With my Miller 175 and a 40CF cylinder on the way I am curious what I can expect to pay to fill the tank. I have had no luck finding what to expect to pay to fill the new tank. I know you can rent or buy them but have not seen what it costs. Can someone post a chart on the cost to fill the cylinders?

Tank size 20CF 40CF 80CF
Gas Argon - CO2 - Mix

This might vary by area but I'm trying to get a general price. I'm thinking MIG but if TIG is different please add it as well. If plasma cutters need gas add them as well.

Here in the OH/WV area, I will pay around 40-50 to get my 20CF tank refilled (argon/co2 for MIG). The price varies slightly depending on which company I choose (20 year lease on the bottle from Linde, also have Airgas and Air Products around here)

IIRC, for TIG you need straight argon.

Plasma cutters that I have used require no specialty gases, just a good compressed air supply

Most of the gas supply house websites don't list prices unless you have an account, but call the local offices and they will usually let ya know

I pay about 60bucks to get my 110cu ft tank filled

and yes plasma cutters only require an air supply and 208 power to run

i'm not up to date on prices anymore but you guys would be suprised how much the gases actually cost, there is anywhere from a 300% to 1000% mark up

That seems pretty reasonable.

Once again finding myself glad I listened to KL....he talked me into getting the biggest cylinder I could afford. cyberweld had full 80CU tanks at the time for about $155 and I had a gift certificate from xmas last year, so I bought that. looks like this tank size will last me about a year between fill ups.

90 beater this is a good Question post. Wondering if you would mind if we expanded this, sure you would be interested anyway, but could we ask folks to provide price for 20/40/80 C25 mix AND what they pay for solid .030 or .035 large spools (think they are like 11#'s). And 1 other question that welders might be interested in...my current big spool is hobart, but I know Harbor Freight sells wire, probably pretty reasonable. Is there any difference in wire manuf. brands?

Wow it's about twice what I was expecting. Thanks for the replies.

Shadowfax, expand away. I did a lot of searching before I bought the new welder. I couldn't find pricing anywhere so I thought I'd ask. I was at Harbor Freight two days ago and stopped to look at the wire. .23 carbon steel 8" roll was $20 but I didn't get the weight. That's the only price I checked. I didn't know if it would physicly fit the Miller.

I bought mine from Indiana Oxygen (http://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/servlet/StoreFront) they had the best prices I found on the net.

Keep posting. I'm sure I'm not the only curious one here.

with a good regulator my 110 tank will last along time depending on how much I weld. anywhere from 4-6months. A good regulator is key, if you ever drop them or damage them in anyway they will read wrong and waste a tone of gas. I had one that got knocked around and it would blow through a 110 tank like nothing. they are kind pricy but worth the money.

again cyberweld has the best prices on wire. I pick up the 10lb spool of .035 for about 20bucks. the best part is shipping is free on everything. I will probably go to local shop to get a bigger spool now that it will fit in my welder. There is nothing worse then running out of wire or gas.

That's sweet, guess I will stick with cyberweld as well. Don't think HF is any cheaper than that, and I wouldn't care anyway as 10lb of .35 will last me quite a while and only $20.

Bringing back an old post but..where in the heck did you find that price? i just called around to get some quotes on getting a 40 cf filled and the lowest i found was $45. Also..anyone know anywhere to get good prices on tanks? Best price I have found was 99 bucks for a 40 cf, which is what I am leaning towards.

I have a 300CF tank for both Argon, and C25. The argon costs about $80 to fill at my local airgas and the C25 costs about $65. I would think a 20cf or 40cf would be dirt cheap to fill.

BTW, I buy 44lb spools of .035 wire at airgass for about $1.10 a pound. Just over $50 after tax for 44lbs.

IIRC i paid about $160 for a full 125 cf bottle of C25 at Linde Gas, it costs something like $20-25 for a refill.

Ok...aparently everyone is getting better prices than me. Anyone know of a good place in San Diego to go? I went to WestAir and it was 140 for a 40 cfm tank and another 45 to fill it!

never heard of that before. around here you just buy a bottle once and then when you refill your gas all you do is pay for gas and exchange your bottle for another.

BTW its 30 bucks for argon/co2 for my MIG...not sure on the CF of my tank, but it is between 3 and 4 ft tall. Thats all I buy from my local welding shop. Wire i pick up at Farm & fleet store as its open on weekends when i usually run out.

I just refilled it with mixed about 3 weeks ago and it was still about the same price. Gordon Woods (http://www.gordonwoods.com/html/locations.asp) has four local locations. They don't fill it at my location but ship it out and I get it a couple days later.

For wire I have been using the HF stuff and it works great in my Miller. 10 Lb spools are $20. I have .23 .30 and .35 spools. Unfortunately they don't carry .24 tips.

I do own my bottle. Since it's new I have it filled and returned.

You can get a 40 CF tank new from Indiana Oxygen Supply (http://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/servlet/the-CYLINDERS-cln-Mig-or-Tig-Welding-cylinders/Categories) for $98 FREE Shipping. If I bought again I would get at least a 80CF one though.
