View Full Version : Different style wristed arm?
BadassBronco 09-16-2003, 10:59 PM so, this should work right? the cut will be made to the right of the clamp somewhat.
shoul dhavea good 5" of area top and bottom to weld the 1/2" plate to on the back half
it should pivit alright even though the arms bent? my thinking says yes since it straightens back out at the bushing
to late now to stop, as the holes have been "Punched"

gonna fill both sides of the arm solid with plate steel so it can't collapse.
plug ugly 09-16-2003, 11:11 PM is that JBG? Is it hollow tube?
i dont see why it wont work. One thing we have been fiuring out is, dont make the gap between the two 'arms' too big. it allows too much movemen, whcih really altars the pinion angle, and may have been part of Daves probs on the con this summer. Just something bill and I have been thinking about. Maybe leave like a 1/4 inch, so as it pivots, the top corner of the axle end, will hit about 1/2 way down or so.
BadassBronco 09-16-2003, 11:12 PM so you mean basically build a "Stop" into it?
its hollow tube, but im gonna pack both ends of the cut solid with plate steel so it cant collapse
for XXXX sake man
you can fab!
just do a 3 link
lower link from centre of dif to tranny crossmember area

Daves main issue was that his other arm (the arm that bent) has been bent a few times, weakend, and never fixed.
As for Zach, just run a metal bushing in th piviot and lock on that arm and it should be fine. Having it bent won't affect any of the geomertry
BadassBronco 09-22-2003, 11:16 PM still need to weld in the bushings, then install the end caps opn both arms. then finish weldiing on the plate.

yep
and the correct bolt isnt in it yet, but oww well. i just tossed one i had laying around to do all my measuring and testing with.
Dustin 10-03-2003, 12:11 AM looks good dude.....as soon as i get an eatra arm im going to build one
BadassBronco 11-23-2003, 07:36 PM well, it difinatly works good!
many of you gusy know i am extremely busy in the summer/fall months, so this is why my dana 60 swap in front has been a 5 month project.....plus the fact i get tired of the bronco....
worked on it today, slung the D60 under it, and bolted it all up
now im contimplating even makign a trac bar/shocks mounts for right now, as all i need to do is get the front tires on it so i can roll it out of the shop, clean up, and roll it back in again to do the trans/T case swaps.
then i will hopefully have the $$ to finish the front end the way i want to. Coilovers or custom coils, 35 spline outers. moving the radius arm brackets upwards, and other misc crap.
i figure why make the stuff, to remake it before it even leaves the shop.....
anyways, my bind issue on the radius arm bushings is definatly gone!

im getting 26* out of the fornt end so far, and im maxing it out by hitting the frame with the high end, and the gorund with the low end.
i need to figure how im gonna make my trac bar that wont limit it severly
