View Full Version : Oklahoma M & G & Run: Disney, OK
Tomh971 08-14-2005, 09:19 PM OK OKlahoma... I've been talking with a couple other OK guys and we're wanting to do a run up in Disney sometime after Labor Day weekend. We would like to avoid the holiday weekend crowd... No date is set yet. So input on this would be great... speak and let us know so we can try to get this thing going... There's a campground up there, and a place to work on yer rig... :twotu: So let's get something going here...
This isn't limited to just OK... so anyone interested is more than welcomed... :twotu: :smokin:
k1w1t1m 08-15-2005, 09:27 AM I'm definitely interested. I now live in Bentonville AR so am not to far away.
Foghorn 08-15-2005, 02:54 PM Am I thinking of someone else or did'nt you just move to Moore like a year ago???
And I'd also be interested in the run....Fog
Tomh971 08-15-2005, 03:28 PM ok, how abut some dates from y'all??
Foghorn 08-15-2005, 05:45 PM Octember 32nd
:goodfinge :goodfinge :beer
hunter234 08-15-2005, 07:05 PM The 32nd sounds good to me. :goodfinge
Any weekend is good for me as soon as I get of my ass and work on the bronco.
Tomh971 08-15-2005, 08:58 PM Hmmm... I'll get back to y'all on the 32nd... ;)
k1w1t1m 08-15-2005, 10:28 PM Fog,
Yes that was me. From Moore, my wifes hometown, to Denver for a year where I bought the Bronco. Back to Moore for a year and now to Bentonville. When the company you work for chases the buck at Walmart you have to follow suit.
I'm looking forward to meeting a few of you.
Tim
hunter234 08-16-2005, 06:25 PM September 10-11.
Those dates sound good to everybody?
Foghorn 08-16-2005, 08:46 PM Fog,

Tomh971 08-18-2005, 03:06 PM that weekend is not good for me... falls beyween paydays... :(
hunter234 08-18-2005, 07:11 PM 17-18 then?
k1w1t1m 08-18-2005, 09:08 PM Sounds good to me
hunter234 08-23-2005, 04:08 PM Alright everybody I haven't heard anything about the dates I suggested. The dates good or bad for everybody?
By the way I suggested Sept. 17-18 in case you didn't read my last post.
I need feedback so that we can get this thing setup.
Who all is planning to go?
Tomh971 08-23-2005, 04:47 PM Well, I get paid on the 5th and 20th of the month... so... there's where I'm at...
hunter234 08-23-2005, 04:55 PM Ok so Sept. 24-25. That means you have to save your money for 3 days till the trip. That work for you?
I just don't want to get it too close to the end of October. I need to have some time to fix the bronco if I break it in Disney before I go to WITC.
Tomh971 08-23-2005, 06:28 PM that would be a good weekend for me... I hope... <crossfingers for no more bad luck>
Queen of the Forest 08-23-2005, 07:35 PM Wow...if I had the $$ for gas to get there guys, I'd be so there. Beats sitting around home :thumbup
k1w1t1m 08-23-2005, 08:59 PM September 24/25 sounds good to me
Tim
k1w1t1m 08-23-2005, 09:16 PM Living in Bentonville puts me in the Dixie Chapter but I'm less than 30 mins travel from both the Southwest and the Midwest Chapters.
I would like to meet a few of them too.

No problem there. Hell I've started attending the dixie chapter runs now. Superlift last month and then I'll be going to WITC in Oct. Dixie is a great bunch of people.

We can have a Bday party for ya. Mine was last Sat.
Tomh971 08-29-2005, 03:08 PM see... I knew there was another reason for drinkin' that weekend... :toothless :twotu:
k1w1t1m 08-31-2005, 10:12 AM Are we all still on for Sept. 24/25?
Foghorn 08-31-2005, 08:46 PM I'm still trying to get my plans figured out.. I would like to wheel at Disney, always wanted to go there..
