Seeing as im still new here, (so i dont really know what mods ya'll have done to your trucks) i was wondering just what kind of trails you guys wanna run on the trip? Ill run pretty much anything, just wanna know so i can better prep for the ride

probably gonna be an easy ride. Like myself a few of us are taking our daily drivers. My 90 may or may not be done in time so i know I will be taking it easy and be a wuss this time round.

I was out there two weeks ago, and ran a great selection of trails...
real hard stuff on saturday; nothin too hard on sunday (there were guys there in p'ups worried about body damage), but i had a blast on both days. If im in 4wd, im happy! :mrgreen:

Unless I win the lottery, the '86's engine will not be back together in time for the run. So will most likely be taking the '94, stock Bronco that I use as a DD. So it won't be too much hard wheeling, because I have to drive it back a long ways. That's why I bought the '86 so I could barrel roll it 6 times and not care, just as long as it's still running. :cheers:

I think I am going to try to do what I can to make this ride jsut all depends on if the lift has come in by then cause if it has I may be wrenching instead. Wife said I cant order it until mid june when I have half the money saved. and I want it on before the end of july when I go to GWNF.

I agree with rept how many have been to paragon before and what mods do you all have done to your rigs so that those of us that have been before can figure out what trails to run ( tire size and type ie a/t or mud tires very important).

I plan on bringing my 3 yr old for his first time so easy trails are fine with me. I ma thinkg the upper greens and lower blues

Does anyone/everyone have CBs? I didnt know how great they were offroad till i got one 2 months ago.
And in case anyone hasnt been there yet, you will need front and rear recovery of some sort, and no, holes in the frame dont count. Hooks up front would be nice (ive used mine twice there), and a hitch or hooks out back will work great.

never been there before but can't wait to go. currently runnin 79 bronco, open diff's, 33inch at's, 4inch lift, hooks front n rear, cb. By the end of june i should have my 36 inch swampers and a spool in the rear. Anything else u guys recomend?

Its always good to have a strap (no hooks on it), but they only require that someone youre riding with have one. If ya got one bring it, last time we needed to use 3 to get a truck free. (broke a winch cable)
A garbage bag is required for removing any, well, garbage, but also to remove any contaminated soil, should coolant, oil, etc be spilled. I always stock up on extra supplies before i go out on a trailride.

That could conceivabley TOO COOL, I am still planning on being there already worked my schedule around it. As for camping, I don't know I might just Hotel it especailly if there are any good strip clubs around there. Rumor has it that the Carlisle Event is also that weekend so I might detuor to that.

Im game for meeting up with people to caravan, but i dont think everyone is in my area. it would waste time for me (and everyone else) to meet up with people who already live in PA, but if anyone in central Nj wants to meet up, im game. Otherwise we can all meet in the staging area, itll be easy to find broncos in the lot, usually im one of the only fords there, and almost always the only fullsize.
The park opens at 830, so we can meet then, before it gets busy, and itll also get us more time on the trail. :mrgreen:

I bought a cheapo radioshack cb for 10 bux. Works great. Let me know if you dont get anything, I have 4 Cobra handhelds laying around.

How many channels are those handhelds? I know the park uses 4 (or was it 5), but anything else is free to use. I say we pick an odd-ball channel, like 37 or 23 or something :mrgreen:

Well if your unit is properly tuned(by this I mean your CB :twisted: ) the closer to the center, meaning 19,20,21 the better it will perform. hats why 19 is a Popular channel.

Yeah OLD Ikea! The building is still there but they moved to a new site over by the home depot off of ridge pike. But I think meeting at the Mall at the old building would be easiest. Right off the T-Pike and Blue Route just need to figure out time and how many people.

My trip to Paragon is in Jeopardy, my lift kit has still not arrived. My help for this weekend is dwindled down to 2 high school kids. If we can't do it this weekend, next weekend is out becuase we have a show to work... and the following weekend is Paragon. I am exploring my options. I still want to find a way to go. First hings first, I need the kit in my hands.

good point, u really don't wanna rush it. and there's no shame in wheelin a stock bronco ;) I on the other hand ought to have my 35x14 ground hawgs by then. only thing i really have to get before the trip are a pair of spare driveshafts.

See previous post in other section about my cracked radius arm bracket, my truck hasn't gone faster then 30 mph and over 2000 rpms in over a week

Quick fix go to Als get new/used bracket drill out rivets remove nut install new/used bracket and bolt up with grade 8 hardware works great also easy way to replace bushings. then one side will be easier to do lift on when time allows in the meant time wheeling at paragon back on!

All the rivets are already replaced with grade 8 hardware, becuase of this crack my confidence level in the stock componants is not high. It is a daily driver, as for Al's, the only thing I hate more then doing the same job twice is bying parts I will only need for a few weeks. For that much I would have ordered it from ford. I will find a way. First thing is to get the kit in my hands, then I will find a way to get it on the truck.

If it comes down to it, and you need the help, i may be able to free up some time to help out a fellow bronco owner. I think youre like an hour west of me, which is doable.

