Does anybody here watch that show. Personally, I love watching him walk into a house, rant about the previous idiot contractor and decide to "gut it".

What channel is it on and what happens? MatthewC 08-12-2005, 04:54 PM Well, you most likely dont get the channel, its Canadian TV. -Matt appy 08-12-2005, 05:09 PM probly not. didn't see that til after BorderBronco 08-13-2005, 09:13 AM That's hilarious....my g/f loves Home and Garden TV. That's the channel it's on here in Northwestern Ontario. I love making fun of him too. Especially when he does his little summaries. Hyenuf 08-28-2005, 05:29 PM Build like mike!!!!! Good show... makes you keep your eyes open about so called PROS coming in to do work on your home. I got roofers coming soon.... I'll be watching them... Thanks Mike!! :twotu: Sixlitre 09-04-2005, 01:35 AM Does anybody here watch that show. People down there must be stupid. If a contractor was pulling any of the $h@t that he discovers, in my house, they'd be re-doing the work the next F#@&ing day ! They wouldn't get one day past their mistakes before I'd be on em' like a pack of wolves. "Oh we had no recourse". Like hell. There's all kinds of people you can involve, threaten to involve and many avenues to pursue even before you go near the lawyers. With me the lawyers would be their last worry. You think they need a wide angle lense for Holmes, man I've never had a tradesman do anything but what I told him to do and I've run a shop of 37 of them. The guy seems like a good guy, but he keeps quoting code this and code that. It's open to interpretation up here and there's often many ways to do stuff. I'd like to have run into that Debbie Travis a few years back, she must have been a raver in her day. Still damned pretty face. That proper English accent barely masking her chuekter roots just gets me going ! Sarah Richardson's alright for a skinny chick, but those huge hands ! What's with that !? They are second only to Vancouver/Victoria in yuppie stupidity. I'm not a master carpenter or anything, but I have always worked with my father on his projects, as well as my father in law and Mike Holmes is right on many of the things he points out. Im with you on bad contractors. Swear to God, if I caught anything like I see on the show sometimes (such as the live power wire that was tiled over) I would kick sooo much ass. -Matt PS Nailing Debbie Travis would be like boning Mary Poppins.......sorta hot in a weird way.....hehe Sixlitre 09-05-2005, 11:13 PM Yes, he films in the Toronto area. MatthewC 09-06-2005, 12:07 AM Sigh!!!! I might have to move to PEI for a new job position.....dont tell me there's a million asian tourists there!!!!! I remember walking through the Vancouver International Airport. I felt like a giant!!!!! -Matt Sixlitre 10-23-2005, 12:39 PM Sigh!!!! I felt like a giant!!!!! -Matt Just don't visit Anne of green Gables farm, that's where all the Japanese tourists hang out. Apparently those life size, anatomically correct(all holes work), female dolls that some freak Japanese men collect, are doing a roaring trade with the Anne of Green Gables version. Wonder if they detach her pony tails in the heat of passion with their dolls ? Ewwwwwwwwww! Make sure you don't miss Captain Dick's Zombiefest each August outside Charlottetown. I was there in 1990, a week before A-lotta-Myles was playing and it was a gameshow to watch ! My sister-in-law is from PEI and my buddy spent 3 years building that 9 mile bridge, so I've seen quite a lot of PEI. The moonshine is to die for ! Hope you manage the change alright Sixlitre bronco boy 10-24-2005, 04:06 PM [QUOTE=Sixlitre]People down there must be stupid. If a contractor was pulling any of the $h@t that he discovers, in my house, they'd be re-doing the work the next F#@&ing day ! Look at the "leaky condo" crap we have here in the West. My buddy had to have $27,000 in repairs done to his 2 year old townhouse. The builders were idiots, simple things like no angle on the balcony for drainage, chimney flashing going under the roofing shingles. Even I know that ain't right. They wouldn't get one day past their mistakes before I'd be on em' like a pack of wolves. "Oh we had no recourse". Like hell. There's all kinds of people you can involve, threaten to involve and many avenues to pursue even before you go near the lawyers. One of the major issues here is that buddy starts up company #1, builds a house, condo, whatever. When he is done, he folds company #1 and starts company #2. He keeps doing this and rakes in the $$$$$. Disgusting! When my buddy was fighting his leaky townhome, the developer that built his place was building another place across the street, with a big sign claiming how this new place was going to be water tight, bla bla bla. And the thing about code this, code that; code is the minimum, not the rule to build by. Any good contractor knows this; to bad there aren't many good contractors out their. Oh, and do you ever wonder if the Holmes on Homes crew goes around fixing some of the crap that the Real Renos crew makes? :histerica waltman 10-24-2005, 06:22 PM I know some seedy roofers, I'm ashamed to say I'm related to one, and like bronco boy was saying they start up new companies like we start new threads. As a consumer/ customer you are powerless. If you try legal recourse, you're sol, they just declare bankruptcy and move on. If you try acting like Mr. tough guy you will wake up in the hospital in traction. He tells me some of the scams he pulls and laughs his head off while I just shake my head in disgust. It's common practice. What you have to do is get a whole whack of references and actually follow up on them. maritimer 11-03-2005, 02:51 AM holmes on homes is a modern day role model, now pei on the other hand is just a tad bit boring, my parent to me there when i was young an the only thing on the whole island worth going for was go karts :histerica , truly a boring spot. bronco boy 11-03-2005, 01:54 PM .....now pei on the other hand is just a tad bit boring.....the only thing on the whole island worth going for was go karts :histerica , truly a boring spot.