On a side note... I'm planning on installing my 6in BDS lift this weekend. Should probably order the tires (35 MT/R's) on Friday and hopefully have them by Wed of next week....Gears are going to have to wait awhile.. Hopefully get them Dec/Jan. So it's gonna be gutless for awhile. Fog
k1w1t1m 08-31-2005, 10:10 PM I've never been to Disney either. I've seen it mentioned so many times so I can't wait to see it.
Good luck with the lift and tires. My wife complains about how hard it is to get into now (just 32" tires) so those kind of goodies for me are a little ways off.
Tim
Foghorn 08-31-2005, 10:30 PM My wife hates my rig... She was honestly happy when it caught on fire a few months back until she heard me say it was gonna be easy to fix.....
I tried to call Tom a few minutes ago. He's back working OTR trucks again.. I don't know if he'll be able to make it now or not. I left a message for him to call when he gets back in..... Fog
hunter234 09-01-2005, 10:01 PM I'm still planning on being there.
Tomh971 09-04-2005, 12:27 PM Fog!!! answer your phone!!!!! LOL
k1w1t1m 09-04-2005, 01:28 PM He's busy with his lift install.
Foghorn 09-04-2005, 11:14 PM LOL... Could'nt hear it over the compressor....Thanks for stopping by-----Fog
Tomh971 09-04-2005, 11:30 PM at least we got the back done... :twotu:
k1w1t1m 09-05-2005, 05:46 PM Sounds awesome. I'm looking forwarde to checking it out at Disney
Tomh971 09-05-2005, 06:55 PM the back is UP there... now all he has to do is get the correct front C bushings and we can get the front done... then, we'll need to get mine done... LOL
Skued 09-06-2005, 11:00 PM Mind if I join you fellas? I haven't been back to Disney since Hydro-locked the motor last year. :banghead
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=123466&toggle=fullsize&filename=trail5.jpg
Steve
hunter234 09-07-2005, 04:14 PM Holy crap. I thought you had fallen off the face of the earth. Hadn't seen you post since you hydrolocked.
Come and join us. The more the merrier.
I am going to have my Mom's travel trailer there so if anybody would like to sleep in the A/C just let me know. I usually stay at the campsite in Spavinaw, but am considering one of the campsites in Disney.
Foghorn 09-07-2005, 04:24 PM I'm still up in the air about disney. But I am still trying to get there... Trying to get my family to commit to thier plans so I know what's going on.
I will be in Kinta however for sure on Oct 29/30 for a wheeling trip with the Trailchasers. Anyone from the board is welcome to attend as well....
www.trailchasers.com is the website for the club.
There is also going to be a truck show on the 17th of September in Bethany,OK if anyone is interested in attending. We will have the 20' and 30' ramps at the show. Fog
hunter234 09-07-2005, 04:52 PM Doesn't look like I will be able to go to WITC in Oct. so I may plan on meeting up with you and going to Kinta. Never been there myself.
I may even come down to Bethany on the 17th.
Foghorn 09-07-2005, 05:06 PM Come on down... Kinta is nice, easy run. The actual trails are simple dirt roads with obstacles on the side trails. Even if you don't wanna run the hard stuff you can go along and watch or spot for the others.. I missed the run last year due to surgery, but Reddirt made it with his stocker and said he enjoyed it... I was really looking for this to be my break-in run for the new lift and tires, but Disney is calling my name. So I may try to do both..
If you make the Kinta run, we all usually stay at Robbers Cave state park. We also usually run with one or more of the rangers from there. It gets us into some of the areas of the park not open anymore...
There are always some pretty good door prizes and raffles at the truck show. I got a set of Warn lights and a nice powerwasher last year.... Lots a rigs to look over too...
Fog
hunter234 09-07-2005, 05:12 PM I'll make you a deal, you come to Disney and I'll make it to Kinta.
I've been to Robbers cave a couple of times. Great place.
Looking forward to seeing you guys.
