1998 F-150 XLT 4x4 Off-Road Pkg.

Short Wheel Base

It has the 4.6L V8

285/75/17 Toyo A/T's On Factory Ford 17" Rims

Tinted Windows

Cat-Back Dual Exhaust, No muffler, just a Y-Pipe. It sounds VERY good. It surprisingly does not sound cheap, but is a little too loud for some. I like it.

It runs and drives excellent. Mechanically the truck is like new. Runs, shifts, steers accelerates and stops perfectly.

The interior is clean, but it doesn't have a CD Player.

The only flaw with the truck is that it has a few minor electrical issues. The P/O screwed with more than his fair share of the wiring behind the dash, and he messed a few things up. For example:

The Dome light is Inop. The gauge lights do not light up at night with the lights on. The Airbag light is on. The heat/AC controls are operable with the ignition in the off position, or any position. Thus meaning the P/O bypassed the ignition wire for those controls.

Nothing major, just a few annoying little things that I will sort out one by one as the weather warms up.

The elec. shift 4x4 works great. (For now! :popc1: )

Here's some pics:

The only rust on the whole truck is on the bottom of the 'gate:

Cool! Always thought the 4.6L was a bit doggy with the 4R70w, but should be a solid truck.

When I got in it to Test Drive it yesterday, The first thing I thought was of your post in my other thread saying that it would be doggy.

Well, It has quite a bit of power. It doesn't feel much less powerful than the 5.4 I've driven, but it is far from a fast truck, for sure.

It's not too bad. I can see how it would be much peppier with a 5 spd.

Yup, M5OD-R2 lets me pull hard all the way up to 5500 redline and it really takes off at 4000+.

I would prefer that it was a long bed, for the practicality of it, But The short bed will do fine, and it looks better next to the Bronco.

They don't really hold enoufgh weight to be able to use the long beds anyways. Unless you got light stuff...

I'm thinking of size more than volume.

Say like a roll of carpet. A longbed would be a little better for that, but the Shortbed will do it just fine.

Or for hauling brush. Since weight isn't much, but it fills up space quick. Things like that.

The heaviest stuff I ever really haul is scrap sometimes. But I never have had a problem with too little space in a shortbed for that.

I also want to get a toolbox in the bed, so that will take up a little space as well.

Yeah it would work better, but I think in those trucks the short bed looks so much better then the long bed I'd rather deal with the disadvantages

And since I would have to look at your truck too, I'm glad you have a short bed. Those long bed F150's hurt my eyes

I agree that they do look much better in a Shortbed Vs. A Longbed
