I was gonna buy an Excursion that was for sale here on base, real sweet Limited with the DVD player 4x4 and 7.3L but could never get ahold of the guy selling it, finally did tonight and he's in the process of selling it:banghead
Anyway if I can find another one in the same price range we may buy it but I wanna know if they are like the equivalent of an F-250 as far as towing is concerned??? The truck had a 10K hitch but I wanted to know if I could tow a bit more if the hitch was upgraded (well mainly to know if I needed to I could, 10K is around what I would tow with it regularly)

I just sold my excursion a few months back, It towed like there was nothing behind it at all. My friend has an excursion with the 7.3 and tows a huge ass boat all the way up the hill to tahoe. He says it pulls like a dream. I loved mine, and hated parting with it.

Yeah, they are the equivalent, except the Excursion has all that extra weight on there that the F250 doesn't, so you have to include that in the difference of what they'll tow.

My stepdad's excursion used to tow like a dream too. The motor and most of the driveline wasn't anything near stock though.

edit: doh, wrong person, dunno what I was thinkin...

Little bit under the GWVR of certain F-250s, but still will tow a friggin freight train.

I've got an 05' and like everyones been saying, they will tow a house. Mines got the 6.0 Turbo and even towing my buddies Yukon I use for mudbogs I can hardly tell it's back there. Definetly go with the diesel.

Thanks again guys. 24K is about 10 out of our price range, which makes it hard to find anything. But I think we are gonna go with an expedition (we need the 8 pass) and we were gonna get the towing for heavy equipment with the excur, but now I will just have to find an old 1 ton instead of the half ton I was planning on using as my beater/ landscaping rig.

I have a 2000 limited with the V10 and 4.36 gears, it tows great. Get about 10mpg towing my 78 Bronco or a 25' travel trailer.
