Well its now official. We just put my son on the bus bound for Lackland Air Force Base and Basic Training. He starts tomorrow 1 Nov. The only regret I have is they talked him into going Open General so hopefully he'll be as lucky as I was and gets a job he wants.

You should be very proud of him, it takes guts to go in the military. I am currently looking into becoming an air force firefighter.

Oh I am proud of him, VERY proud. I was AF for 14 yrs so he's kinda following my footsteps. Stang, I'll definately PM ya around graduation time too. I'll be taking some vacation so I can be there too. Maybe we can meet when we come down.

Congrats....and just be glad he went chair force(just kidding flyboys) and not Army or USMC.....those are the guys who really have to put their lives on the lines. Not that the USAF doesnt put their lives on the lines (mostly pilots or PJ's) but its nothing compared to the life of grunt.
I always tell my younger bro to go Navy or USAF if you want to live.
Hope he does well and makes a career for himself. It will definately be a good life experience. You should be very proud.:usa

Tell him to keep his mouth shut, enjoy the friends he makes, and get ready for the experience of a lifetime.
