sooo, is the interest in the actual workers on the boats and their personalities? cause that show is pretty much the same every episode. looks like an awful job to me.

It's the characters. They grow on you after a while.

One of the ex pilots from the airline I work at is a pilot for an air ambulance service based out of Dutch Harbor. He flew the survivor of the Big Valley out.

The characters are awesome. Hiram, the deckboss on the Maverick is hilarious. Old skinny guy that outworks everyone else, talks and jokes like a sailor...

And the captain of the Cornelia Marie, with the son Jake...hes hilarious. Hes got more of a pirate/sea captain voice than anyone else, especially when he laughs. And hes always got a cigarrette hanging out his mouth.

And Sig Hansen, capt of the Northwestern...that man never sleeps. Everyone else is waiting out a big storm on the crab grounds and hes got his guys out fishing for codfish instead of resting.
Storm clears, he offloads the cod, turns right around and goes crabbing. His guys made like 50k apiece because of that, everyone else made less than 30.

Id love to go up there and work like that for a season but I dont wanna make 200 bucks a day as a greenhorn.
