my schedule's pretty much free 'cause i'm lucky enough not to have to work on weekends
drexelsteve 09-15-2003, 10:09 PM vermont's a hike, gotta be at least 7 hours. If you're comfortable ridin that far, whompin on your rig, n drivin it home all in one weekend then hell yeah. always nice to have anonther 78/9 along:thumbup

Kallure 09-15-2003, 11:43 PM can web bring the XBox camping? :toothless
gators0204 09-16-2003, 12:08 AM Im down for that. Just need agood amount of time, its acting alittle funny. I wanna test out the new little 2 1/2" lift I out on:toothless
I just have some rad drop down bracket extensions to put on. Little weird looking though.
Not gonna do anything hard, its already falling apart on its own, and since its my DD. Cant keep spending money on repairs when I have an deticated 4wheeler sitting in front of my place that needs some action.
bigflareside 09-16-2003, 01:04 AM I think my self and some friends are supose to be going the end of October.....for the weekend

Don't knock it 'til you try it:thumbup
Mid to late October would be best for me. I still have to patch the floor, get a tank skid plate, pinion flange, fan shroud, d/s side window, and windshield. I'm hoping the 84 I'm picking up next week has a skid plate I can steal until I get a more heavy duty one.
I should have all but the w/s done by then.
Accessory Man 09-16-2003, 01:24 PM I want to go, but I don't know my shcedule or money yet, the new job should be starting then, as well as the unemployment checks, but I have to make up for this three week break with no income. Prolly not in time for this trip, but it looks like I am going in for a fourth of a cabin in the woods near Hazelton too, so I wont be sleeping on the ground anymore:D
And maybe I can convince a few wimmen to come up as a result next spring

i'm so not going anywhere near a cabin for quite some time .. on a whim we saw cabin fever this weekend ... and the movie was insane .... but halfway decent :thumbup
i definitely want to come along but I'm supposed to be in Cleveland (anybody know anything GOOD in Cleveland to pass the time?) the week of October 20-24th ... which means flights out and back home to Philly may fall over the weekends .........
though i'm pretty sure we're trying to get a flight home on Friday night which would make the 25-26th open ...... steve's my ride to and from the airport though ..... so i'm sure i could get in early in the evening and we could head right up to camp ....

Where in VT are you. Just to give you an idea when I drove from Philly to visit my bother in St ALbans it was just over 6.5 hours. Paragon is about two hourd northwest of Philly.
bnkrtstk 09-16-2003, 05:17 PM Hey Kristy the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland.

That's on my list! The only thing though .... I'll be there four or five nights, so I'm gonna have to do some exploring
What sucks is no car ... all the training facilities are in walking distance from the hotel or have a shuttle, so work won't justify a rental car .... sucks! :cry
reptillikus 09-16-2003, 09:15 PM Im down for a ride in October!
I have to finish my rock sliders, finish my rear bumper, design & build a beefier skidplate for the gas tank, and install the tranny cooler that's sitting a box next to my computer, but other than that, im ready to go!:thumbup
Oh, and BroncoEddie....i recognize both of those spots! That first one was the rock that dealt the first bit of body damage to my truck!
And that second hole.....i watched a blazer, (locked R) on 35"s get stuck in there, and then watched a 3/4 ton burban on 38" swampers (welded R, locked F) blow an axleshaft up front trying to extract him!
So dont feel to bad about that hole, ok?:thumbup
Leonard 09-16-2003, 10:58 PM i think i could swing a day trip. got the truck back togather last weekend 'cept the front driveshaft. who knows if my dad gets his tires he may bring the 250 he pick up not to long ago.
reptillikus 09-21-2003, 09:08 PM So then how's the 27-8th sound?
Leonard 09-23-2003, 12:58 AM of what. me and my dad may be heading up next weekend i think. if anybodys up for it.
Kallure 09-23-2003, 10:03 AM i think we're supposed to be going to the monsters on the beach thing this coming up weekend ... not too sure ....
Jaxboro 09-23-2003, 06:41 PM You could always light the lake on fire in Cleveland...
reptillikus 09-23-2003, 07:01 PM Woops, sorry, i was talking about the 25-26th, which is the weekend in October.:brownbag
Kallure 09-24-2003, 12:55 PM that sounds do-able for me at least ...
my travel plans still haven't been confirmed, but i've told my boss i'm adamant about coming home that friday evening, as early in the evening as steve's schedule, and thus my ride, will work out.
i figure i can pack the major stuff before i leave, then come home and throw the rest of the stuff in bags and the car and then we can head up to red ridge from there, if that's the way we're gonna do it.
the only weekend that's not do-able is the 18th/19th of october, simply because they're having me fly out that saturday so it's cheaper. it's gonna suck not having a car in cleveland! :cry
reptillikus 09-24-2003, 08:06 PM Ok, i was over at Kodiak Customs today (my local 4x4 shop), and one of the head honchos over there asked me to help him set up a BIG 4wheelin trip to Paragon on Halloween Weekend. They want to sponsor it, and do like raffles and other stuff, maybe even reserve the whole park and rent out a whole floor or two in a hotel.
So now i HAVE to go to Paragon that weekend (or else ill never hear the end of it). So...how would you guys like to go wheelin with a bunch of other guys from the area, with all sorts of trucks and possibly win free shit?
lol, i feel like a salesman.:brownbag
Leonard 09-24-2003, 10:49 PM free shits always a good thing, i don't see why i couldn't swing halloween weekend. that monster show at the beach is what this weekend.
drexelsteve 09-24-2003, 10:57 PM sounds good to me, i'm in:thumbup
bnkrtstk 09-25-2003, 08:31 AM Sign me up for Halloween. I'll be wearing a rusty 79 Bronco.
Kallure 09-25-2003, 10:10 AM i was going to suggest halloween, but i didn't know if any of you guys were gonna go trick-or-treating! :histerica
like i said, i'm in if my driver'll have me :D
Accessory Man 09-25-2003, 01:42 PM Originally posted by Kallure

