View Full Version : Main Paragon Run Leonard 03-20-2003, 10:41 PM planning for june 28-29. this is definatly going to be a 2 day thing I'm trying to find campsites in the area. If you wanna join us post here just to give me a head count. gators0204 03-21-2003, 06:37 PM Count me in. I'll try again, seems everytime I'm ready to go something happens. Hopefully we get enough trucks that IF a couple trucks back out the run can still go on. Max 03-21-2003, 10:12 PM Yeah, I'll be there. SavageBrat 03-23-2003, 03:52 PM  i'm there..... Leonard 03-29-2003, 04:08 AM FOUR thats it there's gotta be more then that. oh well its more then we've had so far. gators0204 03-31-2003, 05:03 PM My buddy will come up with his truck too, so thats 5. Leonard 04-02-2003, 06:03 AM that works. anybody know i forgot his real name was Dabroncorich2 on MBB's email or XX_bill's. oh what bill moved out to of jersey but who knows he still may want to join. NEED more people. Max 04-03-2003, 01:19 PM I'll see if I can get in touch with Aaron some how. P.S. Happy belated birthday Will.... kht428 04-05-2003, 11:55 PM brand new to the site but I,d love to go on the paragon run in june send me some info. gators0204 04-14-2003, 11:18 AM kht428ee your from Warminster. Your not to far from me, I'm in Bensalem. 80bronco 04-24-2003, 11:55 AM Sorry guys wont be able to make the end of june hoping to be lift ing hte bronco and regearing. I have been to paragon 3 times and love it maybe we can make a trip for sometime in sept or oct. reptillikus 04-24-2003, 10:26 PM Hey guys, im in! Ill actually be there this weekend, leaving tomorrow night, returning sunday night. A great campground to stay at is Red Ridge (http://paragonap.com/rrlcamp.htm), which is near the park, and very 4x4 friendly! Leonard 04-25-2003, 05:50 AM cool more people. hey reptilikus thanks for the campsite info i've been a little busy lately and couldn't spend much time looking. Max 05-01-2003, 06:28 PM Accessory Man from MBB said he's marking his calender and should be there. I talked to Aaron the other week, said he wants to go but does not know for sure yet. gators0204 05-01-2003, 06:39 PM Nice this is turning out to be a good run. Gotta hook up my tow hooks this weekend and maybe have my little 2 1/2 lift on it whenever my new bolts come in. Leonard 05-03-2003, 02:52 AM cool. i'm hoping to have my rebuild done and fenders cut. can't wait to gat muddy. 80bronco 05-03-2003, 01:02 PM Wouldnt plan on getting to muddy at paragon mostly rocks out there but rocks are a blast Leonard 05-03-2003, 02:42 PM theres plenty of spots to get muddy over there at least there was last time i was there. gators0204 05-03-2003, 04:36 PM Looks like mud to me, this is Leonard here http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/2013/1241/Will_Through_the_River.JPG Me, aliitle deeper in  http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/users/2013/1241/Fordin_the_river.JPG 80bronco 05-03-2003, 09:51 PM Looks like water to me!!!! :finger: http://cmba.homestead.com/files/IM000112.jpg Now this is mud gators0204 05-03-2003, 11:41 PM mud is mud, there was some thicker stuff like that too. Leonard 05-04-2003, 01:39 AM mud, water, muddy water, who cares all fun in my book reptillikus 05-09-2003, 06:48 PM Seeing as im still new here, (so i dont really know what mods ya'll have done to your trucks) i was wondering just what kind of trails you guys wanna run on the trip? Ill run pretty much anything, just wanna know so i can better prep for the ride gators0204 05-09-2003, 10:22 PM probably gonna be an easy ride. Like myself a few of us are taking our daily drivers. My 90 may or may not be done in time so i know I will be taking it easy and be a wuss this time round. reptillikus 05-09-2003, 10:31 PM Thats cool with me, mines still a daily driver, so i gotta play nice :D I was out there two weeks ago, and ran a great selection of trails... real hard stuff on saturday; nothin too hard on sunday (there were guys there in p'ups worried about body damage), but i had a blast on both days. If im in 4wd, im happy! Max 05-10-2003, 12:09 PM Unless I win the lottery, the '86's engine will not be back together in time for the run. So will most likely be taking the '94, stock Bronco that I use as a DD. So it won't be too much hard wheeling, because I have to drive it back a long ways. That's why I bought the '86 so I could barrel roll it 6 times and not care, just as long as it's still running. 80bronco 05-10-2003, 02:17 PM I think I am going to try to do what I can to make this ride jsut all depends on if the lift has come in by then cause if it has I may be wrenching instead. Wife said I cant order it until mid june when I have half the money saved. and I want it on before the end of july when I go to GWNF. drexelsteve 05-10-2003, 10:32 PM can the new new guy come too? i've been planning a trip up there for a while now but couldn't find anyone else to go with. Love to join u guys. send me some info 80bronco 05-11-2003, 12:16 AM What kind of info are you looking for here is a link to the sight with all the rules and reg to use and get to the park If you have any questions just ask as several of us have been there a few time www.paragonap.com Leonard 05-11-2003, 02:28 AM this is shapping up to be a good run can't wait need to get new engine done and tires ordered quick though. 