bottom of upper 2 (The ledges)
SD
SMOOTH 10-09-2003, 04:17 PM HEY!!!:twak
You looky here mister! I was not the only hang up, just the only one who high centered. Lance bent a tie rod and that other guy had to rebuild his carb on the trail. And that sweet 78-79 we rode in briefly had to be left on the trail. Again, once I get my lift in I won't be "that little Bronco" anymore!:lolup
BigBronco96 10-09-2003, 04:28 PM Sorry I just remember crawling the the section you got "High Centered on" with no problem and did not realize that I had left my parking brake on HAHAHAH :lowblow

Good point, we'll have to keep that in mind. I had kinda thought about spring break, but every school is different so early summer may be our best bet...
SMOOTH 10-10-2003, 09:16 AM Southern,
Your kids going back to school full time? My family in Poquoson said they are only having 1/2 days their. They have to split the high school so the elementary school kids can use it. They won't be out of school till August. LOL! I'm pretty sure ECBR will do their Free 4 All 3 during Memorial day weekend so that's out.

BigBronco96 11-11-2003, 08:34 PM Why not try and do the run the weekend of November 22
SD:thumbup
SMOOTH 11-11-2003, 08:47 PM I think that would be too short notice, unless you are talking about scouting. Plus, we have been discussing going up next spring or summer when the kiddies are out of school. We need to get Blaze's input on this since he is organizing it.
Ogeechee 4x4 11-11-2003, 08:48 PM nov. 22 2004 or next weekend :shrug
BigBronco96 11-11-2003, 08:58 PM I thought that we where still woring on a scouting trip.
I guess the Big run would have to be in mid July or November of next year.

SMOOTH 11-11-2003, 09:05 PM Not sure what came of that, BTW Shane, 19-22 I'll be hunting Dawson Forrest, I may not hunt the 22 to run w/ya'll @ Tellico, but if you have any spare vacation and want to go, let me know.:thumbup
GearHead 11-11-2003, 09:38 PM sweet, i have few day on vacation i have to burn this year, and i already had planned to make that a long weekend.

