juGGernaut 12-01-2005, 09:39 PM ok i tryed googling, but no luck, i am trying to find some place that sells stainless steel, like sheets, bars, an dso on to fabricate some stuff, any 1 have know if home depot does, i highly doubt it, i guess i will just have to drive an hour from here and see waht i can find, damn!:banghead
Chuck 12-01-2005, 11:23 PM Jugg -- BMG (http://www.bmgmetals.com/) sells stainless, too. Like I said, good excuse to grab a little utility trailer and make a one-afternoon road trip. They can also get you aluminum shapes, not to mention just about anything else you'd need. :twotu:
Stringer142 12-01-2005, 11:28 PM I know lowes sells diamond plate sheets and other metal sheets, but Im not sure about stainless steel, only thing is there metal sheets of any type are very expensive. A 12"x24" sheet of diamond plate aluminum is $30
Bronco Rob 12-02-2005, 01:58 AM Jugg....look up a local steel supply shop in the yellowpages and start making phone calls.....if they don't have it, they will point you to someone who does.
But be prepared, there are alot of different series of stainless steel. 316, 416, 308 are just a few, it all depends on what you are going to do with the stainless in order to figure out which kind you need.
There are a couple local shops i use for work, but your in NC and i am in Ohio, don't know if they would do you much good.
EDIT: What size bars do you need? I can get you 316 or 416 stainless bars up to about an inch, i'll just pull them out of the scrap dumpster at work, you have to give me some dimensions though.
SSgtTEX 12-02-2005, 08:12 AM like how big of pieces are we talking...smaller ones i should be able to get my hands on. just a few though. It is what we call scrap. it is perfectly good metal, just left over from cuts. i should be able to get a few. but they are all about 1'x1' at most.
if that is fine ill see what i can come up with and it is yours for shipping.
juGGernaut 12-02-2005, 03:58 PM well i am lookin for about 8ft long 1/2"thick 2" wide stainless bar, trying to make a custom light bar
Bronco Rob 12-03-2005, 12:41 AM just so you know, thats flattstock, not considered a "bar". Our stainless bars are as big as 2 inches....but their round.
The stock you are talking about would be VERY heavy for a lightbar....you should consider aluminum, easier to find and cheaper.
juGGernaut 12-04-2005, 10:09 AM ok, thank you for enlightening me, this would be my first time doing anything like this.
12husky 12-31-2005, 03:04 PM If you are still looking for stainless, I use pennstainless.com for almost all of my stock at work. I'm in MD so PA isn't far, but with the shipping its still cheaper than any place I can find locally.
Dustball 12-31-2005, 05:41 PM well i am lookin for about 8ft long 1/2"thick 2" wide stainless bar, trying to make a custom light bar
FYI, you're looking at an $100+ price for what you want in stainless.
bluesquirrel 01-08-2006, 03:31 PM I have stainless steel sheets 1/16th and 1/8th thick, both 347 and 304, but I'm in Richmond CA
