View Full Version : Tampa newspaper columnist has balls!!
Ragged_ol_86 10-03-2005, 08:36 PM I got this as an email. I dont know the editors name or the paper but this was published:
Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????
Think about it . .
All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all!
This is an editorial written by an
American citizen, published in a
Tampa newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,
we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against ! anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a
multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and! our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,
on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools. If God
offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or
you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We
are happy with our culture and have
no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where
you came from. This is
OUR COUNTRY,
our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his opinion and we
will allow you every opportunity! to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our
way of life, I highly encourage you
take advantage of one other great American freedom,
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
It is Time for America to Speak up
Josh
Nemesis 10-03-2005, 11:39 PM I totally aggree with what that person has to say. Sure if you want a better life here come and get it. Don't exspect us to Change to suit what the Politicly correct crowd want. If they don't like it they can take it or Leave it.
What totally caught me off guard was in the wake of Hurracain Katrina was Mexico was the first Country I have seen "EVER" to send "US" the U.S.A. Some National Aid after all the years of us giving aid to the rest of the world. It is nice to see that there are countries out there that still care and are willing to help us out when we needed it. We may be the last super power on earth. However that doesn't mean we don't need outside help from time to time.
GA PRIDE 4EVR! 10-04-2005, 01:03 AM finally someone said it! thank god i'm not the only one who thinks that. I think its a good thing to know spanish because you never know when your gonna need it but seriously if i live in america i shouldn't have to learn it just so the people we are letting use our land don't have to. we let them come here and stay. the least they can do is learn our language. but thats my soap box. i'm just glad to see that someone has finally wrote a letter like that and it got published. not only do i applaud the person who wrote it but also the person who had the guts to say hey i'm going to publish this in our public newspaper.
malkavian 10-04-2005, 09:55 AM amen brother...
mike.norton53 10-05-2005, 11:25 AM i'm glad to see people standing up for this sort of stuff. i get sick to my stomach every time i hear someone talk $hit about how this country was founded. nd then all the liberal retards taking our rights away from us, out of the constitution. sometimes it sucks cause everyday me and thousands of others risk our lives to protect those rights, and some people dont like those rights so they tke them from everyone else. i've noticed alot of censorship on everything these days. we can no longer bear arms hardly. i remember when they took out of schools the pledge of alligiance and prayer, all because of "God". i'm not religious, but i do believe in some sort of higher power. and it gives hope to alot of others. but anyways, i better stop ranting.....glad to hear people stand up for this.

This is actually an old article, has been sent around in chain email several times. There are many good points to be made in it as well. However, this country was not founded on religion, it was founded on common law. Care to tell me one single right you have lost because of a liberal? I haven't lost any. I do see my rights deteriorating (however still not lost) before my very eyes under this mock "conservative" gov't. I for one appreciate the work you do for this country, and personally apologize for what I believe is pure abuse of your patriotism by our gov't. You can thank the social conservatives for censorship... Its those pesky liberals that fight the fight for your freedom of speech, and freedom of expression. You say we can no longer bear arms hardly... would you please explain what you mean? I have no problem purchasing firearms? The took "school sponsored" Pledge of Allegiance / prayer out of school, but students still have the right to say the Pledge or pray if they so wish. I agree with you that its BS though, and we can thank the liberals for that one. The minority of students who DON'T want to say it, equally have the right NOT to. I am a Christian, not a "religious" person, but a spiritual person, who believes in Christ. I believe we need less "liberal / conservative" division, and more moderate Unity in this country. I appreciate your comments, and I hope you don't take this in a personal or offensive way, that was not my intent. :beer
PS. Stay safe over there brother! Our prayers are with you.
87EBBronco 10-05-2005, 02:59 PM I agree with Jah that this has been around but I'm glad to see it come back. BTW the Tampa paper this was published in was the Tampa Tribune, I remember seeing the original in the paper. No I did NOT write it but would love to shake the hand of the person who did. MN53 you sound like my son, he's agnostic, which basically means he beleives in some higher power cause he sure hopes the idiots down here arent running things.
SouthFloridaBronco85 10-05-2005, 05:04 PM Not that I am against the sentiment of the article, but my family didn't speak "our" language when they came here, some form Spain, some from Finland. And to the best of my knowledge, even though the majority of us speak english, we don't even have an official national language..... (commence the flaming).
On to the religion part. Yes we were founded by protestant christians... who left europe because they were being persecuted for being just that. We have here what few nations have and that is the freedom to worship however we like, and to NOT have anyone elses beliefs pushed on us. Unfortunatly some people take that to extremes and go all ape s**t whenever they see the word god. And to those who think they are "wrong" for being offended by the word god, I bet you'd cause just as big a stink if it were changed to "In jehova/allah/buddah/satan/insert diety here we trust" .
I guess I find it funny that for a nation built on tolerance, we are so damned intolerant. jehova/allah/buddah/satan/god/jesus/moses bless america!!!:usa

