View Full Version : Iowa Meet and Greet
Cbowman622 02-09-2007, 04:05 AM Lets get one together...is there any offroad parks in iowa or something of the sort?
otherwise im up for the drive and id bring some friends with me 8-)
haha would it make my gasmileage any better if i took off my 32" and stuck my S-10's tires on there?..lol
Potamus 02-09-2007, 09:22 AM I'm up for a sub-regional M&G as soon as I get the engine back in.
I did some scouting on the ol' interweband located a few places.
Castana, IA--Timber Ridge RanchThis one (http://www.peelout.net/off_road_trails.htm)lets you bring guns, there aren't any maps, but you can see some of the trails in the picture section.
That's all I found in my cursory search. Let us know, good/bad/ugly, if you heard of or have been to this park.
Cbowman622 02-09-2007, 12:35 PM haha personally id like to tear that building area up
lol
hmmm...6hours 15 minutes away...? id make the drive...im sure that some of my buddies down here would be interested
DO IT! unless theres some better ones 8-)
big_ol_bronco78 02-09-2007, 02:20 PM i would be up for it, but not until this fall when i bring the bronco down
Cbowman622 02-10-2007, 03:19 AM meh after reading alot of their rules and all that jazz its basically just dry hill climbing....:-( but who knows....is there any other offroad parks in IA?
or near anyhow
Cbowman622 02-10-2007, 04:29 AM http://rockportoffroadpark.com/homepage.html
rockport IL
www.badlandsoffroad.com/
Attica IN
poor iowa and no good offroad parks :-(
Audra 02-14-2007, 12:48 PM No good offroad parks, but dang plenty of snow this winter.
big_ol_bronco78 02-14-2007, 03:21 PM yeah, i've been here a year and asked plenty of times on here, and i couldn't fine any places that close to me, still bringing the bronco down though and hope to get together with some of you guys
Timber ridge or that place in rockport doesn't look too bad, Id be up for anything. I would just rather wait until it got a little warmer out, so we can camp.
anywhere a little closer to me this time would awesome, :rockon
big_ol_bronco78 02-16-2007, 11:15 AM where are you located Dunk? i'm located in quad cities area - davenport
Saurian 02-16-2007, 01:45 PM Make It or Break It down South of Knoxville/North of Albia on Highway 5 is pretty good I hear. I have a friend who used to go down there alot with his builtup Jeep and a buddy with a Bronco, they always had fun. He said it has a decent spectrum of stuff to keep some of the more hardcore guys entertained, and "bunny hills" style stuff for the stock/nearly stock.
Here's the URL: http://www.miobi.org/main.htm
Honestly I've heard alot of people have a blast here. You can see some of the rides the local guys have on there and what they're doin at the place. Just an idea. This one is a bit more central. I guess one big factor is who wants to head out there, and where they are all at. If we have 6 South/Southwestern members who want to head out, and only two up in Northern Iowa, it wouldn't make much sense to plan it for way up there, would it? Course...needs to get a lot fawkin warmer before doing anything. :toothless I'm a wimp with the cold...
big_ol_bronco78 02-16-2007, 01:50 PM yeah, i checked them out, but i don't want to spend 50 bucks a year to wheel, may not sound a lot to some, but i just can't spend that extra money when i'm sure i can do it for free
where are you located Dunk? i'm located in quad cities area - davenport
I'm in lincoln.....not too far away. I don'e care where we have it, as long as I don't have to drive 10-11 hours again. I think I might make a limit to 4 hours this year.haha
I was just looken at all of the pictures on rockports site...it looks like a pretty cool place. I might make my way down there sometime this summer either way.
Cbowman622 02-17-2007, 06:32 PM yea i think the rockport place would be pretty damn sweet
i know a few buddies of mine would probably want to come down in the jeeps and F-1(2)50's
but it definately needs to get warmer and stop dropping so much goddamn snow on us
im sure we'd be up for some camping if we went down there. Hell yea!
im tired of stuff being in snow piles i hit :-(
im on my 3rd grill and 2nd right side chrome headlight cover
no more snow piles for me...just small children and trees
im looking at the April 27th and 28th thing they are having in rockport...it would be decent weather and i think it would be alright. but im also up for some stuff this summer too
big_ol_bronco78 02-19-2007, 03:19 PM i'll be up for some wheeling probably august at the earliest, should have the bronk down here by then
Cbowman622 02-20-2007, 02:34 AM bah!
something that plugs in somewhere came unplugged while i was wheeling and now its sitting at my friends house
my buddies F-150 towed me there from the wheeling spot...it plugs in somewhere and idk he said it looks like something that plugs into the transmission housing so hopefully its an easy fix
Nickblaze466 02-20-2007, 11:42 AM those badlands are pretty sweet, i could probably make it over there.
big_ol_bronco78 02-20-2007, 04:17 PM so how many are wanting to get together:
1)spring
2)summer
3)fall
4)all of the above
Cbowman622 02-20-2007, 08:38 PM definately 4
big_ol_bronco78 02-21-2007, 02:38 PM anyone else?
I'd probably be up for a trip if you guys would welcome an Illinois guy tagging along.:thumbup
Cameron