I'll call you in the next few days....I haven't even taken my gun out of the case so far this year...:banghead I'm way past due!!:thumbup
SMOOTH 11-12-2003, 08:53 AM By all means do so, I couldn't believe how NOT crowded it was. There were LOADS of places to hunt. Now I just need to get something!
bnkrtstk 01-02-2004, 01:34 PM Any closer to picking a date for this?
jermil01 01-02-2004, 01:39 PM We ought to just post a poll to see what the best month would be. I'm voting for April.
Blaze 01-02-2004, 02:14 PM Yea, the poll things a good idea Jer. I been busy with the holidays etc. Now that the holidays are over I'll buckle down on this. Smooth, I'll give ya a hollar this week-end so we can set up a scouting trip. :beer
drexelsteve 01-02-2004, 06:17 PM yeah lets pick a date so i can start plannin.
Ogeechee 4x4 01-02-2004, 08:26 PM My spring break is March 15-19 but i'm thinking that may be too early--what do y'all think? I graduate May 1st (WOO!!) and i really don't know what i'll be doing after that--or where i'll even be :shrug
Blaze 01-03-2004, 12:55 AM You know guys...we did the first annual run mid july, how bout we just have this be the second annual Dixie run around the same time?? :shrug It'll be bigger than the last getting up closer to where some of the more northern Dixie folks are....whatcha think? :shrug Having it at Tellico maybe some folks from other chapters will travel in. I know we aint scared to travel down here in Ga. Fl. but some of the others didn't realy know anything about Ocalla...it's deffinatly different than what most expected I'm sure. but folks can go online and check out Tellico...Second annual "run in the sun" @ Tellico....whatcha think guys??
P.S. remember when it gets closer and we get details hammered out we can post this out on the rest of the board and we may get a BIG response...I still wanna try to get Bronco driver to come out....it's closer to their home base this time.
SMOOTH 01-03-2004, 01:27 AM Yea, the poll things a good idea Jer. I been busy with the holidays etc. Now that the holidays are over I'll buckle down on this. Smooth, I'll give ya a hollar this week-end so we can set up a scouting trip. :beer
Blaze, check your PM box, we can move it to Tellico as the pre run if everyone is game. Makes no difference to me. I'm up for any date for the "official run" ya'll just let me know, you know you can count on me.
"I can't wait to get lifted!"
lecifer 01-11-2004, 08:03 PM Hey all!!! l'll be @ the Charlotte,NC M&G Feb 21. :chili: But this 2nd annual thing in Tellico sounds fun too. :beer Set it up l'll be there. :rockon
gobucs 01-11-2004, 08:35 PM I only know Florida seasons, not TN conditions but a rainy weekend or a really cold one would draw a weaker turnout than a more temperate time of the year. I will be there in the 79 when the time comes though.
Tomh971 01-11-2004, 08:43 PM i hear there's some cool stuff in west virginia...hillbillies n such:thumbup
You need to see the movie "Wrong Turn" LOL... you might think a little differently about West Virginia... :wacko :wacko
:histerica :histerica :histerica :histerica
No offense to West Virginia... but the movie was set in W.Va....
reptillikus 02-13-2004, 06:59 PM So i was at work today, and my boss said......when are you going away again? And then i remembered that we never picked a week!
So whats up? is this ride still a Go, or did it just kind of fizzle out?
gobucs 02-13-2004, 07:40 PM It is still in the works.
karaoketpa 02-13-2004, 08:03 PM I found this while wheeling the internet:
East Coast Bronco Registry (http://www.ecbregistry.org/F4AIII/info.html)
Blaze 02-13-2004, 08:58 PM It is still in the works.
We should have a little more info after next week-end (21st)
SMOOTH 02-14-2004, 09:28 AM I found this while wheeling the internet:
East Coast Bronco Registry (http://www.ecbregistry.org/F4AIII/info.html)
Ya, the ECBR are good folks. They have a few rides I intend to attend. I was at their F4A II, it was great, but we are still trying to have a ride just for Fullsizebronco.com DIxie Chapter (though anyone can come). Though I hope to see a good turn out from the Fullsize crew at the F4AIII, we can all camp together, we need a banner! :rebelflag
Shane's (Blaze) is right, we are meeting next weekend for the M & G and will be in discussion, so if you want to add something please attend!
GearHead 02-14-2004, 11:24 AM let us all know what you guys figure out asap.
i'm planning on taking a week off from work to go to this, where ever and when ever it is.
guess this means i gotta hurry up and get axles under my rig huh?
:rebelflag
SMOOTH 02-14-2004, 11:43 AM Great! I'm glad so many are making arrangements to attend. We will try to make it worth it. I figure Blaze, I, and the rest of us should be able to get most if it hashed out next weekend.
GearHead 02-14-2004, 11:52 AM sounds good.
btw, is there any open season on anything in GA or any other state we're gonna be in?
i'm sure i'll spend part of that week with the wifes family in south ga, we always go shooting out on the farm there.
but if i could get a day or two of hunting in would be great. turkey, deer, what ever.
not to hijack this thread, just seeing if anybody wants to do a little more fsb redneck socializing.
spring turkey season is coming up here soon if florida if anyone is interested.
Blaze 02-14-2004, 01:15 PM Well, I'm not to sure anything will be in season other than hog during the time frame we're looking at...but I'd be willing to make a trip to Douglas to hang out a bit...maybe we can talk Ogeechee in to sliding on over..:beer
Ogeechee 4x4 02-14-2004, 04:30 PM I imagine that I could "slide over" for a bit....
If i ever get my POS bko back on the road... This lift install is kicking my arse. It's fighting me at EVERY single turn... I've got like 6 bolts left (2 on each rear spring and the two lower rear shock mounts) ALL of them are rusted on. I tried using cut-off wheels on a 4" grinder, but they're too small to reach the bolt in the leaf spring eye and my el-cheepo sawzall won't cut through the bolts...
*SCREAMS*
Ok-- I feel a lil better now.. But it's highly unlikely that i'll be able to drive it to the M&G next weekend. I'll probably be in the Taurus--at least it's a Ford...mostly.....
Blaze 02-14-2004, 05:38 PM You have a PM...
reptillikus 02-14-2004, 05:42 PM Last i heard, this was going to happen in....july? :shrug
Its not a big deal with me, as long as a date is set soon. I intend to be taking atleast a week so i can go camping down there before/during/after the trip, so i need to request time off soon before everyone else gets it :toothless
SMOOTH 02-14-2004, 05:52 PM We will try to nail down a date this weekend. It's just hard, cause we don't want to go when other events are going on. Ogechee, I feel you man, I wish I was closer so I could help. Gear, I'm always up for some huntin/shootin, pigs are always in season, just depends on if they live on ya'll farm.
reptillikus 02-26-2004, 05:27 PM any word on a date?
damn im a pain in the ass :brownbag
bnkrtstk 02-26-2004, 05:32 PM any word on a date?
damn im a pain in the ass :brownbag
I was thinking the same thing. Sure hope I get a trailer by then.
reptillikus 02-26-2004, 06:12 PM yeah, me too. wanna rent a semi and a 40' trailer? ill go in half with ya :toothless
bnkrtstk 02-26-2004, 06:16 PM yeah, me too. wanna rent a semi and a 40' trailer? ill go in half with ya :toothless
Get some $$ that might be do-able. With a 40 footer we could fit 3-4 trucks on it.
SMOOTH 02-26-2004, 07:05 PM Ya, we nailed down a location, and we are in discussion on dates. I've PMed Blaze, once we get a consenus on a few things we will start a thread on it. I apologize on the delay, it's just hard to cordinate between the two of us. I can tell you we are looking at July, but I'm sure that doesn't help you very much.
drexelsteve 02-26-2004, 07:07 PM Get some $$ that might be do-able. With a 40 footer we could fit 3-4 trucks on it.
count me in
SSgtTEX 02-27-2004, 03:12 PM I would love to go, however ive never done any real trail ride, plus all my bronc has is 265/75r15 bridgstone dueler ats. just a tad bit larger than stock. I dont know how well ill do. but im not to far in huntsville, al. that place is basically a hop, skip, n a jump from me. how well yall think i could do, cause if there are trails i could make and someone willing to give a tug if dont id go. (without droppin a tranny, blowing an engine, or breaking an axle) :uhoh3
SMOOTH 02-27-2004, 03:30 PM Well, the nice thing about the place we decided on is there are access roads to the hard core stuff, so you could drive out to watch, but there are also trails that you can make with some finese. I had my rig with 32's on some of the trails with no problem, it just take some patients and some throttle control. If anything else it's always kewl to get together and meet your other FSB'ers, plus, if you don't want to take your rig out, I'm sure you can find someone in need of a co-captain.
karaoketpa 02-27-2004, 04:45 PM Tellico has little bit for everyone, and all range of vehicles and driver skill levels.
My uncle and I took a stock Blazer 4x4 up Tellico Trail #4 (luckily it was not too wet). It was doable, just took a lot of spotting and the occasional stacking of rocks to get by. We ended up having to turn around 3/4 the way up before the water crossing. Oh, and it was a RENTAL. :rockon I think we scraped all the paint off the bottom of the frame. :shocked :brownbag