80bronco 05-11-2003, 11:01 AM I think thats 8 now do you think we should get a guid eor are we jsut going to wing it I may now some that would do it for us. let me know and if you all are interested I can check with him. I agree with rept how many have been to paragon before and what mods do you all have done to your rigs so that those of us that have been before can figure out what trails to run ( tire size and type ie a/t or mud tires very important). I plan on bringing my 3 yr old for his first time so easy trails are fine with me. I ma thinkg the upper greens and lower blues Leonard 05-11-2003, 07:26 PM greens and blues sounds good as a start off plan, seeing as how it looks like most of us are running our daily drives and are still stock, at least suspension wise. i'm sure as the days move on we'll get in to the tougher stuff. and yup thats 8 by my count maybe 9 if gators buddy is still coming. reptillikus 05-11-2003, 07:29 PM I know a bunch of trails that we could run with some stock trucks, so thats not a real big issue. (in reference to Lee guiding....)As long as like 4 or so have been there, we'll be fine....im actually beginning to learn my way around the park now! Does anyone/everyone have CBs? I didnt know how great they were offroad till i got one 2 months ago. And in case anyone hasnt been there yet, you will need front and rear recovery of some sort, and no, holes in the frame dont count. Hooks up front would be nice (ive used mine twice there), and a hitch or hooks out back will work great. 80bronco 05-11-2003, 09:43 PM Yep I was thinking lee too buit ai am with you I think we can handle it with the new maps and the number of trips I have had to the park. I still thiunk we ran all of those trails backwards last time we went . oh well we had a blast gators0204 05-11-2003, 10:06 PM and yup thats 8 by my count maybe 9 if gators buddy is still coming. He's still coming. I think the last itme we were there we ran a couple trails backwards too :D drexelsteve 05-11-2003, 10:43 PM never been there before but can't wait to go. currently runnin 79 bronco, open diff's, 33inch at's, 4inch lift, hooks front n rear, cb. By the end of june i should have my 36 inch swampers and a spool in the rear. Anything else u guys recomend? reptillikus 05-11-2003, 11:05 PM Its always good to have a strap (no hooks on it), but they only require that someone youre riding with have one. If ya got one bring it, last time we needed to use 3 to get a truck free. (broke a winch cable) A garbage bag is required for removing any, well, garbage, but also to remove any contaminated soil, should coolant, oil, etc be spilled. I always stock up on extra supplies before i go out on a trailride. I just got a buddy of mine to go (hes got an 87 w/ 33s) so make that 10! drexelsteve 05-11-2003, 11:30 PM got straps, chains, no winch yet  . had a decent comealong till i wasted it yankin my buddy's suburban out. what's the situation with campin? 80bronco 05-11-2003, 11:59 PM red ridge is where I wil be camping going there for the first tiem this weekend to watc the nuewroc event. $25 a night for the camper with electic and water is a hell of alot cheaper than a hotel.... see you all in june num1intern 05-14-2003, 12:51 AM I'll see if I can make it. Truck needs to be worked since my recent trip though some quick sand. Max 05-14-2003, 09:48 PM I have to backout, I will not be making the trip. Leonard 05-14-2003, 10:25 PM doh, that sucks. maybe someother time then. gators0204 05-14-2003, 10:36 PM yea thats sucks, I was looking forward to wheel with ya. Max 05-14-2003, 11:32 PM Backing out due to the fact I'm moving 2 weeks before the run...moving out of state. Nice meeting you Will when I did, unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll get a chance to meet Dave. Oh well, have fun. Leonard 05-15-2003, 10:23 PM where ya moving to. drexelsteve 05-15-2003, 10:23 PM anybody wanna get together to cruise up there or are we all gonna meet there or what? anybody bringing beer (after wheelin only :) ) 80bronco 05-15-2003, 11:54 PM Hey I am going up this weekend to watch nueroc and will try to find a good palce to meet up and caravan the rest of the way let you all know when I get back gators0204 05-16-2003, 09:27 PM yeah, we should meet up and then caravan up there. bunch of broncos rolling down the highway would be cool. Accessory Man 05-16-2003, 10:12 PM yeah, we should meet up and then caravan up there. bunch of broncos rolling down the highway would be cool. That could conceivabley TOO COOL, I am still planning on being there already worked my schedule around it. As for camping, I don't know I might just Hotel it especailly if there are any good strip clubs around there. Rumor has it that the Carlisle Event is also that weekend