If not, I still got that nice roomy roof rack.
:thumbup
drexelsteve 09-26-2003, 12:42 AM so it's set for halloween weekend? that ought to be awsome. If thats the case i'll have to find a costume for my rig. Think my plan's gonna be to leave work early, right after lunch, so that i can set up camp n still have time to :beer whadaya think:shrug
Accessory Man 09-26-2003, 01:10 AM Originally posted by drexelsteve

How bout some chevy Bowties, or maybe a nice Dodge ramshead?
I know a Buick Hood Ornament
drexelsteve 09-27-2003, 01:26 AM Checking the paragon site, there's a toys for tots charity run that weekend. Don't know how big that event will be but maybe we ought to hold off till the following weekend:shrug it'd be less crouded. Just a thought, definitely don't wanna have traffic jam's like we did at raush creek.
reptillikus 09-27-2003, 06:28 PM Cripes, didnt know that, ill have to look into it.
Kallure 09-29-2003, 12:05 PM From what it looks like over at the website, they're treating the Toys for Tots ride essentially the same as the UCP - meaning they're seperating you into groups by skill level and assigning trail guides. I'm not sure if you can go out on your own, but it's probably going to be a decent sized event, so another weekend may be a good idea.
So we've got the 25th-26th of October open, which gives everyone about a month to get things together. Or the 8th-9th of November, which is about a month a half. Both weekends are open with nothing on the schedule. Or we could always still try to do the Halloween weekend.
Whichever is good for you guys. Just trying to figure it out - I've got people hounding me at work to participate in some company sponsored event one of those weekends and I would LOVE to tell them I have plans to get out of it, or have an answer as to what I'm doing that weekend.
I'd much rather be camping and wheeling though, definitely! Looking forward to it :thumbup
reptillikus 09-29-2003, 09:43 PM Nope, park is open that weekend:D
The guy from Kodiak (also named Kevin, lol) spoke to Kyle and he said we'd still be allowed to go out and do our own thing while the TFT's ride is going on.
So ill be at Kodiak tomorrow after work trying to help finalize what weekend theyre gonna do their ride.
drexelsteve 09-29-2003, 09:48 PM well keep us posted. So who's interested?
Kallure 09-29-2003, 10:12 PM So I guess Halloween is our target here? Sweet!!
Let's go trick or treating around Red Ridge! :histerica
reptillikus 09-30-2003, 09:22 PM Ok, so....its on! We are still waiting to hear back from a couple hotels. Besides the fact that it will be cold as hell that weekend, Red Ridge isnt open, so you couldnt camp there even if you wanted to.
So far we have 15 trucks, but that doesnt include any of you guys!:eek: So add in a couple buddies of mine from this area, and we're looking at (approximately) 2 groups of 10- 1 midsize, and one fullsize:cool:
Kallure 09-30-2003, 09:31 PM Sounds awesome!
i didn't even realize red ridge was gonna be closed. it's okay though, clean showers are always nice. think we could get a group rate on hotels???? :D
i would guess we're in if steve's schedule fits it
drexelsteve 09-30-2003, 09:34 PM :banghead it's not the same without sittin round the campfire throwin back a few!!! but...i'm in. Still halloween weekend?
reptillikus 09-30-2003, 09:38 PM We are working on reserving 20 rooms, so im pretty sure there will be a discount.:cool:
Oh, yeah...halloween weekend!
Kallure 09-30-2003, 09:39 PM Originally posted by drexelsteve

