You'll actually be NE of Denver when arriving at the airport. Any games going on at Coors Field? If you like Baseball, that stadium will surely give you many homers, and is just a nice field (coming from a non-interested b-ball fan). Also, a little trip to the mountains would be sweet if you have the time and a rental vehicle???? Get a 4WD and then talk to the locals!!!!!!!!:rockon
What's the training since you will be in Broomfield? I'll be in the area in November...:duh
83rustbucket 08-02-2006, 11:48 PM I will be in the mountains wheeling that weekend. You are welcome to join us. I will be in the Breck/dillion area. about 1hr west of Denver.
ScorpionBoy 08-03-2006, 03:18 PM Joe, I would focus on hitting downtown denver in the afternoons. get down to sixteenth street mall area. hit the paramount for a good burger and drinks. then you can pub crawl on larimer. sixteenth street mall is actually sixtheenth street itself which has been closed to traffic. there are free busses running up and down the length of it, so you can really snoop around.
if you are into amusement parks, elitchs is downtown as well, but i think on a sunday you would spend most of your time standing in line. there are some sweet coasters there though. i heard the aquarium is worth seeing, but have never been there myself. the museum of natural history is on par with the field museum in Chicago, if that is your thing. has one of the best rock specimen collections ever.
boulder would probably be an ok place to visit this time of year as well. won't be tooooo busy, just busy. watch out for the frickin photo-red there, bastards.
rocks will be in SF.
hang out till the weekend of the 11th, you can watch denver grand prix!
let me know if you need some more info on resturants and stuff. unfortunately, i can't make it up there for a few weeks myself or i would come buy you a beer.
Dangling_Dave 08-10-2006, 04:17 PM Joe, I live about 10 minutes from Broomfield, give me a call at 720-849-9956. I should have Zak back on the road Saturday (problem with rear Sterling). I talked to Rob (ZoZo) I guess that you have his phone number as well. If nothing else we can have a mini meet and greet somewhere.

dsotmoon 08-17-2006, 09:03 PM sorry i didnt get to meet up with anyone while I was there but sunday when i flew in i didnt get to the hotel (sping hill suites in broomfield) till about 2pm your time and I was tired with a massive headache so i just chilled in the room and went to bed early
however the company i was out there training with treated us right and took us out to eat at great places and a little afternoon sight seeing
we went to some small mtn, flatrock/flat iron? something like that, passed the street jean benet ramsey lived on and went to boulder for dinner (mexican, rio something?) that night and walked the mall and then went to a bar and set on the roof, forgot the name but it was near walnut brewery/bar i think, they tried to find the "zip code man" but he wasnt out and about i guess
tuesday they took us to central city/blackwater? for a little gambling at the casino and ate there, it was neat to see the old mines and mtns, never been at that elevation before, left there and went down the canyon (clear creek or something like that) and passed Golden CO and saw the Coors plant, man that thing is huge
all in all it was great to visit there, i loved the non-humidity, they were complaining that it got up to like 35%, haha, it hardly ever dips below 60% here, seeing the prairie dogs and all the rabits out in the wild was pretty neat, i walked from the hotel to the super target across the way and those damn prarie dogs scared the shiat out of me, barking at me and running around :wacko you have to go to a zoo to see them here
nice area, glad i got to see it :rockon
Dangling_Dave 08-18-2006, 10:38 AM Sorry we did not get a chance to meet you.
Hmmm, Flat Iron Mall? Huge mall, cute bolder chicks, used to have a great camping store (Galyans turned into Dick's).
I forget the name of the bar you were in/on in Boulder. It is on the west end of the mall. I spent many a brain cell up on the roof back when I drank.
Central City/Blackhawk used to be a great area to wheel. But they built all those damm houses and now it is hard to get to the cool old mines to mess around in. I used to work across the street from the Coors plant. There is a great hiking trail that goes up the mesa on the back side of the plant.
Prarie Dogs, make great targets. They turn into "red mist" when you hit one with a 22-250. That and they carry the Plauge so stay away from them.