so I might detuor to that. I have: 1) Strap which I hate but was a gift 1) Chain which I prefer and assorted other doo dads that I always carry I am *hoping* to have my lift kit by them, but doesnt seem likely, and I will grab at least one Hilift Jack from work And after reading some of the links on Trail Equipment I can understand why it would take 3 chains/straps to tow some of you all on level pavement  reptillikus 05-17-2003, 12:10 AM Im game for meeting up with people to caravan, but i dont think everyone is in my area. it would waste time for me (and everyone else) to meet up with people who already live in PA, but if anyone in central Nj wants to meet up, im game. Otherwise we can all meet in the staging area, itll be easy to find broncos in the lot, usually im one of the only fords there, and almost always the only fullsize. The park opens at 830, so we can meet then, before it gets busy, and itll also get us more time on the trail. If everyone has CBs, then we can pick a channel in advance, so that when everyone gets in the area we can give a yell. Im gonna crash in the area the night before, either at Red Ridge, or at one the hotels at the exit before Paragon, so ill be in the area all morning. Leonard 05-17-2003, 04:56 AM caravaning would be cool. if that doesn't happen we all know where the park is anyhow. as far as cbs go i'm gonna be shopping around for a hand held. hopefully i can find on at a decent price any recommondations. gators0204 05-18-2003, 01:16 PM knowing a channel ahead of time is good, so we can radio ahead to let everyone know we are coming. I guess our handles will be our names on here? gators0204 05-18-2003, 01:17 PM . as far as cbs go i'm gonna be shopping around for a hand held. hopefully i can find on at a decent price any recommondations. I bought a cheapo radioshack cb for 10 bux. Works great. Let me know if you dont get anything, I have 4 Cobra handhelds laying around. Leonard 05-18-2003, 06:08 PM thanks for tip dave i'll have to check it out when i get a chance. reptillikus 05-18-2003, 07:35 PM Yeah, we probably should pick a channel now   How many channels are those handhelds? I know the park uses 4 (or was it 5), but anything else is free to use. I say we pick an odd-ball channel, like 37 or 23 or something  Accessory Man 05-18-2003, 08:55 PM Well if your unit is properly tuned(by this I mean your CB  ) the closer to the center, meaning 19,20,21 the better it will perform. hats why 19 is a Popular channel. I'm 10-10 on the side gators0204 05-18-2003, 11:26 PM the handhelds have 40 just like regular cb's 80bronco 05-20-2003, 05:12 PM Well I wont be making this one seems I am going to be polling th eeng back out and tring to find out what the he!! is making the load as banging sound from the oil pan.....sucks I jsut got doen putting it in but that is just my luck maybe we can try to run again in sept or oct when the leaves are changing its awesome up there that time of year. of yeah as to red ridge it is kind of hard to find but the place is awesome they have 2 lakes 1 for fishing and one for swimming. they keep lake trout stocked in the second one and you pay $5 a day to the camp to fish...... kht428 05-26-2003, 01:15 AM been a while since i've logged in but still looking forward to the paragon trip!!! getting a caravan of broncos going up the ne extension sounds like the way to go. I believe it was gators that was in bensalem hopefully a couple others are close. drexelsteve 05-26-2003, 01:18 AM great, so where we gonna meet? kht428 05-26-2003, 02:51 AM How about meeting at the old ikea at the plymouth meeting mall that way we can hop right back on and start heading up looks like at least two will be coming from the trevose area and philly so this would be right at the entrance to 476 whether you come from 76 or 276 Accessory Man 05-26-2003, 03:44 AM Old Ikea??? It isnt still there???? as for meting is fine by me, if I don't go up friday, someone siad the campground has a stocked trout pond so i am thinking of taking a few extra days :) kht428 05-26-2003, 04:10 AM Yeah OLD Ikea! The building is still there but they moved to a new site over by the home depot off of ridge pike. But I think meeting at the Mall at the old building would be easiest. Right off the T-Pike and Blue Route just need to figure out time and how many people. drexelsteve 05-26-2003, 11:14 AM that'd work for me, so when's everybody leaving? friday night, saturday mornin? gators0204 05-26-2003, 11:39 AM sounds good to me too, and yup Im from Bensalem. kht428 05-26-2003, 01:57 PM I'm thinking that leaving friday would be best that way everyone can get to their campsites or hotels and unload and get any last tech done to vehicles before the morning run. reptillikus 05-26-2003, 02:54 PM yeah, ill be heading out friday after work, and either setting up a tent or hotel room. Not sure which yet. Accessory Man 05-26-2003, 03:20 PM I amwas Hoping to go up Thursday, prolly be friday morning I hope, if all that falls through, I'm down for meeting at the Old Ikea. I would go up sooner but we