SSgtTEX 02-28-2004, 04:42 PM well i figure from talking to one of my friends. if i can go, ill stick to the more easier trails :brownbag since i am not all that experienced. And if anyone doesnt mind me copiloting, spotting for them on the harder ones taht would be great.
drexelsteve 02-28-2004, 05:10 PM me and kallure were lookin into loadin the trucks onto the amtrak railway and shipping them down. roundtrip was around 300 bucks only problem is it's nonstop to florida. kinda defeats the point huh :banghead not lookin forward to a 12 hr ride in ol' rusty but looks like the only option :shrug
bnkrtstk 02-28-2004, 05:24 PM If we still have the Expedition, I'm going to drag the Bronco on a dolly. If we have something bigger, it will be trailered. But then the question is how do I get the camper trailer there :banghead . Maybe we'll rent an RV and tow the Bronco with that. I don't trust myself to save enough of the Bronco to drive 12 hours after wheeling.
I am going one the transport companies we deal with at work, to see how much it would be to get 2-3 trucks to and from.
drexelsteve 02-28-2004, 05:36 PM well keep us posted. i'm open to suggestions :thumbup
reptillikus 02-28-2004, 10:22 PM Yeah, im definitely NOT driving my truck 12 hours one way on a 4wheelin trip. Thats just askin for trouble. If it comes down to it, ill buy a trailer and tow it with my fathers truck. But i am definitely in if you can get a good deal on transportation :thumbup
Bilzhorse 02-28-2004, 10:36 PM I believe it is a little farther than 12 hours from Jersey. I'm in Va and its 10+ hours. :shrug
reptillikus 02-29-2004, 10:55 AM yeah, i forget how many hours it is...its been sooooo long since this thread was started :goodfinge :brownbag. I just dont wanna have to drive my truck there and back, there too many things that could go wrong during a road trip like that
GearHead 02-29-2004, 11:49 AM maybe i missed it, but that dates are we doing this? i need to mark it on the calander at work. planning on taking a week off.
SMOOTH 03-01-2004, 08:48 AM I am very sorry I haven't gotten that thread up yet. I've PMed Blaze to get his consesus on a few last details and then I will throw it up. If I don't hear from him by Wednesday, I will start the thread that will give everyone the details.
Thanks for your patients.