Cameron
no problem....I'm pretty much up for anything as long as my bronk is go'en
I would love to go back to the badlands but I don't really want to drive there again...just too far away for me.
big_ol_bronco78 02-23-2007, 01:16 AM sure CJW, you're welcomed to tag along, now we just need someone to organize this thing, lol
Cbowman622 02-23-2007, 04:33 AM btw my friend fixed my bronco...it was the electrical wiring shit that plugs into the top of the tranny....yea. its funny how easily you can disable a vehicle like that
but it looks like any iowa m&g will be in illinois anyhow haha
but yes.
set this up we shall.
first we should find some dates everyone can make. personally imlooking at april 27,8,9 at hannibal rocks in rockport ILL...that looks pretty cool... but we could always get some big special event going for us, but not secluding other vehicles (even though broncos own.) because i have a few friends that would jump allover the oppurtunity.
i could email those guys in rockport and see if they could get us an event rolling in april or later and find out the rates and nice camp grounds and hotels and stuff around. personally im down for the camping.

late april would be perfect for me
plus, it would just be starting to get nice out for camping....maybe we'll have more people that show up this year...last year everyone said they were come'n and then backed out with transmission problems...haha... everyone that went to the badlands last year will get that one
Cbowman622 02-24-2007, 05:36 AM fuuuck my bronco keeps gettin me from behind

Cbowman622 02-24-2007, 05:38 AM and dunk i like how your fenders are...i will probably doo that because mine are all rusted to hell
GearHead71 02-24-2007, 11:36 AM I'd be up for a M&G as soon as it warms up:rockon

I suggest a new tank....I replaced mine cause it was rusting through.
you can pick one up for probley under a hundred bucks
do you have a 30 gallon tank... I think mine was about 100 bucks
big_ol_bronco78 02-26-2007, 10:14 PM yeah, i had a leak, fixed it once, then leaked gain little while after. i got one of the plastic ones from broncograveyard, little more money i think but worth it.
Cbowman622 02-27-2007, 12:30 AM yea the 32 gal hog lol
big_ol_bronco78 02-27-2007, 01:20 PM ebay is another place where you can find one, i saw a 45 gallon one on there too if you want to go bigger
big_ol_bronco78 03-01-2007, 02:15 PM bump
Bri_Guy5 03-02-2007, 07:43 PM i would be happy to attend, wherever it is. it will be me and probably a friend (MAYBE two friends.)
would anyone be willing to let me and possibly my friends ride in a truck on a trail? i'd love to drive the trails, but my Kia just won't survive. :brownbag

