Any one here have their yards Zeroscaped?

I know its popular in NM, AZ, etc. because of the heat and water shortages, but I am really thinking about doing it here at my place eventually.

Just curious if the people who have it; like it, or what they would do different?
Suggestions, etc.

I dont want to go all crazy, with bridges, streams with fish, or any of that crap, I just want some rocks or different shapes, sizes, color, and some bushes shrubs whatever that dont require a lot of attention. Maybe throw in a center piece with some wood chips to mix it up a bit, but the main point I want to accomplish is to eliminate maintenance, and eliminate watering.

In Florida people just cover their yard in white rock. Which quickly becomes a shit-brown ugly color.

I think you are referring to xeriscaping? it is very popular around here and looks great when done right. Take a look at this site for starters.

Cool, great link ScorpionBoy, I have a spot right between my garage and house that is kind of wasted space, I would love to do something like xeriscaping. Actually there are a couple other spots in my yard that would be awesome to do this to.

i think id rather mow the grass then do that much weeding....... just b.c you throw mulch down doesn't mean weeds won't grow

you have to consider the difference in climates/precipitation between FL and CO or AZ. very different. plus, you prolly don't have to worry about +100 water bills to maintain a little sod.

Yup, sorry when someone "told me" what its called it sounded like he said "Zero-scape" He must have meant that, but it may sound similar. I dunno, but the point is Scorpion boy knows what I mean.

Something to the lines of what is in the pictures on that web site, but not some of those crazy assed ones where it looks like a king lives there.

Just simple. Just of the top of my head, I wouldnt do the white rock, I think I would want to do a Moab Red Dirt style rock since you can buy rock in whatever color you want. Then have a few boulders and cacti, shrubs, etc. I think a MOAB theme would kick ass, then when I park my next rock crawler on the "front lawn" it wont look out of place :histerica :histerica :histerica

If by "pay" you mean "doesnt pay"....you have something called a "well"...which is free.

Depending on your pay rate, the electricity to run your pump can cost more than what the water does.
I say wells suck no matter what
