saw a few threads about sea foam but nothing about the tranny treatment so i figured i would post my experience and attempt to give something useful back to this site!

Well i added the can or seafoam tranny treatment about a week ago. On the can it says add and drive at least 5 miles before a tranny service/flush. I did some research on this before i used it because my tranny is on its last legs and did not want to make it any worse. I found someone on line a guy that owns a tranny shop and said he adds it in about a week before he is going to do a service to give it some time to work. Well i did just that, and drove about 150-200 miles. After a few miles i could kind of feel it getting better but not really until i did the service.
So i drained the tranny and torque converter/ changed the filter and filled her up.
took it for a test drive and immediatly noticed the difference. It is much smoother going through the rpm band, my shifts do not slip as much, and when it shifts it is a much more firmer shift, no more long RPM reving high while it slips into gear. Just bangs right in kind of like i added a shift kit or something. it also feels like it downshifts quicker to pass cars, no more pedal to the floor and waiting for the tranny to catch up to the motor
does my tranny still need to be replaced, yes but i think i just bought myself a few more months. So if you e4od has some high mileage or it is on its way out, this is a good band aid. It was worth the $6.50 for sure.

Had a C6 that was acting up. Put a bottle of trans type fix stuff, ran it, changed the fuild about 3 times to make sure it was all cleaned, trans started shifting like I had put a shift kit into it. Lost the trans (literally wiped out all the internals) about 4 months later. Fix-it in a bottle is nice for hardening seals and feeing up gunk. If the clutches and bands are worn, no fix-it in a bottle will correct that.

this fixed my e4od shifting problems completely. i drove it around for a week with it in there, until it clogged the filter up and overheated the tranny. this stuff works great.

make sure you change the fluid every few thousand after this until all the crap is out of it. before the seafoam, it was relatively clean. after the seafoam, ive changed it 3 times (about every 3k), and its been full of sludge. it will clean it out, but it leaves that stuff all over the pan.

You would think that with all the detergent that ATF has in it that it would keep the thing clean on the inside (till you add clutch material and bake it)

a tranny guy just warned me today to start saving your money, he said it swells the seals or something like that, good temporary fix then 3 / 4 months my tranny will blow up, when the dry out and crack

so guys sorry for jumping the gun, please wait 3 / 4 months for me to see if my tranny exploids!!!

Im wondering if it was the seafoam or the new fluid that helped more.

I have to admit I have never seen the stuff ( Sea Foam ) but I have seen that everybody seems to be putting it in everything not just the tranny. I have never heard of anything go to terribly wrong in any of the threads that I have read.

thanks, i plan on adding a remote filter and tranny cooler once it blows. I always change the internal filter whenever i change the tranny fluid. now i have the 4x4 pan with a drain and air tools, so removing the pan takes 60 seconds. just those damp gaskets suck lining up again.

Its supposed to swell the seals, to get them to seal again :P You could always shop around and find a trans guy to patch your transmission for a few hundred dollars. They don't guarantee the work tho.

3800 PLUS shipping???

That E4OD you're lookin at better be able to take 2000+ ft lbs of torque, and be garunteed for 10 years for 3800 bucks...

I got a quote from a local reputable trans shop for 1900, which was a full clean rebuild, upgraded parts from bauman, and a shift kit.

it is bullet proof. i know many people that run their 4r100 with no problem at 600-800 hp and up to 1000 ft lbs of torque in their lightning. I have a brand new factory tech 4r100 race tranny on my floor of my garage. it goes for 3600 brand new and i won it, yep for free!! I am selling it just so i can put one of these trannies in my lightning. They are the main competitors and i was told to sell it by a shop that is not a dealer for either one. BTS is the way to go for e40d and 4r100. it is worth the money.

i have a friend that owns a tranny shop and will do the rebuild with all upgraded parts for 1300 as a favor to me and i am still saving my pennies for the bts trans.
