Well, since you asked...NTB cross threaded a lug nut onto one of my rear wheels. Of course I found it when I was trying to change a flat and couldn't get the wheel off. Hours later I'm yelling at them for f'ing my $hit up and they eventually agree to replace the ruined stud for free. Two day later I'm driving and start to hear a terrible sound out of that same brake drum. Somehow the morons changed out the wheel stud, but then left it inside of the brake drum. It took a couple of days for it to work it's way to the bottom of the brake drum, where it lodged itself between the pads and started turning a deep groove in the drum, kind of like a lathe from hell. The store manager refused to replace the drum, he wanted to turn it. I had to yell at the district manager before they agreed to pay to have my brakes fixed. I say pay to have them fixed because there was no way in hell I was going to allow them to do the work. Needless to say I'll never do business with them again, and would encourage all of you to stay away too. Don't forget, NTB is owned by Sears, who has a long and sad history of automotive service. I agree with you whole heartedly Gacknar, they suck.

I will tell my story in stages.

In 1996, I once had to teach on of there techs what a camber bushing was.

He couldn't figure out why the Bronco's camber was off, or how to fix it.

It was stock then.

In 1999, they told me they couldnt alighn the Bronco becouse it neded new radiouse arm bushings. They where new energy suspension units I put in that morning. The tech got really upset when I explained that to them. He then claimed somone else who was off duty started the alighnment, left, and told him it couldn't be alighned.

In 2000 my mom calls me at work panicked.

It seems that she jus bought tires from NTB.

She made it 3 blocks, and the back drivers side wheel falls off the thunderbird.
They towed it back to the shop

I show up and the tech who mounted the tires gets in my face wanting to know who I am and why i care that he tire fell off.

I told them i was her son.
they ended up puting the T-bird in the shop to fix the bent up fender and got us a new rental car for ouwr truble.

But never once did anyone actualy appologize.

In in 2003, they tried to alighn the Bronco after the lift. The gentleman who did it tore the leather off the steering wheel trying to turn the wheel wile the truck was off on the alighnment rack. He said it was like that when he started. :bs

And he still didn't get the alighnment right.

Last summer I emptied the waist oil out of my 55 gallon drum in my garage. It was damned near full after a couple years. Took several weeks to get enough containers, I borrowed probably 6-5 gallon containers from my neighbors restaurant and collected milk jugs from friends. Then my dad and I completely emptied the 55 gallon drum and loaded all the containers in the back of the Bronco. We drove around town to jiffy lube and such giving them each a couple gallons because they all had a limit. Well after 3 or 4 stops we found NTB. I went inside and said do you take waist oil and the guy was like yeah set it around the corner by the back door. Well you know nobody followed us out there so we unloaded the 6-5 gallon buckets and probably 10-12 1 gallon milk jugs and lined them up by the door. I'd tend to guess somebody shit their pants when they found that.

We dropped the car off at 9:00am.
We called them at 12:00, they hadn’t gotten to it yet, but they would have it done by noon.
We called them at 3:00pm, they still hadn’t gotten to it but it would be done by 6:00pm.
We showed up at 6:00pm, the car hadn’t even been pulled in yet. They told us there power had been out all day.

This Saturday, I dropped Mr. Ranger off to have an alighnment done.
Called them at 5:00pm to ask them if I could pick it up. They hadn't done it yet. I asked them if it would be done by noon Sunday, they said absolutly. I show up today at 1:00pm it’s not done. The first story I get is they just havn’t gotten to it yet. I make a coment about it being there for 24 hours. It was then explained to me that all 3 of there “Hunter laser alighnment racks” are broken, and that why they havn’t done it yet.

I have been to NTB three times in my life:

1st time-- got a couple of BFG's for an '82 Mustang. No problems. In and out. Good service.
2nd time-- took my Harley F150 in to get a wheel balanced. I was watching closely through the window as the idiot proceeded to scratch and dent the edge of my rim. After going ten rounds with the manager, they ended up footing the bill for a new rim ($1200)
3rd time-- Looking for new tires for my F250. The guy at the register told me that no one makes a 33" mud tire with an "E" load rating. I told him what tire I specifically wanted and he told me it didn't exist (I later found out that they don't sell Nitto's, why couldn't he just tell me that instead of acting like I was the stupid one?)

NTB can suck my balls.

Never dealt with NTB and won't now. I have dealt with Tire Kingdom though, part of TCB (NTB's new parent company), once. Mpacked the bead of the bronco tire with sand and it was losing air, not having a compressor I was forced to take it somewhere to get it cleand and re-seated. Went to TK and all they did was fill it and say here you go. I told them it was still leaking and the told me it wasn't. I took the soap solution and proved it was, their response, its a slow leak just check it regularly. They refused to do the job right. I then took tire across the street, without any payment to them for doing nothing, and got the job done right. Won't go back to TK.

i went in to see if they sold interco tires. or if they could get BFG muds for my old truck(dakota). the first guy told me the tire size i had on the truck (the stock tires) didn't exist. then he told me that no interco tire made was road legal(this was after conferring with the guy in the back working the balancer). lastly he could sell me a BFG all terrain fir a 15 inch wheel and it would definitely fit. when i reminded him that i had 16s on the truck (third time) he looked surprised, typed some more, and decided that they didn't sell a tire that would fit on my truck.

