So I had to remove my BroncoAir kit to attach my Saginaw pump last year and it has never gotten reattached to my bronco. This is mainly due to problems with the pulley being designed for the Ford C-II pump. So I have been kicking ideas around for a new pump and I have come up with a design that I am in the process of building. Another advantage of this setup is that I can move it from the bronco (Zak) to my jeep (dark side). I will keep the 2.5 gallon pressure tank in the bronco but I will have to score another one for the jeep.

I found a guy selling a busted power washer. The power washer had a busted water pump but the 5hp Honda engine was in perfect shape. In fact the whole setup looks like it was not used all that much. So for $60.00 I got the 5hp motor and the frame that the motor was attached too.

I am going to use the frame for my Lincoln 225a ac/dc welder. I just need to clean it up, it is really nice and has two large rubber tires on it so it is easy to move around. If I get really tricky I will try to match the red paint on the Lincoln and paint the now yellow frame with it.

I need to score a 6" pulley with a 3/4" bore on it for the Honda motor. The motor runs great and fires right up on every pull. Then I am going to get a piece of 3/16" or 1/4" plate and build a base for it and my York pump.

I was going to use shaft couplers (the anti-vibration type with the rubber piece in the middle) but the York has a shaft with a 1/4 taper on it so I would have trouble with making the coupler stay on it. Plus if I went with the coupler I would have to go with a different pressure valve that costs in the neighborhood of $50.00.

I am going to hit some hardware shops today to see if I can score the pulley local but I will probably end up ordering it from www.surpluscenter.com

All for now but I will shoot pictures as things progress.

I do want to see pics. And I still think you're smoking the crack pipe but you seem set on this project. Looking forward to seeing how you make it work!

Either BroncoAir or Kilby (or maybe it's Oasis) has a direct drive setup with the compressor coupled to a motor shaft. Could you do the same thing with the Honda engine? Would you want to might be a better question.

Kilby/Oasis has one. I thought about doing this but it would involve a little machining work and a new pressure vavle. This way I can just run down to the hardware store and get a pulley and belt. Plus I am thinking that I will add an altranator in the future and it would be easier this way.

Sounds kinda heavy to move between two vehicles.

Or even to leave in one vehicle.

I would use the motor and get a big tank, couple it to a two stage compressor and you get a great set up for the shop.

Well it will be "kinda" heavy but I got a really strong 16 year old son so I will make him move it :)

Already got a great home comperessor.

on the trail a couple weeks ago a guy had compressor like this on the back of his flatbed toyota. that thing worked great, filled a 36" tire from flat in no time. i think its what you are talking about. i've seen them pretty cheap on ebay, it may be worth looking into, unless you already have all the components. its the style that a construction crew would use for nail guns and stuff...meant to be portable
