OK. I've got a '96 w/ 302, E4OD etc. I live in a county in NC where the new emissions law has just gone into effect. I was told by a local mechanic that when the truck was inspected, if any codes showed up that it would not pass inspection. My problem is: I wanted to do a SAS, but my '96 has ABS. Since the SAS is not compatible w/ ABS wouldn't I have a code all the time? Which would mean it would not pass inspection. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

Im not 100% sure but I dont think the front speed sensors will toss a code in the pcm, just the abs module. abs has nothing to do with emissions so they cant fail it for an abs code.
you could try and disconnect a speed sensor and pull codes and see what happens

yeah, I show the ABS connected to the engine computer in my books. You should be fine

Here's what I'd like to see:
Straight D44 uses the same hubs as a TTB D44, so attaching a tone ring (or reusing your old hubs) should be no problem AFAIK.
All that you'd need to do is build a place on the D44 knuckle to mount the speed sensor, and you'd have 4WABS with a straight D44.
I dunno that anybody has ever tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

that would work fairly easy, but those tone rings and sensors get abused if you wheel it hard, so for aot of people its not worth the hassle to do it, just to have problems with rocks(gravel size and such...) and mud hitting them.

ABS is crap anyway. Just learn how to pump your breaks on slick surfaces. It will make you a better driver.
IMHO they made abs for women drivers. You know the ones who just slam on their brakes, close their eyes, and pray to some unproven holy nemesis that they dont hit an innocent person or another car.
Plus it is hard for them to pump the brakes when they are using their make up bags, purse, cell phone, mirror, coffee, nail polish, cell phone, and smoking all at the same time.