we'll light one in the trash can just for you babe!!! :D
Leonard 09-30-2003, 10:48 PM true it won't be the same without a fire an dbeer but if the hotels got a heated swimming pool or hot tub i think would suffice for the fire just have to hide the cooler. ether way i'm in.
Kallure 09-30-2003, 10:51 PM i second the pool and/or hot tub!!
let's try to get the cheapest rate we can though - like call all the hotels and see what they're charging if we book that many rooms and pick the lowest. discounts are nice, but they're not gonna compare to the $10 bucks a night at red ridge!! sorry, i'm cheap and poor! :histerica
Leonard 09-30-2003, 11:13 PM Originally posted by Kallure

don't worry your not the only one. time to find a new job for me. wow that would be 3 job changes in one year thats not good.
drexelsteve 09-30-2003, 11:17 PM another one? dang whats the problem? I could always put a word in at the old stealership if ya want.

bnkrtstk 10-01-2003, 09:15 AM I know for a fact the Ramada in Hazleton has a few rooms with hot tubs. But the pool is not heated.
Leonard if you are a tech with ASE's my company might be hiring. It's not wrenching, but it pays well. Were in Maple Shade. That goes for you too Steve, if you feel like getting out of the shop, one Saturday every 6-7 weeks. 7.5 hours a day. etc......
Kallure 10-01-2003, 04:33 PM So I was looking at this Best Western Genetti Lodge located on 309 and it seems that they have the cheapest rates so far without any discounts applied. (I'm sure if you do a search you'll find some info on them or go to cheaptickets.com and put in when we're going to be there for hotels, that'll pull it up)
Their cheapest rooms are $55.00 a night and they have whirlpool suites and a heated outdoor pool. Not sure about a hot tub.
But maybe we could check it out! They seem a bit more quaint and less commercial than some of the bigger chain hotels.
Just a suggestion. Their number is 866-823-9330 and their address is Route 309
Hazleton, Pennsylvania 18201
reptillikus 10-01-2003, 10:16 PM He called a bunch of hotels in the area, but im not sure which (if any) got back in touch yet, since by the time i got off work the shop was already closed. Hopefully we'll know for sure by the end of the week.
Oh, and who said anything about no beer? Just cause you cant drink @ Paragon doesnt mean you cant at the hotel:toothless
Actually, that would work out better......i could bring a cooler's worth of beer & other assorted goodies, and leave em safely behind in a hotel room for when we return:D
bnkrtstk 10-01-2003, 10:19 PM No beer at a hotel? The Ramada had a bar in it, and the people a few rooms down had about 6 empty cases out for the trash.
Kallure 10-01-2003, 10:26 PM since we can't bring our burgers and dogs to roast over the grill, we'll live on a pure liquid diet of barley & hops :thumbup though now that i think about it, we could still go even cheaper and bring the portable grill and just bbq out in the parking lot or something, redneck style!
just keep us posted ... like i said, looking for as cheap as we can go without being in like, a shack or something (the hotel from revenge of the nerds ii comes to mind :histerica)... got word about my bonus today and while it's nice to have extra money, it's a little less than i thought it was gonna be :(
reptillikus 10-01-2003, 10:30 PM Originally posted by bnkrtstk

