while were at it, anyone ever make skidplates to cover your oilpan, and tranny pan?

how bad is it, you cant just hammer it back into shape? if not, JBG might have one. otherwise, just get some 1/4" and bend it up

The stock skid plate leaves something to be desired. I built mine and it'll support the weight of the entire truck

ive seen yours todd, and i like it. i want it to be able to support the whole weight of the truck. looks like i may just try to build one next week while im on break.

I built my own T-Case skid out of 3/16" steel. I also built a trans pan skid plate as well.

just burn some 1/4 on the bottom of the stock one (a non bent one). that should help it considerably

Build your own. Mine is tucked up so tight that I never hit it on anything.

when i made it I left the back open due to I wanted to be able to hose out any mud or dirt that collected in it.

Red, why isnt the front sloped? Doesn't it catch on rocks and stuff?

how hard is 3/16 to bend without a bender?

its got a very slight slope...and it really doesnt sit any lower the trans crossmember, havent hung up on any rocks yet.:rockon

Mine wasn't too difficult to form. It's a solid sheet of 3/16" steel from framerail to framerail, formed around the t-case. I rolled the front up so it doesn't hang up. There is also a cross brace from the low point on the skid to the drivers side framerail for extra strength.

If you decide not to make one and you want a stock I got one you can have for $10 + sh. I'm leaving Sat morning to go hunting. I'll be gone a week but if you want it PM some time in the next week and I can get it out 11/27 or some time that week.

Red whats the channel for? next to the box?

i thru that in there for strength...figured the flat stock would flex to much if I landed on a rock...so used L channel to reinforce it.

After I get rid of my dual exhaust that stock skid plate is definitely out of there. As it sits now though my flowmasters hang way below the frame rails, it totally interferes with a nice simple skid plate. Damn it.

you can get metal shops to put bends in for you, shouldnt cost much and you have to buy the metal anyways

BrokeCuzWheelin

To bend it you can also always just clamp it to the end of a bench, heat it up, and wack it with a hammer. Might not look perfect, but hell, it's a skidplate.
