the rawlings baseball bat is pretty popular in highschools. i haven't heard much about the softball bat. is there a batting cage near you that will let you demo one?

Samantha is a softball player...was on scholarship a few times (long story). And she is currently a coach for the local High School.

I showed her this and she says that personally she would stear away from Rawlings because in her experiences they dent easily. She would go more for a Easton or Worth. Andersons are supposed to be pretty good too. If you want something more end-loaded go for the Worth or Anderson...something more balanced, the Easton.

She said any other questions feel free to ask!

If you play in tourneys you have to make sure they are legal. I played softball for the first 6 or 7 years in my militaryt career, knee and back say no to that now though. I used a Dmarini double wall distance for years and that worked well, only could use it in above 68* or so, bat cracks easy when cold.
On a side note, i think you can hit the long ball with any bat. I swung a 34 ounce for a long time and rocked it out of the oaprk everytime. All about hand placement and bat speed. I swing a wiffle ball bat out of season to increase bat speed, but then again i hold the bat wiht 3 fingers as well....

Your local rules should be posted somewhere for allowable bats.

I use this Easton synergy II

I have two PPS bats and love them. On the team, everyone always grabs one of them to hit with. Great bats!

Oj...put fins on it and swing it in a pool or water. Builds hip turn power....that's where HR's come from. You can have the quickest bat in the world, but if you can't get hip turn...well your a lead-off or bottom of the line-up'er.

TPS isn't a bad choice, demarini's are expensive and don't last long

It's USSSA legal. We can't play ASA for a year, cuz we moved up a class based on tournament wins. Mostly used Mizuno Techfires til the Blur came out. It is junk, and I don't want to use any of the Mikens in the cold. Mostly looking for a 50 degrees or colder bat. I know the Andersons are tourney legal, but have been outlawed on our home diamonds

I used DeMarini's for years, but now the worth's have grown on me. But it all depends on what you like. I like a very skinny handle, one that doesn't taper at the end. That way the weight is toward the hitting end of the bat. Works for me, I've led the league in homeruns now for quite a few years.

x2, I have my Demarini's and LOVE IT, but with a slower pitcher I use my worth because it heavier.

If you play in ASA, your bat, if legal, should have a ASA stamp on it.

I am always sure to polish my bat really well at night. Sometimes I use oil on it.
