So My Bronco is in the shop now. It's been thare around a month and a half. I called Friday, and they said it would "definately be ready Monday". Finally!! I called today and guess what? Not ready. They said it will be another $250 to fix the new stuff they found! Needless to say I was not happy. I said as much, and the guy started getting an attitude with me. I told him I don't appreciate the attitude then he starts blaming me, and giving me the whole "This is what happens with older vehicles" routine. He said he was upset about me questioning him and his techs. He complained that I had been up there checking it out, and taking up his techs time. I just cancelled the rest of it and now have to find someone to repair the rest. I refuse to be treated that way. Now I have no Bronco for goodness how long because I simply don't have the money to do the extra work.

A little back story....

My clutch went out a while back, so I took it to a dealership that I was reasonably sure was honest (Still am sort of). When it went in they said he had to check it out, and would give me an estimate. So they finally got to looking at it and said it would be $1200. While reading off the repairs they said my motor mount had crushed a clutch hydraulic line. wtf? I wanted to see this, so I drove up there. Turns out he was wrong. Since, as I pointed out, no hydraulic lines pass there. Ok well he misread the invoice...fair enough. I looked and it did match up, so I gave them the go ahead.

About 2 weeks later I get a call and there was a lot of other stuff in the tranny bad that was gonna cost me around $2200 (with the other work). I'm not about to shell that out without seeing it for myself. I went up and talked to the tech for a while, and was satisfied with what he showed me, and what he said. The work really needed to be done. I saw it myself. Ok, go ahead.

Those are the 2 times I've been up there that he complained about. Now he has the nerve to try to hold that against me, and wonders why I question him when I was absolutely right to do so. What he told me was impossible.

I'm so pissed right now, but have no idea what i will do. The dealership where it is, is around 100 miles away, and I don't know when I can get there before it closes due to my work schedule. I think I'm gonna schedule a time to talk to the owner. If that gets nowhere guess I'm screwed. Gotta take it to a different shop to finish the work, and be out $2200 for what they did. Even though they were unable to drive it to verify the work they did was completed.

That is total BS. Hopefully, a discussion with the owner will bring you resolution. Lots of people are going to recommend you pitch a fit, and you might have to eventually. Schedule it on a busy day so other customers get skittish about doing business there, and be real rational and calm when you do pitch your fit so folks don't just think you are a blowhard who would never be satisfied no matter what treatment you received. I think it seem totally unreasonable that it has taken this long to get your truck. What's up with that?

What Dealer ship is it brad?

John Bleakly Ford once lost my Bronco for 2 hours. They did not know where it was. It was absoulutly halariouse. Turns out one of the techs parked behind the paint shop. :shrug

I would have been pissed if it wasnt so funny to hear the shop manager stutering on the phone becouse they didnt know where it was.

By the time I got there They had it parked in front of the service dept, waiting on me.

I havnt let anyone touch it since.

I'd rather not give out the name until this thing is finished one way or the other. I'll definitely post it when it's over with though.

lol I wish mine was that simple. If they could just find the problem, and say "Oh I just forgot to hook this up", I would be so happy.

I'm gonna pitch a calm rational fit. I'm pissed but not stupid. I will certainly be bringing up that the guy outright lied to me when he was under the truck trying to find the crushed line and said "I know it's here, ------ pointed it out to me. I saw it."

The problem is they do a lot of work with the place my mom works at, and do a great deal of it for free. Kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place here.

Sorry if I implied something, I certainly didn't mean to. I was thinking that the timeframe might mean you were getting some sort of 'hookup'. That whole crushed line episode is disconcerting and would make me pretty skeptical about their motives as well.

I had something similar happen to me with my exhaust and headers...I ain't got a problem naming the SOB's either G&S Mufflers on 41 in Kennesaw.

They ordered and installed my headers...took off the old set-up and junked it. This was a Sat, said they'd work on it all day Sat and be finished Monday lunchtime. Monday morning, get a call from "manager" saying there's a problem with the set-up and they can't fix it. I said re-install old and I'll pay for time and reasonable amt of parts (and keep headers). He panicked and said he junked the old, but he'll order the right ones and fix it at cost.....whos' cost A@#hole you ordered the first set! "No you ordered them and we went along with your wishes to not get a new CAT!"
I said get the Bronco legal (no-cat...no emissions needed :toothless ) with exhaust and I'll get it. Got down there the price was no where near what I was quoted and authorized.....he said "labor" I said itemize it! He "can't cause it ain't a legal set-up." As I get in the truck...a piece of my fan shroud is broken off and sitting in the seat! When I go back in ...."it was already broken and we can get you a new one from the Ford place" Got pretty ugly in the end....****er got invloved and resolved some of the stuff. Still would'nt go back or refer!
DO go in there when it's busy and don't let them put you in a room to get you out of view of the other customers and wait until the owner comes to you in front of the other people and say something like are you the one who's going to fix my truck right this time...calm and rational of course.

(sorry for pseudo-hijack)

If talking to the owner doesnt help call the district manager. They will take care of it and if not call the regional and so on and so fourth. I used to have a ford ranger that needed an engine overhaul, one of the cylinders wasnt firing, quoted me at 900 told them to do it, and then got a bill for like 3 grand for tranny, engine, and a bunch of electrical shit they found. Well after talking to three different managers aboout them not telling me they were doing the work, they tried to blow me off. Well called reginal in Atlanta I think and after 3 days of investigation I ended up paying 500 for parts and wasnt charged labor, and had a rebuilt tranny, motor, and redone elctrical to my little tuck worked out well i might add too.

Every year I swap to my studded winter tires mid-November. Several years ago, I take the Old Grey Lady to Lakeside Auto. Ron, the owner, has Travis, the "mechanic", do the swap. He forgets to tighten the right front lug nuts. A week or so later while driving her to Aurora, MO, the wheel comes off on an S-curve and I have to fight like hell to keep her on the highway.

A fella right behind me takes me into Aurora and I arrange for towing back to Shell Knob. I drop it off at Lakeside and tell Ron, "You owe me." He pays the $60 towing bill and I leave it for him to fix - new rim, check the axel, hub, etc.

After a week and a half, I call to see if it's done. Pat, Ron's wife, tells me it is. They were just waiting for me to pick it up. WTF - they never called to tell me it was done!!! Get down there and get a bill for $300+ which INCLUDED THE TOWING! I paid it.

After that I turned into there worst advertising nightmare. This summer, they went broke!!!! :D

Went by today and talked to the General manager....told him the whole story and got it worked out. I already had a tow truck and another shop lined up to take it away, and i told him that. The only thing I wanted was some assurance that their work would still be gauranteed if I did it.

Well after telling him the story, he got on the phone with Gaines (the guy I had the "discussion" with). They got to talking about why the truck was there so long, and what was going on. At one point I heard him say "Well you shouldn't have" in a rather stern voice. Turns out Gaines admitted he lost his temper, and owned up to it right away.

The GM said from that point on he'll be taking care of the ticket. He dropped $125 off the price for my trouble, and said he'd look at the ticket when he got over there to see if there was anything else he could do. He said he'd just "cut Gaines out of it", and he and another person would "take care of Gaines" when he got back to that shop. He was not pleased.

He thanked me for coming in and said that he wished more people would because it's the only way he'll hear about it.

Now that all the facts are in, it was Ed Murdoch Ford in Lavonia.

As far as Ford trucks go they have one of the best mechanics in the area. Just the few minutes I talked to him before let me know he knows his stuff, and he won't half-ass a job. Even the GM said they would take it over to that location (Hartwell) to fix it if I felt better about it, but I already had their best guy on it.