are hosting the Hooters car show Thursday night, at Hooters in Bensalem, you all should come show the bronco's. In fact this months show is this thursday, it isnt one my store sponsores but I am sure I will be there after I get off work at 8:00  Leonard 05-26-2003, 04:41 PM i'll probably be leaving sat. morning got work and school friday. ether way it suck but down to just one day the 28th got my goddaughters baptism on sunday. may actually have something i have to do on sat. to. kht428 05-27-2003, 12:22 AM Damn they're dropping like flies. Hey Leonard you do have something to do on saturday, offroading at paragon! Has anyone posted this event on this sites calendar or paragons calendar maybe it would stir up a little more interest? just a thought. drexelsteve 05-27-2003, 12:58 AM friday night sounds good to me, anybody else game? around 5 or 6? Leonard 05-28-2003, 10:30 PM yeah yeah i know kht428, if i remember right paragon opens at about 7am i think, i'm looking at leaving around 545 or 6 sat. reptillikus 05-28-2003, 11:04 PM Last time i was there (end of april) they opened at 830...but spring hours are now in effect, so i suppose it could be earlier. Accessory Man 05-28-2003, 11:07 PM Thats alot like work! I usually don't like to rise before the crack of noon, guess this is like fishing, a worthy exception  kht428 05-29-2003, 12:39 AM yeah thats the real reason i want to go up friday after work as opposed to the butt crack of dawn! yawn!!!!! :sleep Leonard 05-29-2003, 10:32 PM who said anything about having to get up??? Accessory Man 06-08-2003, 01:54 PM Ok, Everyone still going??? Anyone contact the campground??? Leonard 06-08-2003, 09:31 PM i'm still going even got new tires and cut outs for the trip. Accessory Man 06-08-2003, 11:08 PM Well thats 2 of us, I have plans to install my Trailmaster 4" lift kit on Saturday as long as it gets here by then, which I am assured it will. Leonard 06-08-2003, 11:09 PM sure make me jealous drexelsteve 06-08-2003, 11:36 PM still in, so when's everybody leaving. I figure i'll leave friday night n set up camp at red ridge. get an early start saturday. hopefully i'll have some new rubber by then. Accessory Man 06-08-2003, 11:46 PM Friday night or mid afternoon sounds good to me too, I am getting an alignment that day, gives my lift kit 2 weeks to settlle, and gives me the day to check everything and be sure it is tight before the alignment Don't forget Thursday June 26 Hooters car and truck show in bensalem!! reptillikus 06-09-2003, 11:58 PM Dont worry, by the end of the weekend, youll need another alignment anyway  I actually think im gonna crash at the motel i stayed at last time (Forrest Hill In, or something like that), its about the same amount of travel time from the park as red ridge is, and as an added bonus, i get to take a shower! But yeah, ill be heading up after work that friday, which means around 6. Should arrive in hazleton around 9. And ill be at the park at 830 sat. morning. Ill be parked at the top of the lot, most likely just past the trailer, so it should be pretty easy to find me. Accessory Man 06-10-2003, 12:07 AM Dont worry, by the end of the weekend, youll need another alignment anyway  I hope not, but if so thats OK. It is my olny vehicle, so even with the lift kit, I wont be going nuts  reptillikus 06-10-2003, 07:45 PM Ok, so by my count, we have 9 broncos (including myself) me leonard gators + 1, savage brat kht428 drexelsteve num1intern accessory man Did i miss anyone? I *might* have a buddy coming up with me in his truck, but he was recently laid off, so he might not be going now. Is everyone gonna be camping? drexelsteve 06-10-2003, 10:36 PM cool. looks like it'll be a pretty sweat run. Leonard 06-10-2003, 10:59 PM definatly be the biggest get together i've done so far. would like to stay the whole weekend but got my goddaughters christining on sunday. will be there for sure on saterday, morning to whenever. Accessory Man 06-11-2003, 12:04 AM bring the kid, they got water there...... gators0204 06-11-2003, 09:24 PM yea, we'll christin her in a bronco Accessory Man 06-11-2003, 10:02 PM My trip to Paragon is in Jeopardy, my lift kit has still not arrived. My help for this weekend is dwindled down to 2 high school kids. If we can't do it this weekend, next weekend is out becuase we have a show to work... and the following weekend is Paragon. I am exploring my options. I still want to find a way to go. First hings first, I need the kit in my hands. Leonard 06-11-2003, 10:23 PM even if you don't get the lift on come anyway most of us are wheeling stock rigs anyway. i wouldn't start putting it on and haveing to rush to get done, ya never know what your gonna run into. drexelsteve 06-11-2003, 10:31 PM good point, u really don't wanna rush it. and there's no shame in wheelin a stock bronco ;) I on the other hand ought to have my 35x14 ground hawgs by then. only thing i really have to get before the trip are a pair of spare driveshafts. Accessory Man 06-11-2003, 10:32 PM even if you don't get the lift on come anyway most of