So ive been having NOTHING but trouble from the crappy original 4180 carburetor. All the rebuilding and tooling has done nothing to correct the crappy idle, lack of power, bogging down, float levels, and gas leaks.
Now I go to Canadian Tire nearly every day for nearly everything, and ive always collected the dollars. So today I went there to check on what the price on an Edelbrock 1405 would be. Listed at $359.99 so I told him to order it. Went home and checked to see how much Canadian Tire money I had in my various hiding places. All together, I have a little over a hundred bucks.
Cheapest carb I could ever have gotten! Dont throw out those coupons!!!!

just be fore warned,
the cashier gets a little pissy when it comes time to count it all out
(especially when they count it up wrong and you make them re-count it.... twice).
best to go to the customer service counter to pay,
then they can count it out and you aren't holding up the lines (amazing how grumpy people will get behind you for this).
i once went in to get a welder (on a boxing day sale),
payed for it with my canadian tire money (mostly 10cent & 25cent bills)
needless to say,
i was there for awhile!

Way to go Matt
You're going to love the Edelbrock. They're basically an improved upon Carter AVS, which is what us Mopar 340 types used, before Thermoquads.
Much easier to tune than a Holley, equal performance and much, much better on gas mileage.
Good advice on the service counter dragon. Unless Matt wants to be a prick. I walked into the Kentucky Fried Rat in Lindsay Ontario, many years ago on a Saturday night. The special was a 15 piece bucket for $8.50.
I wait my turn in line and she says" what will you have sir ?" I said " 10 buckets please". She's says" that will be $85.00 sir". I slapped two 50s on the counter and said "start cookin!":histerica . Everyone behind me groaned and left.
Hadta feed the boys back at the Motel, grey cup weekend and all.

p.s./
The only thing that gets my goat is when some woman decides to update her bankbook in the insta-teller machine on a busy Friday afternoon. One farmer tore it out of the machine on a lady and told her to come back when there wasn't a line up out the door. The whole line up cheered him !

I kept it pretty easy on the old gal in customer service. I divided up all the bills in their respective demoninations, and put them in individual envelopes with the amount written on the outside.
Still, she had to count it all.
