Here's another done on TTB, I know the author personally :) http://www.off-road.com/ford/bigbroncos/tech/balljoint.html BadassBronco 03-13-2003, 07:50 AM What's included in the 10% that's different? The truck seems to drive OK but I like to fix problems before they go really bad. Tim TTBlows 03-13-2003, 11:50 PM What is a good test for bad ball joints? Have a 2nd person watch the ball joints for movement. If they're not so bad you'll have to jack it up and grab at 6 and 12. Make sure your helper knows the difference between loose wheel bearings and bad ball joints - both will allow the same type of movement but it's WHERE the movement is occurring that's significant. If its' lifted with 33's+ and you actually 'wheel the truck frequently, and your ball joints are more than 18 months old you can bet they're bad. If it's stock and they're more than a couple years old, you can bet they're bad. Get the best money can buy (Moog or TRW), the cheap one's don't pay despite the allure of "lifetime warranties." Expect around $100 total for uppers and lowers, both sides. tim330i 03-14-2003, 02:39 AM Thanks!!! Adding those to my never ending shopping list :( Tim allcruisen 03-15-2003, 12:37 AM quote="Keith_L"What is a good test for bad ball joints? Tim QUOTE: Get the best money can buy (Moog or TRW), the cheap one's don't pay despite the allure of "lifetime warranties." Although they look the same on the outside and will work on your truck, they are very much different on the inside. ie the MOOG balljoint has a bigger and stronger ball and socket as well as the TRW. If you change theses balljoints even once, you will now how much of a PITA it is to do, so even though they say lifetime warranty on the box, how many times do you wanna go back and forth taking your cheap busted out balljoints back? My .02 Allcruisen :pimp :pimp :pimp P.S. I believe that Moog or TRW are now giving lifetime warranty on most their suspension parts, I can always verify if that is a fact if need be. gators0204 03-17-2003, 01:16 AM informative. I'll be changing mine in the coming weeks. EvilBronc 06-20-2003, 01:57 AM http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/index.php?vID=1549 |
