ALot of you guys who are into computers have probably heard of Newegg.com. You've probably ordered from them, or at least shopped/cruised their site. You probably know that they have some of the best prices around for computer hardware, and that they stay competitive on their prices.

Well, I just had my second bad experience. Correction: I'm going through my second bad experience with them. My first bad experience would have ran most people off, but I decided to give them a second chance. Back in April, I got a nice fat income tax return, over $1300. I spent it on some serious computer hardware, enough to make even the hardcore geeks in my unit jealous, which kinda was the idea. Anyonew who's been stationed overseas knows that the best way to get a package from the states is to have it insured...it keeps people honest. Well, Newegg didn't insure the package, and sure enough, it never arrived. Long story short, it wasn't until July that I got about $900 worth of hardware, and a partial refund of the difference. I lost about $150, they claimed something about fees or price differences. I even filed a complaint with the CA Better Business Bureau, to try to expedite the refund. It took three months to get compensated. That would drive alot of people away.

I've been a Newegg customer for years, so I gave them a sedcond chance, and before this, they delivered. Now, I'm supposed to put together a computer for my sister for Christmas BEFORE I leave for Oklahoma. We ordered the parts and paid for the three day shipping via UPS. Well, Newegg didn't have all the parts in the same warehouse, so the shipment got split. One package fron NJ, the other from CA. I needed this order here by Friday at the very latest. I leave on Saturday. The CA package isn't getting here until Monday. After spending an hour in live chat with a Newegg rep, all I could get promised was $15 credit and an apology.

I'm not going to say don't buy from them, because it's hard not to. But I will say don't place large orders with them, because they tend to screw those up bad. Smaller orders, I haven't had a problem with. But large orders, meaning over $800, tend to get botched up. Be careful.

btw: I sent an email to Mark, the owner of Frozen CPU, and asked him what it would take for him to sell computer hardware. All they sell is modding hardware and extreme cooling solutions for performance computers. He said maybe someday........... love you and thanks!!!

I have purchased from them in the past with no problems, but only once have they had something that I couldn't find for less elsewhere, and the difference was by $10. I go to pricewatch.com which is like froogle, but for computers only.

ive only had one problem with newegg. but it was a weird problem. Order placed, back ordered, somehow got canceled, then went oh yeah, i did get my overnight shipping back and it was shipped for free.

Other then that, never had a problem. And that includes dropping about 1500-1800 on computer hardware at once, two times. (I build computers on the side to try and make a few extra bucks)

i had a something like that happen to me. but not that bad. they took care of me but i got lucky. i bought about 700 worth for hardware to build the computer im on now. well they ended up sending me the wroung proceser. i ordered a 3200+ and they sent me like a 2700 or 2800+, well i dident really look when i put it toghter and about a week later i fryed it, well i pulled it out to look at it and it wasnt a 3200+. so i figured there was NO WAY newegg would back it, but they were cool about it they send one as soon as i sent the old one in. then i was haveing some problems with my harddrive but they backed that also.

I've had WAY more good things with Newegg than I have bad. They've always given me an RMA when I needed one, and all that. I do have problems with some of their policies. One being that they kill you on shipping because they price the shipping per item, not the total of what you've ordered, and the other is that they do not price match. By comparison, they charge an arm and a leg for the "nickel-and-dime" stuff, like cables, fans, fanbuses, and other things that tend to go unnoticed. They want $3 for a blue SATA cable, with another $5 for shipping. Frozen CPU wants $4 per SATA cable...any color, any length, any style, and their shipping is based on the weight of the package, and your location. Newegg will not match them.

Things like that I'm willing to overlook, but when something bad happens that's big, it's like salt in the wound.

I've had problems with Frozen CPU though too. Ordered a power supply and they canceled the order for no aparent reason. It was just a pain. No company is perfect, if you do business with one long enough something will happen.

Wow, I've never had a bad experience with newegg. That's surprising as they're usually pretty good with dealing with screw ups. Sorry to hear that though.

I got a BB ATI x850 pro agp for 100 bucks from them, no one could touch that price.
