PC Based Avatar Tutorials...
Maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller).

Saving an image to your PC
1. Right click on the image and choose SAVE PICTURE AS.
2. This opens a box called SAVE PICTURE.
3. Click the drop down box next to SAVE IN: and choose DESKTOP. You should now have a .GIF or .JPG file on your Desktop.

Load from your PC
1. Go to the top of the FSB page and click on User CP and then Edit Avatar to get into your customize Avatar page for FSB.
2. Select "Do not use an avatar" and Save Changes to remove ANY Avatar you may currently have. (Not necessary to replace an Avatar.)
3. You may upload a new custom image. Either enter the URL to the image you wish to use, or use the upload control to upload an image directly from your own computer.
..3a. Enter Avatar URL: Copy an Paste an image address to use an avatar online.
..3b. Upload an Avatar From Your Computer: Click the BROWSE button to the right.
.......This opens a CHOOSE FILE window. Click the drop down box next to LOOK IN: and BROWSE for the file on your PC.
.......Once you find it, click on it to highlight it and click OPEN button when you see the file name in the FILENAME box.
.......Now at the bottom of the screen, click on the SAVE CHANGES button.
(If you saved this file from somewhere and no longer need it, feel free to delete the saved file once it's uploaded to the site.)

OK heres a computer illeterate question... how do you resize pics... didnt seem like I could in properties and couldnt find it anywhere else either!!

yup, I got that too :thumbup .. found it a coupla years ago as well .. it does batch conversions too!! ... meaning you can highlight like 20 pictures (whatever amount) and do them all at the same time :beer

Perfect when your camera setting gets all out of wack by accident and you have 1680x2400 <-- or whatever it is ........ pictures that are just not web friendly :p

:brownbag ok...i got my personal profile pic to get in there, but when i try and get the avatar to work. and i did have it at 100 by 75 pixels, the damn thing wont stick...somethin about 10000 mb or kb or somethin like that...sheesh

Pepe - I need your expertise. I downloaded Irfan and it works great resizing my pics. However, when I open a jpg from my pics on the Irfan viewer, it's changed into a bitmap image that cannot be used as an avatar. . . please help!

johnski: Hey bud... after you resize the image to 100x100 (or smaller) then use the FILE > SAVE AS function to save the file. This will give you all the available saving options and allow you to specify the format you want to save in (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc).

the download is nice and I have XP. I do have a problem though. I can't figure out how to reduce it to less than 10 kb. I can resize it to 100 x 75 but it always ends up in the 17 - 18 kb range. What am i missing?

Here's 100x75 @ 8k.. image edited (colors/contrast/etc) to look pretty and all.. even though you cant really tell at 100x75.. the image does look a lot clearer than stock. :thumbup I could've gone smaller with the size.. but I struck a comprimise between the size limit, and image clarity.

I'm an image editing junkie. :D I used Photoshop7.. easy to do, and I have no problems doing it again for you or anybody else if need be.