bnkrtstk 10-01-2003, 10:30 PM The hotel had two charcoal grills for guests to use, kind of like you would find at a picnic area in a park,and a picnic area.
drexelsteve 10-02-2003, 12:52 AM well it would be nice to take a shower after a long day of wheelin. sounds good to me.
Leonard 10-02-2003, 01:18 AM whatever works i ain't picky, if it gets to be to much the back seats pretty comfortable once ya get the right spot, to many nights back there.
thanks for the offer fellas just trying to find somewhere that i like, current shop ain't bad but hours aren't enough. but i got 4 of my ase tests in nov. so that should help a bit.
drexelsteve 10-02-2003, 01:47 AM :thumbup offer still stands
Accessory Man 10-02-2003, 02:39 AM Well, if we are gonna have a hotel party like revenge of the nerds, even if my truck isnt ready for wheeling, I will come for the party. And who says you cant grill in a hotel room, if they have an outside heated pool i still have that little propane grill.
All we need now is info on a local strip club, to bring in some talent for those of us who arent B.Y.O. *chick*
:thumbup

regardless, do like will did and come along for the ride along - the more people, the better!
:lolup you said "talent" and "strip club" in the same sentence!
Kallure 10-06-2003, 01:05 PM Any word on the hotels yet?
Just curious, 'cause I'm thinking with that charity run happening the same weekend and none of the campgrounds being open, it would probably be a good idea to get rooms reserved ASAP.
I'm still eyeing that Best Western - they have that heated pool and rates starting at 55.00 a night for king size beds. :thumbup
Plus, I'm trying to work the costs into the budget. That bonus money sure does burn a hole in the pocket! :D
reptillikus 10-06-2003, 10:24 PM Workin on it. Been getting too much OT lately to swing by the shop to get details. Hopefully tomorrow.
drexelsteve 10-06-2003, 11:01 PM well keep us posted, i'' mgettin excited
Kallure 10-06-2003, 11:13 PM i second that! definitely getting excited! just keep us posted!
maybe we should have a semi-small/medium halloween party that friday night?! or at least hang out and :beer
halloween is one of my favorite holidays so it's awesome that this trip is falling over it -- two cool things in weekend!
Leonard 10-06-2003, 11:30 PM yeah sure ok.
Kallure 10-06-2003, 11:39 PM whatever - we'll just drink and hang ou
i know if one of you gets drunk enough, we can convince you to trick or treat around the hotel !! :histerica
kidding .. but i'm seriously looking forward it! gonna be fun! :thumbup
Leonard 10-07-2003, 10:32 PM i'm offended i don't have to be drunk to make a complete ass out of self. i do enough of that sober.:brownbag
Accessory Man 10-07-2003, 11:25 PM So let me get this right, were gonna get drunk and someone is gonna turn tricks at the Hotel???
(remembering to bring money)

All I know is that I will be bringing some alcohol and we'll be up there in decent enough time to actually drink some of it ... so go with that one
reptillikus 10-09-2003, 07:01 PM Looks like we will be staying at the Hampton!
They are cool with us reiting a ton of rooms. They said they might even keep the bar open later for us (as in, past 1:30):cool:
But...i dont know how much a room is going to cost everyone yet. I should know tomorrow. They know we're going as a big group, but we;re all responsible for our won rooms, so that means we all need to pre-register. So, i need CC info from you guys. CC#, name as it appears on the card, you know the drill. PM, email, voicemail, whatever, but i need it asap. (cell=9088391562) If you dont want to give it to me thats cool, just lemme know, and ill tell you how to contact them seperately so you get the group discount.
bnkrtstk 10-09-2003, 10:41 PM Hey Rep, could you PM me the hotel info?
The Hampton is a nice place, most of them have heated indoor pools. Free continental breakfast and newspapers too!
Leonard 10-10-2003, 02:11 PM whats the cut off date for this, and when you can post how much rooms are gonna be.
reptillikus 10-10-2003, 07:58 PM Ok guys, here's the deal.
Everyone can get in touch with The Hampton at this number:
570.453.0300
Ask for Nancy or Stephanie, and tell them you are with the Kodiak Customs Group. As it stands right now everyone's rooms are next door to each other, but if we fill up our allotment of rooms and need more, i cant guarantee that they will be in the same place as all the others. So call ASAP! (also, he told them we'd have all our rooms reserved by sometime sat :eek: )
Also, they are letting us have a halloween party in the bar, so wear a costume or something:D :beer
Oh, and on a final note.....I dunno how much the rooms are, as i just got home and havent called to reserve a room for myself yet.
:twak<-Me
Leonard 10-10-2003, 10:40 PM yikes, not much time then huh,
Kallure 10-11-2003, 12:21 PM I just reserved my rooms this morning ... $89.00 a night!!!! :shocked Way more than I expected.
It's not the Hampton Inn either, it's the Marriott Fairfield Inn. Their rooms typically run at 99.00 a night so I guess they gave us a discount on the room.
Anyway, Steve and I are set.
Leonard 10-11-2003, 01:53 PM reserved and set for fri to sun. me and the old man are set to go.
BTW we meeting up at the ikea again??
reptillikus 10-11-2003, 11:26 PM Yeah, he told me it was Hampton, so thats what i thought it was. Until i called, that is.
Im all set to go. Ill be headed out there with the guys from Kodiak, so expect to see a caravan of atleast 7 or so trucks if you guys beat us there. I think theres gonna be about 15 trucks total:cool:
Kallure 10-13-2003, 12:12 PM Originally posted by Leonard

