ALot of you guys who are into computers have probably heard of Newegg.com. You've probably ordered from them, or at least shopped/cruised their site. You probably know that they have some of the best prices around for computer hardware, and that they stay competitive on their prices.
Well, I just had my second bad experience. Correction: I'm going through my second bad experience with them. My first bad experience would have ran most people off, but I decided to give them a second chance. Back in April, I got a nice fat income tax return, over $1300. I spent it on some serious computer hardware, enough to make even the hardcore geeks in my unit jealous, which kinda was the idea. Anyonew who's been stationed overseas knows that the best way to get a package from the states is to have it insured...it keeps people honest. Well, Newegg didn't insure the package, and sure enough, it never arrived. Long story short, it wasn't until July that I got about $900 worth of hardware, and a partial refund of the difference. I lost about $150, they claimed something about fees or price differences. I even filed a complaint with the CA Better Business Bureau, to try to expedite the refund. It took three months to get compensated. That would drive alot of people away.
I've been a Newegg customer for years, so I gave them a sedcond chance, and before this, they delivered. Now, I'm supposed to put together a computer for my sister for Christmas BEFORE I leave for Oklahoma. We ordered the parts and paid for the three day shipping via UPS. Well, Newegg didn't have all the parts in the same warehouse, so the shipment got split. One package fron NJ, the other from CA. I needed this order here by Friday at the very latest. I leave on Saturday. The CA package isn't getting here until Monday. After spending an hour in live chat with a Newegg rep, all I could get promised was $15 credit and an apology.
I'm not going to say don't buy from them, because it's hard not to. But I will say don't place large orders with them, because they tend to screw those up bad. Smaller orders, I haven't had a problem with. But large orders, meaning over $800, tend to get botched up. Be careful.
btw: I sent an email to Mark, the owner of Frozen CPU, and asked him what it would take for him to sell computer hardware. All they sell is modding hardware and extreme cooling solutions for performance computers. He said maybe someday........... love you and thanks!!!