us are wheeling stock rigs anyway. i wouldn't start putting it on and haveing to rush to get done, ya never know what your gonna run into. See previous post in other section about my cracked radius arm bracket, my truck hasn't gone faster then 30 mph and over 2000 rpms in over a week kht428 06-12-2003, 12:17 AM Quick fix go to Als get new/used bracket drill out rivets remove nut install new/used bracket and bolt up with grade 8 hardware works great also easy way to replace bushings. then one side will be easier to do lift on when time allows in the meant time wheeling at paragon back on! Accessory Man 06-12-2003, 12:57 AM All the rivets are already replaced with grade 8 hardware, becuase of this crack my confidence level in the stock componants is not high. It is a daily driver, as for Al's, the only thing I hate more then doing the same job twice is bying parts I will only need for a few weeks. For that much I would have ordered it from ford. I will find a way. First thing is to get the kit in my hands, then I will find a way to get it on the truck. reptillikus 06-12-2003, 10:16 PM If it comes down to it, and you need the help, i may be able to free up some time to help out a fellow bronco owner. I think youre like an hour west of me, which is doable. I have a question though.....that trailmaster kit replaces the radius arm bracket? (My superlift kit reused it, but just in a different location. But then again, i have their extended arms.) Accessory Man 06-12-2003, 11:28 PM Yup, Trailmaster replaces the brackets and the arms, there is a frame crossmember added, and NO blocks in the rear, just a leaf with a heck of an arch to it. Hopefully since we are having shipping problems and the Trailmaster rep feels bad about it, he will be down to help. Trailmaster says the kit is an 8 hour install, he told me he can do it in 4, if I stay out of his way. I will just keep my fingers crossed and my options open. Leonard 06-13-2003, 01:37 AM i'll believe that when i see it a company rep coming out to install??????????????? Accessory Man 06-13-2003, 11:56 AM He has already done it for us Twice, once for our first lift kit, and once to help us fix a kit that was installed wrong by a place in New Jersey  92BIGBRONCO 06-13-2003, 12:32 PM My bronco is a daily driver too, I have a CB and like to drink beer and camp, is there anything I am missing? Im just outside of coatesville. Alot of PA'rs in here! Anyone wanna help me put in a new torque converter so I can go too?? Leonard 06-13-2003, 10:04 PM He has already done it for us Twice, once for our first lift kit, and once to help us fix a kit that was installed wrong by a place in New Jersey     thats about all i got to say about that. reptillikus 06-13-2003, 11:47 PM Thats pretty interesting, now you better get that lift kit installed, cause id love to see it installed on the truck! drexelsteve 06-16-2003, 12:05 AM it's gettin close, i can't wait. been tweekin my truck for the past three weeks. finally got around to puttin a stereo in, pan n valve cover gaskets, threw an hv pump in while i was in there(still no oil press. though:banghead) new ball joints, frt. bearings, repacked the hubs, and i even ghetto secured my bow'd ass superflex coils. all i gotta do is find some spare shafts n i'm good to go. So is anyone else gonna be campin at red ridge? gotta know how much brew to bring. and what's up with the cruise up there? anybody else leavin friday night? is that ikea thing still on? Leonard 06-17-2003, 01:19 AM i'm still up for meeting at ikea but not leaving till sat morning mainly cause i don't get home from school till around 9pm to late to take that kind of drive. kht428 06-17-2003, 12:52 PM I'm still in for Friday night figured around 6 or 7 anybody else? Accessory Man 06-17-2003, 01:25 PM I am still hoping to, lift kit has not yet arrived, and I am still to pig headed to replace a stock part with a stock part that I am only gonna through away in a few weeks :duh kht428 06-17-2003, 10:46 PM your'e a brave man I saw the rig parked outside your store the other day it must handle great!!? Accessory Man 06-18-2003, 12:36 AM Believe it or not, there is NO difference in handling, if I had not been under it looking for my t-case and tranny vents so I could do the whole extend and outfit with breather thing I read about in another post I would never have known it. It rides great, but I dont go more then 35mph max now. I have been told if I break it clean off I can drive it home, just if I do, no sharp turns and NO backing up. The break hasnt got any bigger, but I can't wheel with it like this. Should have a tuarus to drive by the end of the week, my friend with the car lot is hooking me up until the car sells on ebay. I still have Hopes to go, just prolly wont get it aligned until after the trip now, and I will bring more tools then I would have, to re-torque things if need be :banghead kht428 06-18-2003, 01:08 AM Ah yes the venerable work in progress oh what fun!!!! Accessory Man 06-18-2003, 01:32 AM Won't be so bad once it is paid for next August and I