I bought a web cam and a mic so I can see and talk to my Daughter more. She already had them so I thought it would be cool if I had them.

Well I got the web cam to work but I cant get the mic to work? I can hear myself through my speakers, but my Daughter cant here me, nor can I record my voice. Its just a plan ol mic, any idea?

yeah, i figured that would be too easy. are you networked? can you send from on machine to the other to verify it is not a prob on your daughters end? i haven't used any webcam software, but there are probably setting in there and maybe some default is messing you up.

Well the one she has is my old computer and I had the mic hooked up on that. I believe its on my end cause I cant even record any sound. I just hear it through the speakers. Plus I have tried to use it with other people and they cant hear me either.

have you gone into your volume control settings and checked to make sure things were not muted, or if there is a 'hot' key you have to press when video conferencing for voice to go through?

I checked that too, Im at a loss now.

can you swap mics with someone else for a test?

Are you plugging the mic into the speakers or the computer?

Into the back of the computer. Im going to see if it will work on my girfriends computer tonight.