Steve and I were talking about leaving at lunch and heading up there, this way we can get checked in, maybe get some food and have time to hang out and stuff.
So if you want to meet at IKEA we could do it, it may be a bit earlier than last time though.
Anyone else going besides us, Leonard and Rep??
bnkrtstk 10-13-2003, 01:11 PM If I can get a w/s in the Bronco beforehand, I'll be there, I am taking the gas tank skid off the 84 this week, so I should be there. Don't worry, I have a spare alternator this time, and starter, regulator, solenoid etc....
It looks like I'll be up there two weeks in a row, I'm riding with a co-worker the following week. He is headed up there with a group of Avalanche owners. I thought about taking the Bronco out with them, but this is one I'd rather watch.
Accessory Man 10-13-2003, 09:20 PM I may be going, if I do I will have to ride with someone on the trail becuase I am not wheeling this again til the Rad arm is replaced, and if I do go I wil be camping in the truck
Leonard 10-13-2003, 10:01 PM christy me and my dad may be able to swing 3 o'clock or so if thats good for you guys i'll have to check.

Accessory Man 10-13-2003, 10:13 PM No job, very little money, former employer is fighting my unemployemnt which means if by some chance he actually wins I have to pay al the unemployemnt I have collected back. So no unesseccary expenses yet. New job still in works, only naking Half ass ebay money so far, waiting on new business license and occupancy permits for them to get rolling right
Leonard 10-13-2003, 10:37 PM thats rough man, hope shit works out for ya.
reptillikus 10-14-2003, 10:40 PM Wow man, i hope it all works out for ya in the end!
On a side note......since the Toys for Tots ride is the same weekend, me and a couple of the other guys were thinking that it might be a good idea to bring some toys with us. Even if we're not riding with them, it would still be the 'nice' thing to do.
Also, there is talk of a costume party saturday night! Im thinking of going as a j##p owner:toothless
drexelsteve 10-14-2003, 11:04 PM http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/23034/p/373485_6275390851744061948_vl.jpg
i'm goin as Will, he's my hero:D
3:00 at ikea, halloween night sounds ok to me. I just wanna get there early so we have time to :beer I'm down with bringin some toys too. :thumbup
Leonard 10-14-2003, 11:28 PM i'm flattered.
funny seeing the bronc without cut wells, tires look so damn small now. i'm definatly down for getting there early enough to chill take a few laps in the pool and maybe hit the gym then the bar.
as for toys sounds like a good idea.
drexelsteve 10-17-2003, 12:05 AM 2WEEKS:rockon
Kallure 10-21-2003, 02:42 PM Week and a half!!! :thumbup
So we've got Will, Rep and us definite and Assman and bnkrtstk as a maybe (you guys' get things fixed? and there's always extra seats for those who don't want to break anything!) Anybody else on?
All booked and ready at the Fairfield.
Those of us in the vicinity meeting at 3:00pm at Ikea.
Bringing toys, costumes and :beer
bnkrtstk 10-21-2003, 02:47 PM I'm halfway there, I got the floors done, the seats from the 84 in, and fan shroud and tank skid are paid for and on the way. If I drive up at night, PA's finest won't notice the busted w/s. The inspection is good until 2/04 so I should be good to go.
reptillikus 10-21-2003, 05:13 PM kickass!
Friday im headed up there after work, so i probably wont get to the hotel 'till about 9 or so. Should be too hard to find a bunch of bronco owners though;)
Saturday we may be starting a little later than usual (maybe 10-11) so that most of the TFT's ride can clear the staging area, and so that the guys from kodiak (3 trucks) will hopefully be able to make it there in time. Otherwise theyll hook up with us later on in the day. Looks like it will be either me or the 'other' kev from kodiak leadin the way through the park this time:eek:
So everyone should decide what trails they wanna run! As usual, im down with running just about anything 'cept blacks. Well, maybe one black:toothless
But seriously, i love Spare Tire, but i dunno how possible that is for a stock height bronco. I always smash my rear bumper on that one. The Good, Bad & The Ugly was one of the first trail i ran there, back when i still had swaybars and 33s. That was a cool trail, although i expect the park will be running that one.
There is a cool trail i ran in April. #25. (no name yet) Green 2. Its on the map i got in april, but its not online. It was still grown over with grass and weeds and stuff which was cool. Its off coal road, over near M trail.
So whatta you guys want to run?
94 XLT BRONCO 10-21-2003, 05:25 PM DAMN I wanna go :banghead :banghead
Got a wedding I hav to go to that weekend :uhoh3

