Due to financial woes (for those who do not know I am military at a remote post with a wife and three kids, by the way, the "house" just approved a new pay raise....for them) I am currently sitting in front of my computer instead of drinking free beer at Sodsy's beer garden in Goldendale. I was told I had a place to crash, they were BBQing tonight, free beer and a way into the rock crawling event...yet here I sit. slight buzz and majorly pissed off...if only it had been next month. Always a day late and a dollar short...:(

I know the feeling seems like around a military base they would plan things close to our paydays but they always seem to be right before we get paid.

I took the first class exam for the first time this week. maybe ill get lucky, but odds are ill be taking it again in march.

Where I am now, Yakima Training Center, all we have is an Oasis (bar) and a small shoppette (like a little 7/11 with no gas pumps). When you are used to living on a post with housing, a hospital, schools, PX, Commisary etc. it sucks...I am paying $1100 a month just for day care...and my BAH doesn't even come close to covering my rent.

That is CRAZY 1100 for day care ?? I hate Norfolk, but at least i can afford to live here. Im still braoke but damn, it aint that bad.

you should try being stationed in focking alaska. the 4 main installations that i have visited have bx/px, commissary, etc. but it's still damn hard to save money b/t pay periods. everything is expensive around here!!!!

I'm up at Eielson AFB. Yup, its expensive living in Alaska and it sucks to have parts shipped up here, cost a lot more and takes forever.

i'm at ft. sill, ok. home of the field artillery. things aren't too bad money wise, but living here sure sucks.
