Now my curiosity is sparked: are there any members here in Washington, specifically the Puget Sound area? I know a few (Nameless, Pony-Boy), but that's about it. Anyone else I know is in Oregon. I'm in Maple Valley, just south of Seattle.:beer

Yup, it's the one some folks were cryin' about :cry As far as bodywork goes, I have a new hood, and I COULD have insurance pay for the rear quarters, but why? I bought my truck for a trail rig, not trailer queen!:toothless

I can find plenty of dirt roads, BLM land, etc, but my Bronco longs for someplace that would actually challenge it a little (prefereably without breaking anything or getting stuck, at least until I know what I'm doing). Unfortunately you are right about the vortex. I shudder everytime I have to 'go into town'.

It's getting pretty bad lately, I didn't know Chevron only allows you to put $50 of gas on your credit card per purchase until we bought the Bronco. Cost $55 to fill the 351 E150 yesterday, and it wasn't even completely empty! :banghead

Question... Do the forest service rangers her-ass you folks like they do down here? It's 20 questions every time we hit a national forest road. with the quads we just out run them but it's a little difficult to do in a lifted Bronco.

We have Boise Cascade land around here, just Federal Marshals patrol it, but luckily the guy buys hay from me so he isn't so bad, but state land almost isn't worth the hassle.

We go up into the GP forest all the time, mostly around Silver Star, though sometimes all the way out to Lewis River Falls, and I've never seen a ranger on the road. BLM land is completely unpatrolled, as far as I can tell. We go up around Tarbell and you get up there and there's all kinds of garbage thrown around and abandoned cars all shot up. I doubt there's patrols of any kind up there.

I bought it from a guy a couple of months ago off of 502 (219th) between Dollar's Corner and NE 10th.

Dark Blue, the grill was changed to that tubular design. Runs OK, but leaks from every imaginable seal. Has practically new 31 inch tires and wheels ($1250 from Les Schwab's, according to the paperwork.) It's got the 351 HO/C6 combo.

Everything (except the gas gage sending unit) works, but it needs help. Never been cleaned much, needs paint and so forth. Bought it as a project rig, but am, frankly, overwhelmed and full up on other projects, so, I intend to buy another, much newer Bronco; swap the wheels and tires to the newer rig, then sell the old one.

Simple, eh?

Stephanie
08-29-2003, 02:57 PM
That sucks. I remember seeing that one sitting there for sale. Too bad it needs so much work. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a newer one to replace it with. Seems to be a Bronco on every corner around here sometimes.

WEll, I thought I would say hi to yall over on this thread as well, but I am the very recent buyer of a stock 81. it has the 300 ci 6, but I am from ellensburg except for in the summer I go home to Cheney, lets go wheelin!

Congrats on the purchase of a 4x4, (even if it is a ford :banghead ) Ain't nothing wrong with those 300 six cylinders they are a great engine. They have good torque( it'll turn 33s no problem), and get decent mileage. Up to 18 mpg is not uncommon. :toothless :thumbup

Me and the official "2-Big Bronco Parts Graveyard" reside in Edmonds, WA. Of course my wheeling Bronco (as opposed to my mall-cruzin' Bronco) has been under the knife for over a year, so I don't get out on the trails much...

I grew up in Yakima, fled upon turning 18 to Pullman/Moscow for 7 years, and now have been down here in CO for the past 6 years... I'm interviewing for a position at my company's HQ in downtown Seattle, so the wife and I are looking on the west side of the Sound and take the ferry into work - maybe in Bremerton, Port Orchard, etc.... Anyone with suggestions on where to move/not to move - would be appreciated. Looking for a house with a big lot or a few acres with a shop or big garage so I can work on my Bronco projects without getting soaked or pissing off the neighbors.... :thumbup

Once we get settled, I'll definately be looking for wheeling buddies and places to go. I'm guessing we'll be moving in June/July....

The further out that way you go, the better the views and the prices. I've got a friend who's building out in Indianola, WA. Right on the sound, and far enough away from anybody else. Commutes over ferry to Tukwila, WA. You can get further south, and still get some decent deals. The property sizes go down and the prices go up the further you go.

I live in Olympia, WA. Far enough out for me...(country boy) and close enough to amenities for the missus (city girl).

Personally, I think it's kinda immature to make fun of other peolples' rigs, just cause you don't like them. Seems like there's plenty of Chev-only sites around.

On the other hand, :beer :beer no hard feeling's.

Just a friendly little jab thats all it was. Also I think I gave Ford a fair compliment. I dont know of to any other gas six cylinders of ANY brand that get the mileage AND have the power of the Ford 300 six cylinder. As for the sites like Colarado K-5s and so forth they seem to think their crap don't stink, and I wouldn't join their site if it was the last one on the web. So here I am at a decent site with decent members, where we can meet, greet, trade info and joke around a little.

And besides that I seem to have this rather large lawn ornament in my driveway......................

Cool. There's a guy at PNWFS4x4 that always takes shots at Fords, so I guess I was just gettin' frustrated. :wacko :wacko
Have a good one. :toothless :toothless