Rest assured it won't be the last run. I for one want to go up there in the snow. After deer season, since I think there is an SGL right near there. But then again, the decals on my truck should meet the required amount of orange.:shrug

We'll be the ones running through the halls of the hotel!!
Trails: I know some of us don't really like rocks, especially those of us without the SUPERDUPER lift and huge tires. :D kidding
The GB&U was what we turned off last time - I seem to remember pretty big rocks, a gas tank coming loose and a poor child losing her lunch on that trail.
#25 - does that run up through the blank area between rabbit run and valley road on the map on the website?? just underneath coal road - if it does, that's an awesome trail. we ended up there back when we went in august and it wasn't named or on the map we had - couldn't figure out where we were but got a general idea when we let off at valley -- would love to run that trail again and if i'm not mistaken, we're thinking of the same one!!
I wouldn't mind going down by the mine again and running the Spare Tire and water crossing - as long as will packs a spare gas tank! :histerica
And of course, there's always awesome mud on Valley Road, down near where it intersects with Haul Road

Who, me?????? I dunno what youre talkin about :brownbag
Besides, i need all that lift to save whats left of my fenders!
Besides, i have new low-profile rock-sliders that i need to test out anyway:toothless

Yeah, GB&U was actually pretty hard for us to do, but half of us were on tires smaller than 33s.
...and we had a truck break down in the middle of it.
I did it on 33s with no real problem except for one specific rock which was just a little too tall to climb, and we all had to stack rocks to get over it. Hell, i got a 97(?) f150 on 265's down it without any body damage, so its quite passible:thumbup
Here is a pic of Trail25:
http://tellico.off-road.com/wwwthreads_uploads/1205551-trail25.jpg
Ok, i lied, its a Green3. But it was definitely a cool trail! Id like to run it again. 23 is an un-named Black2 trail, and 16 is PipeBender (which is black3)
Spare Tire is always an adventure. Last time i ran it that chebby 2500 on 38's (some of you might remember seeing that truck back in april) got highcentered going in, and blew a bead/thrashed a rim coming out. I was told later that i almost did too. Im told it got its name due to alot of jeeps blowing tires there. Its gotten mellower than it used to be a few years ago.:eek:
Also, you know there is Inner Spare Tire and Outer Spare Tire, right? I can never remember which one we run. Ill have to post a pic of it later.
And of course, im always up for slingin some mud!
I travel with a spare altenator now cause im on my 5th or so in 3 years now:eek: Yeah, i go out in the gooey stuff alot.
And after what happened to Steve in DE, i have a spare starter now, too.

