I just took my Suburban into Thoms 4x4 in Chicago. This guy is great. I had a problem with the Transfer case (NP246) in my 99 Suburban. It had been leaking and making noise. I checked it out and saw the wet skid plate so I knew something was up. I called around and after many tries at places that were telling me $700+, I took a friends reccomendation and gave this guy a call. I spoke with the owner right away and he told me to bring the truck in when I could. I brought it in Wednesday night after hours. He found some casting flaws in the tailhousing, thats when he called me. He told me they were going to try a little epoxy first (to save me $$$) and if it wouldnt hold, he was going to weld it. The total ended up being about 190 for labor ($95 an hr) and 10 for parts and oil. I picked it up today and I can tell ya, I am 100% satisfied with the job.
He was honest with me and didnt try to sell me something I didnt need. With what I just saw over at Pirate, its always nice to know that there are still some honest people in the world.
From what he told me, he mainly does driveline work and fixes/installs plows.
