Got my Kennesaw Mtn rear bumper in today. I'm dissapointed with some aspect and pleased in others.

Pics for starters

Some welds look better than others. Lots of slag left over in areas and a couple of welds are sloppy. Overall though, I am pleased with those.
Although for a bumper that is specifically made for a Bronco the brackets sucked. The upper part of the bracket hasn't been shortened up so the center bolt hole couldn't be drilled out to 1/2". (pics to come). I was also pretty pissed that the brackets weren't pre drilled.

I had the receiver made "flush" with the bottom of the bumper. I wanted it to be flush with the front side of the bumper...such as life though.

Here you see what I was talking about with the brackets

After quite a few hours I had it on

They ****ed this up pretty good. If you look at the pad, you shouldn't have to pick up the spare carrier to latch it. I'm going to have to take a grinder to it to make it work out.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/456247/fullsize/img_5623.jpg

The license plate bracket sucked so we had to play with some options.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/456250/fullsize/img_5626.jpg

When the license plate is where it is supposed to be, it gets in the way of the rear shackle (and it looks like shit)

The final setup

It did get here really quickly though and it is a solid bumper that's for sure. I just think that there are many things that could have been done better. I will be contacting the owner tomorrow and discussing my issues. I'll update with what their response is.

600 seems like alot for something with that many problems... But I guess if it didn't have all the Quirks that would be right...

I would send it back to them and tell them to solve it up their ass. Thats plain shitty work there. Looks like they cut alot over corners just to knock out a bumper. like not predrilling holes. not to mention the mount being square so it cant have all 3 bolts in it. They should have cut that plate in such a way to fit into the space provided. I can get all 3 bolts on my bumper just fine!

the tire mount looks sketch too. Not sure I would trust say a 35 hanging off there.

that is a lot for a product that appears to need some fixing.

There's no way I'm sending it back...but some compensation would be nice. They definately did cut corners though, I am not impressed.

I talked to Jackhart on the phone earlier. He had the same bumper on his truck. He said that he had no issues w/ any of the things I did.

It will suit my needs....but I want other people to be aware that this company isn't flawless and that some of the rumors on the web are true.

when i ordered mine, i called them ahead of time and told them that i needed the bumper by a certain date to attend an FSB event - both to make sure i got the bumper on time, and to make sure they understood 300 FSB owners would be checking out their handywork...i may have exaggerated ever so slightly on the attendance, but, well, you do what you gotta do...;)

i had issues with my hi-lift attachment (the bolts didn't line up), and there was no tab to stop the tire carrier from swinging all the way around and denting my rear quarter panel, which it did...i had to weld my own tab, but i understand they have fixed that problem now. my welds were pretty clean and i didn't have the problems ian had (well i did relocate my license plate to the bumper itself after moving it several times in various locations)...i would definitely call them and bitch.

I can see it now

"300 people will be there with 800 rigs, this truck will be the center of attention and I need this bumper for the price of say.. On the house"

hmm... as a poor college kid that learned to weld building bronco bumpers, that looks pretty shitty especially for the price. Call them, bitch and them and call them again if necessary. I'd agree with Dustin on the tire carrier too, looks kind like it would be suitable for a space saver spare but not much else

Does the tailgate hit it when opened?

Stang-- Thanks for posting about the bumper... and not jumping to any conclusions before giving the company time to correct their work.

I did the same thing.

No

That's the thing though. They have been building bumpers for a few years. How long does it take to get the kinks worked out?

At least you are closer to them. You or Gacknar could drive over there and pay a visit or two.

wow, thats a bummer that it took so much work to bolt on. i would definitely keep the bumper and aim to get some compensation from them.

Stangamta you gotta feel bad enough as it is so I won't say anything negative.

But I would like to say that I admire your effort to make it a quality product. Folks willing to jump in and do extra work - even if they should not have to - just because they do not want inferior parts on their trucks are all to scarce!

Good job! :rockon :rockon

No, that is the pin lock. The pad is the closer chunk of steel.

They are in Douglassville on Brightstar road.

I'm calling them now. I'll update later if I get an answer.

They are in Douglassville on Brightstar road.
8858 Brightstar road, Douglasville Ga.

Google earth puts it right next to where FPS use to be and just down from Turners feed, and Georgia hydroulic cylinder. They may be in John "O" Morris's old building
(but I thought David was in that building)

Eitherway, I am verry familure with the area.

I drove post there a few weeks ago and usualy end up over there about once a month.

Let us know if they make it right.

If they do I might have some work for them.

If they dont I might have a flaming bag of poo for them.

Either way it's gonna be a fun time for everybody.

I couldn't get ahold of them earlier. I'll try again and update once I finally get an answer.

None yet. I have been attempting to call regularly with still no answer.

Dave is always backed up (no offense, Dave...just got the "itch") and big mike isn't doing them. I have read that Kennesaw has given some people issues, but jackhart got a high quality product from them so I figured I'd go for it. I mean, honestly, overall it is a solid piece of metal and I wouldn't doubt it's integrity at all...but I shouldn't have had the issues I have.

I will fight this tooth and nail, regardless of the amount of effort it takes me. I hate when companies do this and get away with it. Especially when it's my money.

I am sorry you got such a pice of s#*t bumper. All I can say is it cost alot of time and money to make a quality bumper and they obviously skimped on that. I am not trying to advertise myself but that is exacly what we do not do at my business. Every weld is perfect on ours and everything fits perfectly and easily. You get what you pay for. It's a bit late now but we are currently working on a rear bumper with tire carrier. I would say return it and get your money back regardless if you get another or not.

The problem was that I didn't see any of it until it was too late, other than the holes not being drilled, which I can live with. It took me until I got the bumper ont he truck to realize the rest.

Besides, if I sent it back, that is a total in $250 in shipping that I would need to argue to try and get back. If they don't give it back then I need to get the BBB involved etc etc etc. To me, this way makes more sense. Although, if they don't answer their phone, I may need to get the BBB involved.

well i was sorta serious about calling from a different number, they could know they sent you something sub-par and are avoiding you. ive had it happen before, i ordered a 100ci v-twin and when i got it it was scratched to hell, fins were bent and all the bolts were loose, so i called and called and eventually put it in my truck, drove 3hrs there and said gimme another one. which they did and ended up paying for my gas.

Chalk another one up for a unsatisfied Kennesaw bumper--I'm one as well. I would never reccomend that dipshit Kyle or anything that company would build.

Phuck Them,
Brian