Hey, that would be cool........ Let plan a hunting / Wheeling Trip ???? :thumbup

~~~ shootin and wheelin ~~~
drexelsteve 10-21-2003, 09:39 PM i think that my favorite trail ever was down cherokee ridge into puddle of mud. can't imagine goin up cherokee ridge though. not a huge fan of the rocks but i'll always game as long as i have a decent spotter.
Leonard 10-21-2003, 11:42 PM don't worry about me splitting tanks ain't happening this time if i cross it again i'm staying over and meeting ya'll up the trail. besides it wouldn't of been so bad if some one didn't chicken out.
you guys remember the trail names???? types of trails i don't really care about i'll rocks i really wanna get muddy though, just don't wanna do any of the really tight trails.
drexelsteve 10-21-2003, 11:52 PM besides it wouldn't of been so bad if some one didn't chicken out
couldn't have topped your performance bro:thumbup
Leonard 10-22-2003, 12:15 AM just starting the ribbing now.:thumbup
btw can't remember right now but so we pass this hotel on the way or is a little out of the way?? i've been kinda lazy/busy the last week and haven't gotten directions yet.
drexelsteve 10-22-2003, 12:25 AM not sure, but my gf probably know. she's good with that stuff.
Now you're talking:thumbup Do you know of anywhere we could. PAP would get all pissy if they see rifle cases in the backs of our trucks. :banghead
As far as trails go, the more mud the better, some rocks are fine. But don't worry about my tank coming loose this time. I'll have the skid plate by then, and as far as kids losing their lunches, I took the carpet out for a hose down interior.
reptillikus 10-22-2003, 09:27 AM Farifield is off Rt93, right off 81. If i recall correctly, it is the exit before Paragon, so its probably about 15 minutes from Paragon.
Tight trails is not a problem, i can think of a bunch of trails in the green3-blue 2 area that are pretty wide and not quite as rocky as GB&U. (Now i just need to remember all of their names!:duh )
Im not farmiliar with the area as far as hunting but if there is SGL there, shouldn't be a problem? We can always ask around. We can always leave the guns somewhere else while wheelin. :D
Kallure 10-22-2003, 02:10 PM I guess we weren't talking about the same trail. The one we were on, and Steve'll remember it, isn't even on the map and hasn't been on any of the maps I've gotten. It's like a detour and it's marked and everything, but I don't think it even has a number. I just remember we were running around near Rabbit Run and came along it and just sort of followed it. I had no clue where it was on the map or where we were gonna drop off, but it ended up out at Valley Road, it seemed and it has some awesome climbs and curves and stuff. A crude adaptation of it looks like this:
http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/26969/p/536878_1149389960092598630_v.jpg
The green line is the trail we were following and the black is sort of my idea of where the trails runs through. I just remember we were running it with Keith and Matt on our second day back in the park (after our afternoon playing mechanics in the parking lot) and it was pretty decent. If we could find that trail again, it'd be awesome!!
I really don't know which is best to run for the Spare Tire because like we said, we never made it over the water crossing - Will went across and back and then we turned around and headed back up past the coal mine because none of us felt comfy running the water.
I wouldn't mind running Cherokee Ridge down again into Puddle of Mud - as Steve said, that's an awesome trail and PoM is exactly what it says - a huge trail filled with nothing but big puddles. Still a big fan of the Rubicon Lake area and Turtle Trail going down - and the last couple of times we didn't get to explore a lot of the area below Haul Road (except for GB&U and maybe Logging Road) so that would be a prospect as well.
I can navigate but still haven't really gotten the hang of spotting. It's easier to take responsibility for getting us lost than it is for being part of the cause of something breaking! :D
Oh, and as far as the hotel goes, it's on the other side of 81, so we'd actually go past the little UniMart, over the bridge and up into Hazleton to get back to the hotel. Like this:
http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/26969/p/536874_6950841683499386771_v.jpg (though that's actually how we'd go to Paragon from the hotel!)
This is gonna be awesome! After the week I'm having here in Cleveland - wheeling is gonna be the best vacation yet! We're gonna have to trade cells again because Steve got rid of his so I'm his secretary as well his girlfriend now!
