View Full Version : Foster's Special Bitter ...Bleh!!
Iolaus 11-30-2006, 09:40 PM I saw some of this in a store, and figured I give it a try. I was all set for the fragrant aroma of hops, followed by the tangy bitter-sweet aftertaste that I associate with a good IPA, or an ESB... I popped the can and smelled...beer. It smelled like the cheap beer you get at a backyard kegger. I took a drink, and memories of those backyard parties got stronger. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the parties, but I wanted something more out of a beer I actually chose and paid for.
Fortunately, I have two cases of beer from Wild Rivers brewery - one of Oktoberfest, and one split between ESB and IPA. I shoulda' bought more while I was up there.

Handy_andy_cv64 11-30-2006, 11:08 PM That's something I've noticed about Foster's imported to the U.S.; I've been
to Western Australia twice, and Foster's down there is VERY delicious.
dsotmoon 12-01-2006, 12:20 AM i like the "original" Fosters OK but I would like to try the real deal

I've heard that; I've also heard Aussies say that the Fosters we have is piss.
This IPA is starting wash away the taste; I can smell the hops before it even touches my lips. :thumbup
Dave's Bronc 90 12-01-2006, 05:24 AM Yeah, that crap's terrible. When I was in Australia a bartender laughed his ass off at me when I tried to order a Fosters. He told me they'd go out of business if they didn't export it. You should try Red Hook ESB:thumbup

It seems to be a local mid-west thing though; I found lots of reviews, but I can't find any shippers for the stuff.

Thanks, but whoa!!! I can go with the $9.95 for a six pack, but $22.25 (49.00 for a case) to ship it? :shocked Ouch! I'll settle for what I can find around here.

TreR1969 12-02-2006, 06:58 PM Man...I can go down to the Friar Tuck here in town and buy individual bottles of the stuff...
If you want to foot the bill I could package up a 6-pk and ship it to you...you just pay actual cost, I wouldn't charge anything...just helpin' another kilt-wearing beer lover out :thumbup
The beer is THAT good...you gotta try it. Plus, the beer and I are both named after the same historical figure...my full name is Robert Bruce Roberts III (my name "Tre'" comes from being the third).

Thanks. I'm gonna try asking my local supplier if it's possible to get any through them first.