I am glad that somebody had the nuts to at least say what was on their mind without concern for the PC, thin-skinned weiners out there who cry when someone calls them fat or ugly.
Jah, I agree whole heartedly with you. I too am not "religious" but i do have my beliefs, and for a brief moment, right after 9/11, we DID have the moderate unity that this country so greatly needs. then everybody remembered their affiliation and went back to slinging shit
Blaze 10-05-2005, 09:18 PM Can I get a "Hell Yeah!" up in here??? :rockon
nbaff 10-06-2005, 12:29 AM PC bothers the shit out of me. There are just too many times you can't said what needs to be said because of what is PC and what is not.
tagto138 10-06-2005, 04:49 AM I saw the sam thing a few years back. I think it originally saw it when that female in Florida was fitting to get her drivers liscnse photo taken with her burka on.
I am currently overseas with the Navy and see to much of how politcal correctness has changed many things in my life.
From my kids not being able to celebrate halloween(it's pagan),but most people have no clue what it really means and how it got started. Its supposed to be fun for kids. Christmas is going away slowly.
Easter is next.
From my point of view I have to speak 5 languages in the navy just too talk to people normally(I don't) because you have to respect other peoples cultural differences. A lont time aviation term the cockpit has too be called a flight station. so on and so on.
Maybe i'm just getting to old but i see a lot of intolerance on many's people's part to the USA's and her CITIZENS belliefs while many CITIZENS of the US have bent over backwards for people not only in our own country but in the ones a lot of people have com from.
just my own un-understandable 2 cents
mike.norton53 10-06-2005, 09:02 AM i take no offense to what you stated Jah. I know I used the wrong wording in my post, please forgive me on that. However, any deterioration in our rights is unacceptable IMO. I don't know alot about politics, but I know how to fight wars. I do not blame politics themselves for war, I actually think we should be here kicking a$$. I am sort of agnostic, but it's just confusing with all the religions in the world. How could every one of them be right? I was raised in a Southern Baptist church, but now I don't know who is right and who isn't.
I notice in the Army how many different cultures are in it. Alot of soldiers speak spanish. I do not. I have no problem with them tlking in their native language off duty, but on duty I think it is only right to speak American, since you wear the uniform of the American Army.
But, what do I really know? I'm just a 20 year old in a desert 9,000 miles from home.
Thanks for y'alls support and prayers, it's greatly appriciated.

SFB85 You state that your family didn't speak english when they came here, neither did mine (long before my garandparents were born) but they took the time to learn it. That is the important part. When I was in Germay I at least had the respect for their culture to TRY to learn the language. Sure I got laghed at a lot for FUBARing it but the Germans realized that I was at least trying and that made a big difference.
When it comes to religion, I remember saying the pledge of allegience in school and being told if you don't feel comfortable saying under God leave it out. When I joined the AF, part of th oath of enlistment refers to God and we were allowed to leave that out if we so felt. I agree that this has been taken to extremes and some tolerance needs to be brought back.
BTW to be completely PC you forgot goddess bless america :toothless :usa

MN32 IMHO I don't think any of the religions are right. I also don't think any of them are wrong. I think they all have some truth to them, but we have to remember, religion was created by man therefore will have some bias in it. In the words of Jeff Foxworhty "Y'all hop in the truck, we're headin' up to the big house"