can get a Mustang for a second driver. But then that will be a work in progress too, but since they are both fords I can probably canibalize one to make the other run so I will always have something to get to the liquor store with :beer gators0204 06-18-2003, 11:31 AM Which side is the bracket cracked on? I have a spare used set for my 90, I need the d side cause I bent mine. Let me know i could run it up to you this way you have a "free" peice to use till you get the trailmaster ones. drexelsteve 06-18-2003, 11:50 PM friday's good for me. i could be there round 6ish. i figure we'll probalby have to phone ahead at the campground, then again callin paragon would probably be a good idea too. Unfortunatly money is becoming and issue as well, my commision check from last month was supposed to be for the trip, but I wound up having to pay $700 for the kit so, it could all be mute. I just want to get this kit on so I can think straight again :cry drexelsteve 06-19-2003, 11:09 PM one week and counting so let's get a headcount. who'd definitely going, when u leavin, where u stayin, who'd bringin what? lets get some kind of organization. Anybody know if there's a gas station nearbye to air up tires afterwards? i dont have OBA yet. Can't friggin wait!!! kht428 06-20-2003, 12:14 AM Well I think i was the one who made the "damn theyre dropping like flies" comment but now I may be one of the flies my wife is in the hospital and will need surgery so I'll probably need to take care of her depending on what happens we're hoping for the best because she was syched to go also but welcome to my life.:banghead :cry :shrug Leonard 06-20-2003, 12:54 AM man that sucks about your wife wish the best for you both. i'm heading up on sat morning, only staying the day but depending on where everybodys gonna stay i'll hang around for awhile later and down a few brews. reptillikus 06-20-2003, 10:56 PM Yeah, that sucks, i wish her the best! Im headin down after work friday night, still havent decided if im camping or staying at a hotel. Theres several in the area. Ill be there for both days, and may be bringing one or two other trucks with me. There are two or three gas stations in the area for airing up afterwards. One of them (i forget which offhand, but ill remember when i see it) has a much better air compressor, which means youll actually save a dollar or two airing back up afterwards. (i really need to fiinish my oba setup) by the way.....since its been raining pretty much non stop since like march or something, its gonna be pretty muddy there in places....i hope everyone has extened their vent lines! Theres two or three that i just love that id like to go on again, but im game for just about any trail (cept for those black 2 & 3 trails, theyre scary:eek: :D) drexelsteve 06-22-2003, 10:11 PM lets have another headcount. who's definitely going, where u stayin, when u leavin where are we gonna meet? I'm leavin afterwork friday night and i'm down with meeting at the old ikea. Lets say 6:30. I'll be stayin at redridge. Bringin 2cases of beer, some weiners, marshmallows, ought to be a good time. Accessory Man 06-22-2003, 11:05 PM I am still in limbo, but have friday off so timing will be no problem assuming I have the kit, and I don't have to spend much money installing it.... ie. bolts, meals for my helpers etc. :shrug Leonard 06-23-2003, 12:09 AM i'm still in but gonna have hell figuring out a brake prob. other then that everythings going as sheduled, when i leave depends on if my dad wants to come along if he doesn't i'll probably ditch school early and head up friday if he does probably sat. morning. can only stay the day but if i remember right the park closes at 6 so be more then happy to sit around a fire and toss back a few. anybody got cb's??? drexelsteve 06-23-2003, 01:03 AM i've got a cb, and plenty of beer. what kinda brake problem u havin? i could lend a hand if u need it:thumbup Leonard 06-24-2003, 01:02 AM thanks for the offer but got it figured out in school today, i replaced the drums and shoes on sun. and some how a shit load of air got in to the system but all good now. Accessory Man 06-24-2003, 02:48 PM Ok, D$%^&*nmit, I did what I HATE doing, I ordered a replacement stock bracket. looks like my lift is going to be a while, and my help ers and use of the shop to install a while longer. So, my bracket should be here tommorrow, I should have it installed tommorrow as well baring any major screw up. So I AM going. Stock height, no ruff stuff, I can't afford a tow home. I will, either be going up Friday afternoon, or I am willing to do the Ikea meeting thing, as I will prolly be doing some fine tuning on friday since I took off. drexelsteve 06-24-2003, 07:12 PM excellent:thumbup well i had the truck on the lift today, goin over everything and found a serious problem. My rear driveshaft's shot:banghead I knew it was goin south but i didn't know it was as bad as it is. Now i've gotta find/build/steal a new one. Does anyone around have a spare rear driveshaft 79-auto layin around? if not i'll have to pull