I have a question though.....that trailmaster kit replaces the radius arm bracket? (My superlift kit reused it, but just in a different location. But then again, i have their extended arms.)

Yup, Trailmaster replaces the brackets and the arms, there is a frame crossmember added, and NO blocks in the rear, just a leaf with a heck of an arch to it. Hopefully since we are having shipping problems and the Trailmaster rep feels bad about it, he will be down to help. Trailmaster says the kit is an 8 hour install, he told me he can do it in 4, if I stay out of his way. I will just keep my fingers crossed and my options open.

it's gettin close, i can't wait. been tweekin my truck for the past three weeks. finally got around to puttin a stereo in, pan n valve cover gaskets, threw an hv pump in while i was in there(still no oil press. though:banghead) new ball joints, frt. bearings, repacked the hubs, and i even ghetto secured my bow'd ass superflex coils. all i gotta do is find some spare shafts n i'm good to go. Believe it or not, there is NO difference in handling, if I had not been under it looking for my t-case and tranny vents so I could do the whole extend and outfit with breather thing I read about in another post I would never have known it. It rides great, but I dont go more then 35mph max now. I have been told if I break it clean off I can drive it home, just if I do, no sharp turns and NO backing up. The break hasnt got any bigger, but I can't wheel with it like this. Should have a tuarus to drive by the end of the week, my friend with the car lot is hooking me up until the car sells on ebay.

I still have Hopes to go, just prolly wont get it aligned until after the trip now, and I will bring more tools then I would have, to re-torque things if need be

It is the passenger side one I need, I appreciate the offer and I will let you know. Unfortunatly money is becoming and issue as well, my commision check from last month was supposed to be for the trip, but I wound up having to pay $700 for the kit so, it could all be mute. I just want to get this kit on so I can think straight again

Im headin down after work friday night, still havent decided if im camping or staying at a hotel. Theres several in the area. Ill be there for both days, and may be bringing one or two other trucks with me.

There are two or three gas stations in the area for airing up afterwards. One of them (i forget which offhand, but ill remember when i see it) has a much better air compressor, which means youll actually save a dollar or two airing back up afterwards. (i really need to fiinish my oba setup)




by the way.....since its been raining pretty much non stop since like march or something, its gonna be pretty muddy there in places....i hope everyone has extened their vent lines!

thanks for the offer but got it figured out in school today, i replaced the drums and shoes on sun. and some how a shit load of air got in to the system but all good now. Now all i gotta do is replace the rear most u-joint that went kaboom, found that on sun. as well. i gotta pick up a hand held cb this week what channel are we gonna use for those bringing CB's

Ok, D$%^&*nmit, I did what I HATE doing, I ordered a replacement stock bracket. looks like my lift is going to be a while, and my help ers and use of the shop to install a while longer. So, my bracket should be here tommorrow, I should have it installed tommorrow as well baring any major screw up. So I AM going. Stock height, no ruff stuff, I can't afford a tow home. I will, either be going up Friday afternoon, or I am willing to do the Ikea meeting thing, as I will prolly be doing some fine tuning on friday since I took off.

Youll definitely need to go to Red Ridge first, as Paragon doesnt allow alcohol in the park, and yes they will check your coolers.

Alright, it's about time. we need a head count who's in who's out. me, leonard,kht428,reptillikus, gators0204 +1, and accessory man. unless i left anybody out that makes 6. more than enough. so i guess we'll meed at the old ikea at plymoth meeting lets say 6:00(for those who wanna cruise up there friday night. i'm headin strait to red ridge to set up camp(haven't called ahead-busy workin on bronc all day) and we'll meet at paragon about 830-930ish saturday morn. 610-368-3880 my cell incase anyone needs anything. The new trail (#25) was pretty cool, not too hard, but i got strapped outta it cause my altenator died whilst on it, so i feel the need to go back just so i can fully run it.
I cant recall which Spare Tire i ran last time, if it was inner or outer, but i think it was inner, and it was a freakin killer trail.
i seem to recall Rock Swamp (#86) being cool, but i dont really remember.


Note: there are requirements for running black trails....namely 33" or larger tires, 3" lift and one locker. So if you really want to run one, dont tell the park staff you will be. I ran Rattler (Black 1), and it was pretty damn hard to do, even with my tires/lift/locker. Expect body damage.


On that note, im down for running anything, but i really want to run Spare Tire, its just too cool.

sounds like a sweet trip. i'm hoping to leave on fri. probably won't be till later on around 7-8 need some last minute things hopefully a cb so somebody keep one on. if ican't find one my cell is (610) 324 0775. i really don't care what trails we run when i was there never really paid any attention to the names just kinda pick'em as we went, ended up running a few backwards. we gonna stay to the rocks and trails or hit the mud as well.

Hey guys, sorry i didnt show Saturday, but i ran into some 'technical issues' on the ride out friday night.....kinda blew my water pump about a half hour after i left. I didnt get it fixed early enough to even try to make it to Paragon by late Saturday afternoon, so i didnt bother going to the park till Sunday.

