posted this in general chit chat, but hindsight was not a good idea, so here it is again:

I've seen pics of the stock superduty mounts that look like this, only for a single shock. Just wondering if anyone has them, has a pic so I can see if I can modify a stock one, or whether I have to fab it all up. Also curious what the cost of the stock one is from the factory.

here's is what I plan to make, any suggestions?:

The pic is from offroad design or something, and they want $150 for those dual superduty mounts, which is crazy.

I thought I was going to make a tubular upper, but I really like the simplicity of this. will still fit in the wheelwell with no cutting of the plastic liner, and will work nicely with the lower cage mount, with a little mod down there. Will likely cost me $20 in plate steel. simple/strong, not overly heavy, and easy to fab.

Here's another place selling a dual superduty upper shock mount, this one is made by donahoe racing:

make that center sleeve as long as reasonably possible if you want to run single shear like that. other than that looks like a fun little dealio.

pm jrd he has something similar to that... the single shock version has a stud that sticks out 90 degree from the frame

not following you Andy. yes it would be single shear up top (I believe the cage shocks I'm using take a 1/2" bolt). You mean the tube up top, make long? I think the tube will only be about 1.5" total length, just enough to move the shock outward about .5" on each side.

I wonder with shocks, does one side see more force than the other? I mean, just thinking, the lower mount is single shear right now, I would think the same force of controlling the up/down suspension movement would be felt equally at both eyes of the shock, right? i.e. would not matter that one end has the rod and the other is the shock body.

Ok Mark here's what my stock SD shock mount looks like. I think it would be easier to fab up your own rather than modify, but thats JMO.

Thanks.

Ok, so although it is similar, it would probably be just as much work trying to redo one of these vs. fabbing one from scratch.

So what does everything think of the design. I realize it's not blingy like a tubular dual shock mount, but I think it will work slick, look kinda stock like a superduty mount. Any issues anyone sees with the material thickness used?