something outa my aZZ. no fear, i wouldn't miss this trip for the world. Accessory Man 06-25-2003, 01:10 AM I am hoping to stay at Red Ridge, anyone call ahead and reserve us a small peice of ground? reptillikus 06-25-2003, 05:08 PM Youll definitely need to go to Red Ridge first, as Paragon doesnt allow alcohol in the park, and yes they will check your coolers. drexelsteve 06-25-2003, 06:13 PM i'll call them tonight or tomorrow, how many sites do we need? I'm gonna stay up tonight n try to figure out a decent set of trails to take. Since i never got around to gettin a new driveshaft, i'd rather not take anything too hardcore but i figure a lot of green, a few blue, and at least one black. if i'm bein a bitch let me know(never been thereso i cant guage the difficultyl) gonna try to get a bbq, some burgers n weiners, 2 cases of yuengling ( leftovers) if i'm missin anything let me know. I cant recall which Spare Tire i ran last time, if it was inner or outer, but i think it was inner, and it was a freakin killer trail. i seem to recall Rock Swamp (#86) being cool, but i dont really remember. Note: there are requirements for running black trails....namely 33" or larger tires, 3" lift and one locker. So if you really want to run one, dont tell the park staff you will be. I ran Rattler (Black 1), and it was pretty damn hard to do, even with my tires/lift/locker. Expect body damage. On that note, im down for running anything, but i really want to run Spare Tire, its just too cool. Leonard 06-26-2003, 11:03 PM sounds like a sweet trip. i'm hoping to leave on fri. probably won't be till later on around 7-8 need some last minute things hopefully a cb so somebody keep one on. if ican't find one my cell is (610) 324 0775. i really don't care what trails we run when i was there never really paid any attention to the names just kinda pick'em as we went, ended up running a few backwards. we gonna stay to the rocks and trails or hit the mud as well. gators0204 06-26-2003, 11:24 PM Hey leonard I will try and remember to bring handhelds, since your to lazy to buy a cb:goodfinge J/K My number is 267 259 1012 if anyone needs to get in touch with me. I didnt get it fixed early enough to even try to make it to Paragon by late Saturday afternoon, so i didnt bother going to the park till Sunday. I heard you guys had some fun on the trail, though! We'll have to try this again, and maybe ill actually make it there on time, and in one piece :o :brownbag gators0204 06-30-2003, 01:00 AM Yea, awesome time. Me and Vince overheated on the way home, had to get towed. 270 each:shocked Our rads were clogged up with more mud than the trucks had on them. We cleaned his lastnight, flushed it and changed the thermostat. Im bout to do that now. Oh his runs fine now. Also have a leak in the rad. We were curious to know if yours was running hot too Matt?? Since all 3 of us had the same problems. Accessory Man 06-30-2003, 02:54 PM Yeah, I made it home ok. Still running hot, Very hot even with the heat on. I slowed down to 50MPH after Keith got off at his exit and it cooled a bit. I don't think it is the fan cluth, funny though it wont get hot at idle. I am gonna pull the grill shell this weekend and separate the condenser, and the trans cooler and clean between that crap, prolly change the hoses and flush the system, do a thermostat. So far ran great to work today, and ran to the store last night after I was home for an hour or so with the extra cooler ice dumped on it. When we going back huh??? September maybe, when its a little cooler for wrenching in the dirt. If you can send me any pics of mine, I wanna get a poster made for work. :toothless drexelsteve 06-30-2003, 02:57 PM damn:banghead wish we had your cell #s cause mat had the same problem!!! we flushed his rad 2 times it was still overheatin. I was overheated a few times on the trail yesterday. It was all the mud caked on the motor. I think it might be the fan clutch that went bad on matt's. gators0204 06-30-2003, 02:58 PM No problem I've got a pic or 2 with you in it. Yer nuts..... and I am jealous, i can't wait for my lift :thumbup Thanks to gators and Steve for sending the pics. Gators, you didnt need to get them towed, just sit and wait for them to cool, ad drive a little further, and do it again, that was our plan, luckily, we got it clean enough I didnt have too, but it ran HOTT!!! seems fine today, although I didnt drive a whole lot gators0204 06-30-2003, 11:49 PM I tried that, it started coming out of the overfill box. drained, flushed and cleaned all the mud outta the rad. Lots of mud, took about a half hour. Runs cooler than it ever did now though. LOL, i seem to hear that alot:shrug :D I had to do that hill climb, especially after that 'incident'. damn that rock! Gators, is your vibration constant, or does it vary with speed? Or, does it only occur at a certain speed? kht428 07-01-2003, 01:09 AM Just getting around to getting online. Glad to hear everybody got home ok with a few exceptions. couldnt you guys get a group discount on the tow? Well lets see