BTW - Steve, check your truck and let me know if we still have the maps from last time! I forgot what we did with them and wanted to see if we needed to print out more copies.
Leonard 10-22-2003, 10:27 PM um.. ok i think i got where the hotel's at i'll probably call em in the next couple days anyway.
as far as spare tire goes the other side of the water crossing isn't that bad. when i was there last year we ran it the other way, after you get passed the water crossing it comes up to a y of sorts a sharp right which is an easy grassy trail just gotta watch for hidden stumps and rocks.
reptillikus 10-23-2003, 11:06 PM Dont mind me, just trying to match some trails with names in my head. Does this (http://www.rockdawgs.com/modules/Gallery/albums/album78/077_G.sized.jpg) look like a pic of Spare Tire where Will thrashed his tank?
drexelsteve 10-23-2003, 11:55 PM http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/19853/p/371086_7604845588571155892_vl.jpg
kinda looks more like this:lolup
drexelsteve 10-23-2003, 11:59 PM think i still have the maps, i'll have to check though.
Leonard 10-24-2003, 12:52 AM yup thats spare tire or at least one of them not sure it is outer or inner i think outer.
hey steve could you make me a copy of the last trips photos?
drexelsteve 10-24-2003, 01:18 AM which trip, the ucp run?
reptillikus 10-24-2003, 08:44 AM Yeah, ok, i got it now.
Thats Outer Spare Tire. Inner Spare Tire is alot harder:eek:
reptillikus 10-28-2003, 09:36 PM Me +3!
well, atleast 2. My usual spotter (my buddy matt) is coming, and my bro finally has the chance to go, so he's comin too. my buddy dan wants to go, but after screwing up his jeep on Pick your Poison 2 weeks ago, he doesnt wanna 'wheel it this weekend. He was either gonna ride with me or one of the other guys/gal we're meeting up with.
I was diggin through past pics of rides out there, and remembered a cool trail that i would love to run again: Chicken Run. I actually thought it was pretty easy, but it was cool and twisty and muddy and not really rocky and stuff.:D
Leonard 10-29-2003, 12:18 AM sweet, i'll give anything a try just wanna stay away from the real tight ones, wanna keep my flares on for at least a year.
reptillikus 10-30-2003, 08:34 PM 24 hours!!!!!!!!!!
drexelsteve 10-31-2003, 01:39 AM think i'm meetin will at ikea 3ish. anyone else? :shrug can't wait!!! so is anyone wearin a costume tomorrow?
bnkrtstk 10-31-2003, 09:23 AM I'm not going to be able to make it, the payment for the skid plate I was getting never made it, damn post office. :banghead
Besides I'm just getting over strep throat. If you guys need emergency parts delivery, or anything along those lines, Steve you have my cell.
THAT SUCKS DUDE!!
Come without a skid plate - we'll stay away from rocks. If you're getting over strep, it means you're not contagious anymore. Only the first day or two -
No one else better bail ...
We're leaving work at lunch today and we'll be heading up to meet Will and anyone else who wants to show up at 3 or so. So anyone who hasn't said they want to go and wants to meet us, we'll be at the old IKEA parking lot in Plymouth Meeting (in the mall parking area) around 3. Last time we went people just showed up *cough* Keith *cough* so maybe this time too.
See everyone tonight!
reptillikus 11-02-2003, 09:12 PM Just got home a little while ago. I sat in traffic on 80 for an hour!
Truck seems to be fine, so ill be puttnig my new thermostat in sometime tomorrow.
My memory card is fubar, so im going to attempt to get in touch with scandisk, or atleast find out how to, right now. I hope i can save all those pics!!!!!
Leonard 11-02-2003, 09:26 PM good to here kev, got back myself about an hour or so ago, besides a possible busted body mount bolt or 2 i'm doing well myself, same with my dads truck, and a don't think steve had any problems ether.
reptillikus 11-02-2003, 09:56 PM Good to hear!
While we were still at the gas station, Steve was saying something about you possibly needing a new altenator?
Oh yeah, i have your dad's fan clutch , and i think he has my tire gauge.
Leonard 11-02-2003, 10:45 PM nah my alts good but my dads may be on the way out, i'll check with him to see if he does have your gauge though. hope your able to save those pics that would suck if you lost 'em
bnkrtstk 11-03-2003, 11:52 AM So what did I miss?:shrug
drexelsteve 11-03-2003, 03:20 PM well we made it home ok. No problems here. I'll start another post to show some pics.
Leonard 11-03-2003, 04:50 PM yeah thought i made it home ok but this morning truck no start missed work fixing the damn thing, solinoid and a battery. i think i shorted out one of the cells thing held voltage about as well as a spaghetti strainer.