Foghorn 09-07-2005, 05:16 PM I'm trying... But I'm also leaving on bussiness trip the weekend after Disney and the family is trying to decide when their coming to visit... I already suggested they meet me at Disney but that did'nt work...
I'll be in Washington for a week or two after that, so the wife is not happy at being home alone with the hell-yons anyways....Fog
Skued 09-07-2005, 08:59 PM I did in a way fall off the earth. After I replaced the motor I started a new project. Restoring a 1970 Dodge Charger and have been pretty tied up since. I'm taking a break from my Charger and playing with the Bronco.
Tomh971 09-09-2005, 01:27 PM Well, if all goes well... blah blah blah... trying not to jinx myself here... I gotta run to New Jersey this weekend, but next weekned would probably have me home... :twotu: paydays are looking like they'll be better than I expected... but, we all know how that goes... hopefully, I can get something done with the lift, if not, I'm putting a set of new generic front springs in this thing, just to level it out a bit... wish me luck...
hunter234 09-12-2005, 06:37 PM Alright guys we're 2 weeks away. Who knows for sure that they will be showing up for this. We need to decide where to meet and all that good stuff.
k1w1t1m 09-12-2005, 10:38 PM I am planning to be there. Not sure if it will be Saturday or Sunday though as the wife will be working on the other day.
I will be coming in from the Bentonville side
Tim
STUPID 09-12-2005, 10:52 PM I'd love to bring some junk out there, but I've got a stupid phucking wedding to go to that weekend. Every time I see this thread pop up to the top I kick myself, I'll definatly be up for the next OK/ARK M&G. I'll tell Sphinx about the meet, he's a fellow Okla. member on here w/ a new Bronco. He's prolly gonna be to big of a vadge to wheel though :goodfinge .
k1w1t1m 09-14-2005, 10:44 PM For those of you that don't know I work in the voice and data cabling business. The reason I am in Bentonville is because our customer (take a guess) is there. Today another vendor fell over on their part of a rollout so it looks like my weekends are F**ked for the next month getting this mess sorted. I am still hoping to make Disney but am definitely a "maybe" now. I'm pissed, I've been planning to be there for so long and then this happens.
Redwagon 09-14-2005, 10:46 PM bentonville...parents and sister are right over in centerton.
Skued 09-15-2005, 01:29 PM So any ideals on a meeting spot? I'm thinking i should be their(fingers crossed) around 10:30 or so Sat. Maybe at the enterance right off the dam where everyone parks. New transmission going in this weekend wish me luck it's second one in two weeks.
Steve
hunter234 09-15-2005, 06:55 PM That spot sounds good to me to meet up. Should be easy for everyone to spot.
I'll be camping all weekend, I'll be there Fri. night.

I know exactly what you mean. I am in the same business. Except we don't do alot of cabling anymore. We do the phone system installs and sometimes the computer installs. I've done a couple of those stores you are talking about.
I am glad that my company gave up chasing that retailers dollar. I couldn't stand working for those people.

Good luck. I hope the new trans works out good for you.
Foghorn 09-16-2005, 08:01 AM I'm out... Gotta work. One of my contractors walked off so I gota hire a replacement and try to get the project done on time...... Fog
hunter234 09-16-2005, 06:23 PM ASC or H&M? I used to work for ASC
Crystal Communications here in Tulsa. We were contracted by a different company.
Honestly don't remember which one. It was about 3 years ago, and I've slept since then. :brownbag
Looks like this may end up being just me and Skued. Possibly Tom, but not sure.
k1w1t1m 09-17-2005, 03:56 PM Sounds like I may get to go after all. At this point the weekend is being avoided for installations.
Yahoooooo
k1w1t1m 09-17-2005, 03:58 PM I'm out... Gotta work. One of my contractors walked off so I gota hire a replacement and try to get the project done on time...... Fog
That sucks. Good luck with the replacement.