i never had any problems at ntb... they said it was hard to align my truck b/c the damn bfgs have that stupid wheel lip protector thing around the rim...but they got the job done... my biggest problem that day was walking across the parking lot to go to toys'r'us to look around... that was fun but they had these gumball machines with gumballs that were the size of baseballs... i got one of those and tried to eat about half of it... i drooled on myself

I apparently had good luck with NTB. I took my car in last November to get a set of Goodyear Assurance's for my Optima. They were a little backed up but they managed to do it in about 2 1/2 hrs out the door. The tech who put on my tires was a real cool guy and seemed to know his shit. I even got him to balance the tires so I didnt have a big ugly weight on the outside of my rims. The only complaint I have is I wanted a full road hazard warranty and I told the salesman, but apparently he forgot to put it on my bill. I had to go in to get a screw pulled out of one of my tires several weeks later and found out then that I did not get the warranty. The salesman was cool about it and he sold me the full road hazard at an employee discount. Im happy and I think Id still go back. I guess it depends on the place....

I know someone told them off while I was there though. Apparently, there was a couple there that bought some tires for their car long ago and got a flat. Well I guess they had bought the cheapest tire available (some Sears brand) when it was still under Sears' ownership. As it turns out, the warranty wasnt even good anyhow (way over the 35K warranty) but the people still demanded a refund on all 4 tires. Some people are truly stupid.

Now Sears, on the other hand, can go fukk off. I got sick of the shitty and slow service, the rude employees that dont know shit, and their shitty batteries. I gave them the benefit of the doubt a few times but got screwed every time.

Not NTB, Discount tire. My dad and I had a flat on my dad's car, we took it to discount just to have it plugged. The kid, 18ish?, removes the tire from the rim, plugs the hole, Puts the tire back on the rim, sticks it on the balancer, Adds a weight, runs the balancer again
Adds another weight, Runs the balancer...
Adds a weight,
Runs the balancer,
ADDS a weight,
At this point my dad walks up to the counter and tells the guy, "Hey that kid is balancing the tire wrong." The guy behind the counter "No, he's doing fine."
My dad "Can you just go check on him?" The guy watches for a minute then goes into the shop.

Yeah, the kid never removed the old weight before trying to balance the tire. He stripped off seven weights, started over, and it balanced with 1.5oz.

Discount tire in Witchita falls texas is a great store... They warrantied a tire for me last week. I did'nt buy them from them, Heck I did'nt even buy the tires, they came with the car... The local Firestone store here in OKC wanted 25.00bucks just to fix a flat, So I plugged it. Drove to Texas and it de-lamenated. I went in to buy a tire, they swapped a new one on at no charge... I gaurantee next time I need tires, I'm driving to Texas to buy them... Fog

Tire rack is about the best Ive found so far. The tires are usually priced WELL below any tire shop around this dump of a city. Ive personally never used them but a friend of mine swears by them. The last time he bought tires for his truck, he paid almost $55 less pre tire than any shop around here. Its only about an hour & fifteen minutes from my house, and it only takes them about the same time to replace all the tires.

Discount Tire is my new favorite tire store. They have treated me AWESOME everytime I've gone there. I have bought 2 sets of tires from them.

Every time I have gone there to have them rebalanced on the road variation machine (wich I payed $100.00 extra per set for) they have given me chit and tried to talk me out of having them balanced on that machine.

I only bought the tires from them becouse they have that balancer.

When I bought my sapers I took them there to have them balanced. After I called the manager on his B.S. he agreed to balance them for $200.00 but he told me they wouldnt be right becoue a tire that big cant be balanced.

An old man at an off road shop up the road balnced them for $60.00, and they ride smooth to 80 :thumbup

Weird. Sounds like that store is full of idiots.

The one here swapped out a tire for me (I brought them the rim and tires) and they did it for $10 and gave me, for free, the lugs to hold the rim on my tire carrier. All of my experiences with them (at this location) have been just like that.

Now though, I just change my own tires and balance them.

Way back in '99, I took my '94 F-150 to ntb for four new 235/75/15 Goodyear wrangler apt's. when I picked up the truck I noticed it was sitting crooked. This was because they mounted three 235/75's and one 31/10.50. The manager stated that the tech wasn't at fault because he doesn't pull the tires from stock, he just mounts them. That's bs. If I pulled that at work I'd get my ass chewed right there in the shop. The manager then went on to say that he was the one who pulled the tires. I informed him that he was retarded and should wear a sign to warn others of his retardedness.

Firestone is right at the same level as ntb. First, tech school wonder boy tried to lift my Ex by placing the lift arms on my torsion bars. I explained to him that that "ain't kewl" by way of profanity. He agreed to try another way of lifting the truck. He scratched and nicked the rims and peeled the clear off the bead. When I questioned the manager about this he said the rims were already damaged when I dropped the truck off. He then stated that their tire machine couldn't cause that sort of damage. Total bs. A rim clamp tire changing machine can do just as much damage as any other. Oh, well, at least he was kind enough to tell me I'm dumb. Gosh! What a gift! I can't even imagine where I might be today if he hadn't stopped and taken the time to tell me.

I don't think I'd even let them toss my salad, much less suck my ding dong
