Sad to say that there isn't a whole lot of "public" land in our area to go out and play on. Just about all of our old places around here now have houses on them or are posted. So if you come up with anything, there's local folks that will come out with you. hmr-rsq 11-29-2006, 05:17 PM is there anybody in the richmond area that knows of any good wheeling spots? we just did crab tree falls and shoe creek but that's a bit of a drive to do very often I'm kinda lookin for something local Notta, none, neeel, unless ya find a private farm or something...Almost everyone does GWNF or Potts MTN in JNF. Uwharrie, Telico, Win-rock, Rausch Creek, Paragon, Crackerneck/Calatree. Oh yeh! the Moab... There are public trails in the George Washington National Forest near Harrisonburg. If you know where Reddish Knob is located, the trails are located on the road up to Flagpole Knob. I've been on some of them, pretty good stuff but you should have your recovery gear with you. Xterra had an event up there in the fall of 2005. Good luck baldkrys 11-29-2006, 06:59 PM Welcome fellow richmonder we need a little va m&g Ironclad 11-29-2006, 08:11 PM Welcome fellow richmonder we just did Big levels a few weeks ago not to bad but its two hours away. we need a little va m&g :stupid We've had some of the Hampton Roads folks get together on occasion, but yeah, I agree. These trails don't compare to what the guys out west are running, but they're better than nothing! badabing67 11-30-2006, 09:28 PM at crabtree falls there are also a couple of campgrounds for those of us who like a few extra amenities at nite (heat or a/c, running water, toilet etc.) just let me know when and where old79bronco 11-30-2006, 09:45 PM I'm up for a va fsb m&g too.Ironclad,so that area we all went to is posted know? hmr-rsq 11-30-2006, 10:08 PM Start a thread on just the M & G, when, where, how..My and my guys from the mountains will try and make it or drive over to the mountains and we'll show ya some great wheelin. Had a April 1st M&G, this year and had a blast...See ya starcity 12-06-2006, 08:07 PM i grew up in midlothian and used to go to the power lines right on Powhatan border. not sure if still any good since 288 took over Watkins nursery. but was lots of good holes and some short steep hills. you can get to them off otterdale if still open. not real long trails but if start at end towards coalfield rd(was blocked when i used to go) then go to otterdale cross over and go to other section and can end up at 60. Lee's95XLT 12-07-2006, 11:29 PM I know the area Starcity but I belive that's been developed pretty heavily in the last few years.