Skued 09-18-2005, 04:40 PM Transmission is in and working great :chili: Only took two rebuilds :banghead
Hunter- I will PM you with Cell # later this week.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys and having great wheel'en trip! :beer
Steve
hunter234 09-18-2005, 07:45 PM I am finally replacing my broken front axle and RA bushings.
I'll be ready to have some fun next weekend.
This may have to be my last trip this year. So I am planning on making it a good one.
See ya guys there.
k1w1t1m 09-20-2005, 12:09 AM Just keeping it at the top for so any other interested parties might see this.
k1w1t1m 09-21-2005, 11:37 PM So any ideals on a meeting spot? I'm thinking i should be their(fingers crossed) around 10:30 or so Sat. Maybe at the enterance right off the dam where everyone parks. New transmission going in this weekend wish me luck it's second one in two weeks.
Steve
Is this still good? Do you have any directions?
hunter234 09-22-2005, 09:44 PM Best I can tell ya is check mapquest. Put in the city of Disney, OK and it should get you close enough to be able to see where the meeting place is. The dam is not hard to find at all. It's a mile long, somewhat narrow, and divides the cities of Disney and Langley.
Skued 09-22-2005, 10:28 PM So whos going besides Hunter and myself? k1w1t1m?
k1w1t1m 09-22-2005, 10:34 PM I'm planning on being there. Wifey is surprising me by wanting to come too.
hunter234 09-22-2005, 11:05 PM I'll have a friend of mine and his son with me.
Tomh971 09-23-2005, 01:37 PM Well, I gotta take a load of relief down to Louisiana sat night/Sunday AM at 2:00am... so, I gotta get some sleep all day saturday... so I'm out... :(
hunter234 09-23-2005, 06:22 PM Maybe next time Tom.
Next time for me will probably be mid spring. :brownbag
Tomh971 09-24-2005, 11:20 AM All I gotta say is you guys that do go, better have loads of pics!!!!
:toothless
I really wanted to go... having to work sucks!!!
k1w1t1m 09-24-2005, 10:07 PM Well for those that couldn't make it, I'm sorry you missed a great day. For those that couldn't be bothered, tough titty.
Hunter234, Skued and myself spent the morning along the river and found some mud. Only one stuck when I slipped into the ruts and went to easy on the gas. We then graduated to some good hillclimbs and descents. Unfortunately Skued had to return home at (late) lunch time.
After lunch Hunter234 and myself played in the riverbed.
Carnage was limited to one of Hunter234's tires which was cut in the sidewall and three small stones caught in the front disk dust shields (1 for Hunter234 and 2 for me).
My wife enjoyed the day, nows she's even talking about me getting a lift :-).
Pictures can be found here: http://www.supermotors.org/vehicles/registry/detail.php?id=10045&s=28641#content

Hopefully that link worked.
Skued 09-25-2005, 03:17 PM Thanks Hunter and k1w1t1m(Kiwi) for a great time in Disney! :twotu: It was nice to put a name with a face. Kiwi-sounds like the wife really had fun, tell her hello. Hunter thanks for leading the way, it's a kick in the ass to watch the big orange bronco!
I was in such rush to get there i forgot my camera, but between you two there should be some cool pictures. Sorry I had to run off after lunch Kids and wife needed me.
Hopefully we can make the Oklahoma Meet & Greet a annual or biannual deal.
Steve
:beer
hunter234 09-25-2005, 06:18 PM Had a great time with you guys.
Tomh971 and I have talked about getting an annual OK run together. Like what the dixie chapter has for their Run in the sun. I think we will have to plan a get together next spring and hold it annually at different locations in OK.
Here are a couple of pics that I have loaded on my superford so far. I have in cab video and other videos to edit and get up here also. :twotu: Disney Sept. 05 (http://www.supermotors.org/vehicles/registry/detail.php?id=5421&s=28655#content)
k1w1t1m 09-25-2005, 11:17 PM Yeah thanks for the great day.
An annual or more frequent event would be great.
