View Full Version : I grew up in the most dangerous city.
poopy_pants 10-30-2006, 04:30 PM Not sure if I should be proud of this (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061030/ap_on_re_us/city_crime_list) or not. But St. Louis has been named the most dangerous city, beating out DETROIT and COMPTON. It makes sense though. At least four people I know have been robbed at gunpoint 8 blocks or so from my house, and a guy died 2 months ago across the street from me after he was knifed in a fight. Does this mean I am a badass now?

They all re-load at the same time, slows things down a bit. Compton will reign supreme.
ScorpionBoy 10-30-2006, 04:53 PM Last time i was in St. Louis i couldn't wait to get out. that is one big stankhole.
poopy_pants 10-30-2006, 04:59 PM Yeah...St. Louis is hard to love, but I do love it.
When I first came to Colorado for school I was shocked by how nice and trusting people here were. In St. Louis you have NOBODY come up and talk to you ever, here its kinda scary how friendly some people are. You aren't sure if they actually want to talk to you, or just take your money in St. Louis.
Rudster 10-30-2006, 05:09 PM Having worked here in downtown Los Angeles (18th/Flower/Washington streets) for nearly 18 years, I can attest to the crustation. I have meth/crack dealers showing up friday nights, using the alley way like a "farmers market".
Haven't rolled up on a dead body yet, but it'll happen.
O.D.B. 10-30-2006, 05:38 PM I was kinda suprised to hear this. But it might be ignorance too. My only St. Louis experiences have been at either Busch Stadium or the whatever it is called now Dome. Damn. I would have guessed Gary, IN or East St Louis, IL before STL. I only know Compton from the media but it sounds bad too.

You gotta go to Stanton for that. Back in the 80s there were a total of 6 murders and shootouts on the corner where my father's building was. It got so commonplace that people woudl just drive around the bodies in the street on their way to work.
96broncoman 10-30-2006, 06:49 PM Isnt DC a bad city too?? I expected it to be on the list. i have always heard about detroit and Compton though.
87EBBronco 10-30-2006, 07:10 PM Damn, I was surprised to even see San Angelo on the list, let alone at 155! Guess the bario is rougher than I knew.
jerelight 10-31-2006, 09:26 AM Reading Pa (which I lived near my whole life) is 20th in that list at number 351 (best city was first)
firelt90bronnco 10-31-2006, 09:34 AM Here is the city I work in #24 Hartford, CT, now I know why I'm in the NRA. The city wants me to move in, but I won't leave my quiet town.
96broncoman 10-31-2006, 09:42 AM wow, i didnt realize how far down the list went. i live in #329, Charlotte. kinda surprised that there were like 5 othere cities in NC that beat us out...guess thats good though.
SSgtTEX 10-31-2006, 10:16 AM 1 city im in a lot, Montgomery is 298, Birmingham 366(#6), Huntsville isnt even on the list

IIRC DC is still the murder capital of the world I believe. I don't remember if it's per capita or not.
willjones4 11-02-2006, 02:06 PM At the risk of sounding racist-which I am btw:goodfinge -you can bet your ass ANY place with a large minority population will be a bad place-St Louis definitely fits the bill-think about it and tell me Im wrong-you didnt see any cities with large white populations on that list did you? My damn town (Shreveport) is 53% black-we're on most of the lists-that's why Im gettin the farq outta here and heading somewhere very white before my son starts school (he's 2 now).
