View Full Version : Should I drive or fly
93Beast 04-03-2007, 04:28 PM Hey guys just got notified that I am heading down to Biloxi Mississippi for 3 weeks for a training class.
Class dates are 17 April-9 May.
Should I drive the Bronc down or take the free government funded flight? Only reason I would consider taking the truck is if I could get some wheeling done while I was down there and that way I would have a vehicle to get me around while in class. Being in Biloxi at this time of year is one of those times I would not want to be walking all over the place.
ScorpionBoy 04-03-2007, 04:30 PM take the free flight and rent a car.
MatthewC 04-03-2007, 04:39 PM :stupid and wheel the rental.

Shit dude. call trans now and reserve a U- Driv-It vehicle tell them you are there TDY and dont want to burden them with shuttleing you around.
93Beast 04-03-2007, 04:49 PM ok, I have never heard of a U-drive-it vehicle
fairlane_68 04-03-2007, 05:57 PM :stupid and wheel the rental.
:histerica
Whatever you do, DO NOT FLY CONTINENTAL! I flew to VA on the army's dime, and I was stuck in Houston for 5 hours longer than I was supposed to be! And keep an eye on the weather before you leave.
imlikeojnow 04-03-2007, 06:20 PM ok, I have never heard of a U-drive-it vehicle
Call the vehicle dispatch section there and see if they can hook you up. That is what i do....lol just not there. Check your PMs too
-Spazmatic- 04-03-2007, 06:20 PM Continental can suck my dog's balls.
Saurian 04-03-2007, 06:40 PM Continental can suck my dog's balls.
You know its serious when they don't even get to suck your own...they have to get down and go for the dog. :toothless
kf4amu 04-03-2007, 07:40 PM fly. driving sucks.
ScorpionBoy 04-03-2007, 08:12 PM fly. driving sucks.
driving in the right machine is way better than flying if you can get away with it.
Steve83 04-03-2007, 08:46 PM I always drove when I went TDY. I hated the thought of being trapped in the barracks. So do the girls - uuuhhh... "Female Soldiers" ;)
MikE2 04-03-2007, 09:21 PM Flying is such a mother ****ing pain in the ass. I'd drive if it was less then 10 hours
93Beast 04-03-2007, 09:22 PM 16 hours and change according to Yahoo maps.
Bill@setel.com 04-03-2007, 09:31 PM I travel a lot for my job - if it is 5 hours or so, I'd drive - anything longer than 7, I try to fly.
93Beast 04-03-2007, 09:31 PM I guess I will be flying then...
SSgtTEX 04-03-2007, 09:50 PM damn i would say you should drive. I am about on your direct path. Especially if you get on I65. I have a cold beer with your name on it if you do drive.
Plus I hate not having a vehicle on trips, sucks balls.
We had a U-drive when we were up at Andrews to fix 42. Which by the way, that cermony hanger is NICE.
kf4amu 04-03-2007, 10:35 PM driving in the right machine is way better than flying if you can get away with it.
To me, the "right machine" is an airplane.
Plus unless you are flying the plane yourself, you can fly drunk. :beer
Steve83 04-04-2007, 01:47 AM Yahoo always overestimates the time it takes. http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/evil.gif See what it says for Boston to Memphis... ;) If I hadn't broken down, I'd have made it in ~14 hrs, and it's actually 400 miles further than they say.

Goose 04-04-2007, 09:01 PM check your orders, see if they say POV is limited to the cost of air fare or something like that. It basically means you can drive the bronco but they will only pay you back up to the cost of what the plane ticket would have been.
Audra 04-04-2007, 09:05 PM 3wks? Hell I would be driving. But I am silly like that, road trips are fun :rockon
jackedupbronco 04-04-2007, 09:10 PM I'd drive it, 3 weeks without a vehicle is just crazy :wacko
I cant go 3 days without my truck.