Yea, awesome time. Almost rolled the truck, no pics of that though. I was told my right rear tire was off the ground about 4-5ft. We were blazin through a trail cause leonard poked a hole in his gastank. Pics to come.

Me and Vince overheated on the way home, had to get towed. 270 each:shocked

Our rads were clogged up with more mud than the trucks had on them. We cleaned his lastnight, flushed it and changed the thermostat. Im bout to do that now. Oh his runs fine now. Also have a leak in the rad.

We were curious to know if yours was running hot too Matt?? Since all 3 of us had the same problems.

Yeah, I made it home ok. Still running hot, Very hot even with the heat on. I slowed down to 50MPH after Keith got off at his exit and it cooled a bit. I don't think it is the fan cluth, funny though it wont get hot at idle. I am gonna pull the grill shell this weekend and separate the condenser, and the trans cooler and clean between that crap, prolly change the hoses and flush the system, do a thermostat. So far ran great to work today, and ran to the store last night after I was home for an hour or so with the extra cooler ice dumped on it.

When we going back huh??? September maybe, when its a little cooler for wrenching in the dirt.

damn:banghead wish we had your cell #s cause mat had the same problem!!! we flushed his rad 2 times it was still overheatin. I was overheated a few times on the trail yesterday. It was all the mud caked on the motor. I think it might be the fan clutch that went bad on matt's.

I guess you made out since you didnt overheat, but yeah definatley clean and flush.

Mine overheated from the campsite to Paragon on sunday, we cleaned it and thought we had the problem fixed. My AC compresser blow off valve has been going off too, but not when the truck hot, cause i wasnt running it then.

Gators, you didnt need to get them towed, just sit and wait for them to cool, ad drive a little further, and do it again, that was our plan, luckily, we got it clean enough I didnt have too, but it ran HOTT!!!

I tried that, it started coming out of the overfill box.

drained, flushed and cleaned all the mud outta the rad. Lots of mud, took about a half hour. Runs cooler than it ever did now though.

Gotta do a thorough check under the truck, seems to have a slight vibration.:shrug

I watched that first hill climb on Sunday, and I have to say.....Yer nuts.....

Just getting around to getting online. Glad to hear everybody got home ok with a few exceptions. couldnt you guys get a group discount on the tow? Well lets see damage count for my bronco: steering stabilizer,both outer tie rods, inner tie rod, drag link, gas tank, transfer case skid plate,left rear fender(damn tree). Gas tank will be in tomorrow along with fuel pump assembly. Special Thanks to all who went and lent a hand in the repair of vehicles. Especially to leonards dad :thumbup an expensive weekend but well worth it. Looking forward to the next run. I'm still planning on doing the charity ride in august at paragon and rausch creek hopefully with a little less damage. I still cant believe how straight my truck drives with my backwoods alignment.? lets start planning another ride hopefully before august.

I'll have to try that hill after i get a longer shaft:histerica i've got a pretty wicked thumpin sound goin into second. Its right under the drivers seat so i think it'll have somethin to do with a trans mount or something. on sunday we found a few trails that u all would have loved. One was a REALLY tight twistie through the trees, really steep, sharp turns and some mud to make for some "skiing". Thats where i hit a few trees, slid right into one n gave my bronc a black eye. Another time i took a turn n sideswiped a tree. almost tore the pass side mirror off. if i can get digitalpose.com to cooperate i'll post my pics:banghead i figure we'll give it a month or 2 to recover before we go up there again, can't wait though.

Yeah busted my tank on sunday on the same trail that got my rear fender. Had to have steve and accessory man stack rocks to get me turned around and back down hill trail was a blue 2 (yeah right) I cant belive what a stock bronco will do. We were talking about it on the ride home I think we should do a pine barrens run some time in the near future should be a lot less damage and could probably get more people to show up. And doesnt require any major modifications.

i kinda like the idea kh428 had about a trip to the pine barrens in jersey. the sand would probably be a lot more forgiving than the rocks were. Anybody know a good place to go?

I thought as long as you stayed on established trails it was ok to wheel in the barrens. You're from NJ reptilikus do you know something we PA' ers don't. I'm so tired of finding trails closed. I normally go down 206 and start taking trails. Have run into rangers and never had a problem. But have never seen any rules or laws regarding vehicle usage.

the barrons aren't bad ya just get lost real easy. i'd be up for it.

As long as you know of a legal spot. I stay away from the area mainly cause its very rare that im ever down that way, so i dont know what trails are open or closed, and the Rangers usually dont like to hand out that kind of info easily. (or so i hear)
Over the past year, NJ has really been crackin down on 4wheelers, and pretty soon there wont be any legal spots left :bs




Gators, id def. check your d.s, but thats is also the same speed range that out-of-balace front tires give off vibes. Do a quick check to see if you didnt skip a weight off a rock while at the park.....thatd be great if your problem was something that simple!

Sounds like fun. Have cash for gas money, and finally got 4LO working. Need to try out my rig. Problem is... Where is Paragon, how do I get there. I am in New Haven CT. But will travel ANYWHERE in the Northeast. I just need two or three days heads-up time.
