I am waiting on the tax return to buy a 94 5.0 bronco 4wd. I am not real familiar with the 4wd side of the house but I have been tinkering with the 5.0L in mustangs for about 8 years. Conveniently I have a 87 LX coupe mustang that is my other project so if I have any motor problems I should have parts available from the car to keep the bronco running. I think this project will not be a wild one, that's for the mustang. I am looking to do a decent cam, headers and convert the intake to the one off of my mustang. I will get a little crazier when the wife isn't driving it everyday. Then I plan on putting a 6" lift and some bigger tires, maybe a dart block 347 with a torquey cam. I also like nitrous alot and I have a few kits laying around. When I get serious about making it wild I might do some crazy stuff but for now she is just going to be mainly a stocker and I will upgrade anything that breaks. I have heard that I should replace the auto locking hubs with manual ones. Any other tips are greatly appreciated, like I said I don't know much about the bronco or the 4wd side of the house. I live in Corpus Christi TX and have been in the Navy for almost 9 years, I have a wife, one daughter, another child on the way, and my dog Turbo. I love to fish and work on cars and trucks, sometimes I get a wild hair and like to hunt also.

Welcome

If your gonna build a small block go 408

my trucko had a Roush cast iron headed 408 stroker, cheaper than dirt to build and more torque than one man needs

Yeah, that has crossed my mind. I was talking to a friend of mine today and he's gonna cut me a deal on some parts. Roush cast iron heads, two different cam shafts (one is a nitrous cam), 1.7 extrude honed roller rockers, and some other odd and end stuff for $500. The heads have been ported and make pretty good power. The biggest problem I already have is which one to build first, the coupe or the bronco. I, like many others, have more ideas than money:banghead . I still want to build a big block project but that will most likely be in the coupe. Before the kid came I was getting parts together to put a 533 stroker motor into a 94 mustang with nitrous (atleast a 250 shot) but the kid came and I sold the motor and the tranny, then sold the roller, the fuel cell, the suspension, man I miss that project. I am hoping that the bronco I don't get into a rush to build and can stay happy with a little at a time. I am lucky to have a good friend building a nasty 408 for his coupe that I can look at and make decisions on for me buiding a 408. The worst part is I have to wait to start really upgrading anything until next year when I buy the wife something else to drive daily. Thanks for the warm welcome and I will be doing alot of reading on the site for opinions on alot of things like lift kits, tires, etc. Till then keep it real, keep it simple, and check the lugnuts.

Well, should be a go to pick her up tomorrow. I just went to the bank to get the $2500 for it. I thought it was a good deal for a 94 in pretty good shape, not perfect but good shape. No major mechanical issues, it needs injectors but I have them already. I can't wait to get her home and give her a good scrubbing. I will post up some pics when I get a chance. Kinda hard right now as I don't have internet at home. But I should have that worked out as soon as they can schedule me in to get it hooked up.

I got her Saturday. She needs a little more work than I originally thought but nothing major. Injectors - already have them, valve cover gaskets - should have expected it, carpet needs cleaning, good wash and wax, and some other little odd and end type things that I am not real concerned with. I did replace the radius arm bushings - not as hard as I expected. Overall I think it was a good deal at $2500. The only thing I will have to spend some money on in the near future is a set of tires, but I have a little time on that also.
