i just picked up an old F100 roll bar for 25 bucks and i was wondering if it will fit in my 78 bronco. i think it should fit except that it bubles out to the side about half way up, it was made to go right along the truck bed and then once it was higher than the bed it went out diagonaly so that it was a little wider than the cab of the F100. does anyone know if it will fit? or how to fabricate it so that it will fit?

ok i put it up to my spare shell and its going to stick out about 2 inches on each side. is there any way that i could cut it and re weld pipes on? or any fabrications you can think of to make it fit?

Your getting closer to knowing for sure..... next step is to put it in your bronco and see.

You know an F-100 rollbar probably won't do much for you in the case of an actual roll over. An F-100 is a ton lighter (maybe literally) than these Broncos.

The deal was great, but i would just assume that it is a cosmetic mod.

Like a Bronco roll bar would be effective? They're all cosmetic at the bolt in, got it from Autozone (or Ford) level.

alright well i got my bronco home, i just havent tried the roll bar yet. and yes its merely cosmetic, its going to hold a couple lights that are goona be upsideown and facing backwards so that when i take my shell off i can turn them on and have some light behind me. but i think im going to take a couple inches out of the center of the top bar and then re weld it together to make it less wide. and i will possibly cut the back supports and re angle them so that i can have the front of the roll bar lined up so that its right where the shell and roof meet, witch will put the roll bar right over top of the back seat, and i think that it will actualy save a life if it were to roll over without the shell on with passangers, it will be safer than having an open top and it falling on their heads.

I don't think it will save anyone. It might look cool and hold some lights, which is it's intended purpose, but it won't save anyone...
