Yea, and the highway compatability didn't add up...almost like the were guessing at some of them...I can recall an exact example but they said two tires both had a one star on road rating and it was tires I've run from experience with a noticable difference (maybe TSL's and SX's)....granted neither one are what I'd recommend for your average DD, but they road different none the less, therefore should have been at least one stars difference...make sense??? and I think the BFG M/T's which in my opinion are damn near as smooth as the A/T was rated kinda low I think (just my .02) Anyway I dicided I'd keep an eye out and see how the rag progresses...:shrug

P.S. there were also a TON of tires left out which made me wonder if it's one of those mags that cover products from the highest bidder??:shrug

There’s a new tire in development at Maxxis set to arrive in retailers 3rd quarter of this year. Currently in its testing phase, the M-8090, otherwise known as the CREEPY CRAWLER, is one of the most highly anticipated tires.

The M-8090’s design makes it a rock-climbing beast. Armored by a rugged, square profile sidewall and aggressive tread pattern, it’s specially developed for durability and claw-like traction on uneven terrain. A specially created compound and lug design prevent chunking while staggered groove patterns and shoulder lugs minimize sideway slippage. The Creepy Crawler’s unique horizontal siping maximizes traction in all weather conditions.

The tire uses bias construction and is DOT certified. Sizes that will be made available are as follows:

35X12.50-15

35X12.50-16

37X12.50-15*

37X12.50-16*

37X14.50-15*

37X14.50-16*

38X13.00-15**

38.5X14.50-16**

“The level of interest the Creepy Crawler is generating is exciting. It’s nothing short of the largest and most aggressive off-road tire we’ve developed and we’re looking forward to its release later this year,” said marketing manager, Michael McGunagle.

For more information on the Creepy Crawler as it becomes available, visit Maxxis.com.

*Available 3rd quarter of 2003
**Available 4th quarter of 2003

Yea I did scan through that article as well..my first thought was that htey sure are narrow...but then I saw the rock crawling part....looks like thats what they are catering to. IIRC thats the way they did with ATV tires...specialty models for like sand and mud(ie: paddels, and boggin' tires).

That tire actualy looks like it might be pretty street friendly...:shrug

P.S. I s'pose with as few of people are on we shoulda had this in the chat room....:toothless

I tried emailing maxxis last week and no one responded about when that thing would be available. Maxxis has been making mountain bike tires for a long time too.
As for that mag, it had some repeat articles from either 4wheeler or 4wheel/offroad from a few years ago.

They had another mag out about a year or so ago, but i think it started competing with the big brother (4wheeler, or 4w/o) and they shut it down. It was the best fullsize mag I had seen. Sure wish they would have kept it out.