damage count for my bronco: steering stabilizer, both outer tie rods, inner tie rod, drag link, gas tank, transfer case skid plate, left rear fender(damn tree). Gas tank will be in tomorrow along with fuel pump assembly. Special Thanks to all who went and lent a hand in the repair of vehicles. Especially to leonards dad :thumbup an expensive weekend but well worth it. Looking forward to the next run. I'm still planning on doing the charity ride in august at paragon and rausch creek hopefully with a little less damage. I still cant believe how straight my truck drives with my backwoods alignment.? lets start planning another ride hopefully before august. drexelsteve 07-01-2003, 01:22 AM i second that, dude you're nutz:thumbup So was it just the wheel or did u kill the tire too? I'll have to try that hill after i get a longer shaft:histerica i've got a pretty wicked thumpin sound goin into second. Its right under the drivers seat so i think it'll have somethin to do with a trans mount or something. on sunday we found a few trails that u all would have loved. One was a REALLY tight twistie through the trees, really steep, sharp turns and some mud to make for some "skiing". Thats where i hit a few trees, slid right into one n gave my bronc a black eye. Another time i took a turn n sideswiped a tree. almost tore the pass side mirror off. if i can get digitalpose.com to cooperate i'll post my pics:banghead i figure we'll give it a month or 2 to recover before we go up there again, can't wait though. Leonard 07-01-2003, 01:26 AM thats good to know you didn't have to much trouble with the truck. When'd you bust your tank, sunday?? I think i know the trail your talking about steve. if it is i damn near creased the whole side of my truck when i did it. Definatly can't wait for the next time godda to that crossing again but a little slower next time. :brownbag drexelsteve 07-01-2003, 01:31 AM got the pics workin so i'm gonna start a new thread in general section kht428 07-01-2003, 01:35 AM Yeah busted my tank on sunday on the same trail that got my rear fender. Had to have steve and accessory man stack rocks to get me turned around and back down hill trail was a blue 2 (yeah right) I cant belive what a stock bronco will do. We were talking about it on the ride home I think we should do a pine barrens run some time in the near future should be a lot less damage and could probably get more people to show up. And doesnt require any major modifications. drexelsteve 07-01-2003, 01:40 AM got an awsome pic of your rear quarter. i'd leave it, it only hurts the first time:thumbup reptillikus 07-01-2003, 09:08 AM Originally posted by drexelsteve i second that, dude you're nutz:thumbup So was it just the wheel or did u kill the tire too? So....when're we going back.....?:D drexelsteve 07-01-2003, 01:32 PM i kinda like the idea kh428 had about a trip to the pine barrens in jersey. the sand would probably be a lot more forgiving than the rocks were. Accessory Man 07-01-2003, 02:53 PM I am in for a pine barrens trip let me know when:D reptillikus 07-01-2003, 09:13 PM So am i, as long as its legal. kht428 07-01-2003, 09:30 PM I thought as long as you stayed on established trails it was ok to wheel in the barrens. You're from NJ reptilikus do you know something we PA' ers don't. I'm so tired of finding trails closed. I normally go down 206 and start taking trails. Have run into rangers and never had a problem. But have never seen any rules or laws regarding vehicle usage. Leonard 07-01-2003, 10:06 PM the barrons aren't bad ya just get lost real easy. i'd be up for it. gators0204 07-01-2003, 10:27 PM [i] Gators, is your vibration constant, or does it vary with speed? Or, does it only occur at a certain speed? its constant at like around 35-50? Im gonna do a thorough check tomorrow, maybe the driveshaft needs tightning. Im down with the Barrens. gators0204 07-01-2003, 10:29 PM Originally posted by kht428 I cant belive what a stock bronco will do. . After what we did, im suprised also.:thumbup reptillikus 07-01-2003, 11:08 PM As long as you know of a legal spot. I stay away from the area mainly cause its very rare that im ever down that way, so i dont know what trails are open or closed, and the Rangers usually dont like to hand out that kind of info easily. (or so i hear) Over the past year, NJ has really been crackin down on 4wheelers, and pretty soon there wont be any legal spots left :bs Gators, id def. check your d.s, but thats is also the same speed range that out-of-balace front tires give off vibes. Do a quick check to see if you didnt skip a weight off a rock while at the park.....thatd be great if your problem was something that simple! gators0204 07-02-2003, 02:36 AM I sure hope its something as simple as that.:brownbag Kurt Rohmer 03-15-2004, 02:15 AM Sounds like fun. Have cash for gas money, and finally got 4LO working. Need to try out my rig. Problem is... Where is Paragon, how do I get there. I am in New Haven CT. But will travel ANYWHERE in the Northeast. I just need two or three days heads-up time. |