When this does happen and if I have a truck ready and an open seat, probably a dodge if you don't mind, but maybe the bronco, I wouldn't have a problem with you riding. It says musky hunter under your sig name so we might have something to talk about.:thumbup

big_ol_bronco78 03-05-2007, 03:12 PM so where woudl everyone want to get together at for last summer or fall? i know guys had some places listed on here, thought we could come up with a place. thanks
prime8 03-09-2007, 12:42 AM +1 on #4.....BUT NOT DURING HUNTING SEASON.....
I'd be pushing for somewhere in iowa or misouri...
big_ol_bronco78 03-09-2007, 11:47 AM maybe we can set up a spring/summer m&g and then another one in the fall, so people have a chance to make it to atleast one. also, we could maybe set up some locations, we can even have it at multiple locations.
prime8 03-09-2007, 09:47 PM How many of us are there from the QC area? We could always take over credit island park.... Not 4x heaven but for a m/g it may work. Theres not alot of 4x parks. Scott Co. Park is an option too....
big_ol_bronco78 03-12-2007, 02:40 PM i'm in davenport, would love to have a QC meet and great. i'll hopefully ahve my bronco down here end of the summer or fall
Would any of you be up for tuttle creek in Randolph, kansas?
I'm usually there about every other weekend during the summer if the broncos up and going.
big_ol_bronco78 03-23-2007, 03:26 PM sorry, that's a little far for me, if mine was still stockish (31s with AOD) i would probalby consider it, but not with the c6 and 35s now
big_ol_bronco78 03-30-2007, 02:40 PM anyone?
big_ol_bronco78 04-07-2007, 07:23 PM anyone still interested in a m&g still?
jackedupbronco 04-07-2007, 08:12 PM If I had a Bronco still I'd be all in,
maybe I could get my Ranger running and come down if you guys don't mind, but I probably wont have it running for a little bit.
big_ol_bronco78 04-07-2007, 09:16 PM i'm hoping to get one together for fall, that's when i'll bring my bronco down from michigan
wyldstallyn73 04-21-2007, 12:41 AM Damn, Ive been slipping. Havent checked in for a while and when I do, I find out there is some Iowa activity stirring.
I am a longtime member of the already mentioned club MIOBI. we wheel on a piece of ground that used to be a coal mining area just a short drive south of Knoxville. It's really an awesome place to wheel- hard to believe in Iowa!! Our dues for new members are $50 to join for the first year, then $35 to rejoin after that. If you are not down with joining the club, we do have a Memorial Day weekend event, and the Iowa four wheel drive association will be having a Labor day weekend event. Also there is a Toys for Tots weekend event in the late fall that only requires a new $20 value toy donation to get in for the weekend- perhaps your get together could occur during on of those weekends??
I believe theres some type of weird insurance connection about being a club member that covers the landowners butt, I will ask him about it to see if there is a way around it if you guys want it to be a Bronco only gathering.
Cbowman622 04-24-2007, 03:35 PM hmm. i need to fix a few things on my bronco
(tranny cooliant line fitting snapped when taking out the radiator)
(axle seal blew so i need that and a new drum brake)
and i get my license back June 20th
which is good because if i break something then i should have my DD by then (Looking at a Gen 2 GST or GSX Mitsu Eclipse Spyder)
probably bring a few friends (1998 Wrangler, 4" RC lift, and 33" mickeys
Audra 04-24-2007, 11:58 PM Having a meet and greet in July (first couple of weeks) greatly increases my odds of being there :)
big_ol_bronco78 04-25-2007, 02:36 PM i won't have my bronco up for that, but i would really like to have on in august, september, october, some time around then, then i can actually wheel with you guys.
Cbowman622 04-26-2007, 12:30 AM me and my friend plan on goin downt here, hes takin his jeep and ill be takin my bronco (should have my 6" lift buy then from RC) June 23, 24th then probably runs during other times
but any time after June 20th is great for me. I just gotta have a couples weeks advance to take work off
big_ol_bronco78 04-26-2007, 07:58 PM i hope you guys can post some pics of the m&g this summer, wish i could make it
Cbowman622 04-27-2007, 04:00 AM we would probably have one later too but you never know
id like to go to one
Lets actually get all the iowa members asses here and sit up a meeting somewhere
lol
big_ol_bronco78 04-28-2007, 01:45 AM i agree, and a quad cities m&g woudl be awsome too, even if i didn't have my bronk, would like to get to know some of you so when i do get it down here we can wheel
