I was in Nevada last weekend, and I found a great off-road trail. It started off as a dirt road, but slowly deteriorated over the course of about 3 miles. When it finally broke down to an iffy quad trail, I decided enough was enough and turned around.
This trail had everything - passages between trees tight enough to push the mirrors back, part of the road was washed out (massive articulation - had to put it in low range and granny to go slow enough, body creaking like mad the whole time), even a couple of inches of mud from recent rains. The trail at one point sloped so steeply that stuff was falling off the dash onto the floor.
I made it in and out in about two hours, and I don't think the truck so much as lost it's footing once.
The interesting part was that I found out later on in the day that my 4x4 wasn't working.
If I had gotten stuck, it would have been a long walk out.
Long live the Bronco!
